High-quality bone china; classic white dinnerware w/subtle but beautifully embossed design...
This is a lovely set of dinnerware made of bone china (a type of porcelain). These pieces feel light-weight and have a delicate, translucent look in comparison to my stoneware and porcelain dishes, but they are actually stronger and more chip-resistant. I like the pure white color that means I will be able to mix and match the pieces in this set with all of my other dinnerware. These dishes will look great for casual family meals as well as for holidays or other special occasions. The dishes seem simply designed at first, but a closer look reveals an intricate embossed design that is subtle but very beautiful. I like that I have a choice of this stream-lined set which includes service for six, with just the pieces I most want and use (dinner plates, salad plates and medium-sized bowls) without having cups and saucers or mugs that I don't really need any more of at this stage of my life. Or, if I was just starting out, I would be able to buy a set with service for four or eight that has the more traditional full place settings in the same pattern. These dishes and bowls look great on my table and they are durable enough to stand up to everyday use in my busy home. The sizes are just right for most of the meals I serve and there are none of the markings from silverware that happens with some types of ceramic dinnerware. I don't use my dishwasher very much these days but I like that these are dishwasher safe for those occasions when I am serving my family plus guests and have a lot of clean-up to do. The dishes stack neatly and compactly in my cupboard and the bowls nest perfectly. This saves a lot of room for someone like me with a fairly small kitchen, but a lot of dishes and kitchen gear to store. The set was very well well packaged in three sturdy boxes with extra boxes for cushioning within a larger heavy-duty plain box. There were thick pieces of cardboard in between each piece and the dishes and bowls arrived in perfect condition. I have several sets of dinnerware from Mikasa, both casual and formal and the quality has been excellent and they have held up very well over the years. I think the price for this set is quite reasonable and I would definitely purchase dinnerware and serving pieces from this brand again.

Nice, but very thin and when stacking the bowls they stick together
This is a nice dish set but they are very thin, and when stacking the bowls in the cupboard the bowls get stuck inside each other.

IF YOU LOVE WHAT YOU SEE AND READ ABOUT THESE PLATES ON THIS SITE, YOU'LL BE THRILLED
I’ve had Mikasa plates for years and years. They’ve served me well. But it’s time for new plates. My current go-to set is off-white, but I’m always, always tempted to experiment with design-forward dinnerware. I’ve had black plates, blue plates, terra cotta plates, gray plates. Food does not look good on gray plates, no matter how pretty the plate or how enticing the food, it just comes off as…disturbing. Food just presents better on a white canvas. These plates are white. They’re not coconut white, but they’re white. The design on them is an “embossed crown,” sort of like you might find on fancy stationary. It’s classic, but it’s not special. The plates are bone china, which makes them lighter, more translucent, the color more “crisp” (all of which is true), and I thought more fragile, but these claim to be “chip resistant.” The Mikasa plates I’ve had for many years — which are porcelain — have chipped and developed black lines through them. So I’m hoping bone china works out better for me.What I do love about these plates is that they’re flat. They sit flat on the table. There’s no curve to the dinner plate or the salad plate. Somehow, food on a flat plate seems more like how you’d be served in a restaurant, to me anyway. The “soup” bowl is more of a “cereal” bowl, and there’s not much special about that either. But I do also really love that the set includes 6 place settings. It’s usually 4, so you’re forced to buy two sets because 4 is not enough. But I hardly ever have more than 6 people over anymore, and when I do, those strange design-forward sets I’ve accumulated over the years may have to come out.The bottom line on these plates is that they are exactly what they say they are. So if you like what you see on the Amazon site, you’ll be thrilled. (But I do really wish sets like these included optional “pasta bowls” and “dessert bowls.”)

very unhappy!!!
One plate and one bowl had black spots; Mikasa's website and store on Amazon are out of stocks for the dinnerware set.I do love the pattern and they did arrive with no damage; but quality control did a very poor job. I guess I will go back to Lenox for my china dinnerware needsAmazon did refund the monies

LOVE THE CROWN DESIGN…
They say food looks best on white plates and I would have to agree…Mikasa has been around for a long time and is renowned for their high-quality Bone China dinnerware and classic designs. Timeless and simple, my wife loves the embossed crown design and elegant touches and beaded ring around the rim. Great for everyday use, as well as for dinner parties and get-togethers, this 18-piece set services 6 and includes 6 dinner plates, 6 salad plates, and 6, 27-ounce all-purpose bowls. Lightweight, chip-resistant, and durable, these dishes are microwave safe, dishwasher safe, and oven safe up to 400. We use these all the time and has slowly become our everyday plates. They also stack nicely in order save cabinet space.

Stunning dinnerware set!
The Mikasa Crow dinnerware set is a stunning addition to our kitchen, I love it, and would highly recommend it. This set includes six 11-inch dinner plates, six 9-inch salad plates, and six 6-inch all-purpose bowls. The set looks elegant, but it’s also practical. Crafted from vine ash, it boasts remarkable chip resistance quality. This set is dishwasher and microwave-safe, making both cleaning up and reheating a breeze. I highly recommend this beautiful dinnerware set for its quality, aesthetic appeal, and functional design – a perfect choice for family dinnerware set.

Smooth, not gritty like the vegan bone china
If you’re wondering if these ones aren’t gritty the way the vegan bone china sets are, good news! They’re nice quality and look great.
