Richard Scarry's Best Counting Video Ever! [VHS]

my two little boys love this counting video! Their ages are one, and 3 1/2. They both will sit, riveted, while this little video plays out. It is wonderful for when I am making supper/washing dishes. The whole thing is only 15 to 20 minutes long, which I feel like is a good amount of time for Littles to be in front of the TV. this sweet little story features Lily rabbit, who is challenged by her daddy to have a counting day. She proceeds to count objects and people around Busytown. She starts from one, and goes up to 20. Her friends, Huckle cat, and Lowely worm help her. it is such a funny little story! Sweet, innocent, no frightening elements whatsoever. I love the simplicity of this little DVD. I highly, highly recommend! The characters are kind and polite, and the content is educational. It has definitely helped my three-year-old with his counting. And who can argue with Richard Scarry? His stories are classic! :-)

I recently purchased the following videos: Best ABC Video, Best Counting Video, Best Learning Songs, Best Silly Stories & Songs, Best Busy People. These videos are all about 15-20 years old (release date) and I had my reservations as to whether my 3 year old would like them, as he is very stuck on his LeapFrog letter and words videos (which I also love). When I first viewed all of these, I realized that they are made with very simple animation, similar to when I was young. These videos are extremely charming and sweet. My son instantly loved them and has asked to view them repeatedly. It was nice to have a video with the actual alphabet song, as the LeapFrog letter factory does not have it. The counting video is also helpful in that it counts to 20 rather than 10 as other videos do. He enjoys the silly stories and laughs at all the videos. It is nice to know that kids can still enjoy classics such as these. I am very pleased with them. I also paid less than $1 or $2 for each of them (plus shipping). A bargain!

Our two-year old daughter loves this video. She is always asking to see her "bunny counting" video. She has learned to count to 20, and a major reason was this video. I highly recommend it. It is the best counting video I've found.The animation is basic (and even slightly glitchy in one instance), but it's not the sort of thing little kids care about. The content and educational value are first-rate. Our daughter loves the sweet animal characters.We like that the presentation is low-key, not like some of the loud, frenetically paced stuff you see nowadays. If your kids see a lot of TV, they might have a different reaction than our daughter did to this video. We don't let her watch a lot of video unless it's educational (studies show TV and rapidly changing video images are not healthy for kids' brain development, especially before age 3).

If your children are allowed to watch TV, it is best to provide them with videos that are not only entertaining but also educational. Richard Scarry's Best Counting Video Ever achieves that goal. My daughter is several months away from three years old. She was given casual instruction in numbers and counting prior to her first viewing of this video. Now that she has seen it perhaps six times, her ability to count has improved markedly and her understanding of addition has increased (addition is not introduced in this video). The video teaches counting up to twenty. The graphics are simplistic, allowing the viewer to focus on the lesson. This is a useful tool that I recommend to any parent who wishes to enlighten their child or children.

We have the Winnie the Pooh 123's, which my son loves but it only goes up to 10. We wanted something that counts to 20. We purchased this dvd at the same time as "RS's Best ABC Video Ever". He loves them both! We usually watch ABCs and then Counting. He was counting before but this has helped to reinforce 1-10. We are also learning 11-20 at a very good pace. He counts everything! I agree with the other parents that this video is a great learning tool.

My 18 month old son was already counting to 30 but with this DVD he now understands the counting concept and counts everything in his sight. He loves this DVD and calls it his "numbers". I love that it goes past 10 all the way to 20 - so many only got to 5 or 10. We also have the ABC one and he loves that equally. I wish Richard Scarry had more DVD's to offer - they are excellent educational tools!

This is a very memorable and educational video that my children and children in classrooms that I've taught in from 3year olds in preschool through 1st grade have enjoyed. I was glad to be able to buy a newer copy since the box from my daughter's video (she's 26 now) was falling apart. The characters, dialog and just-right pace of the video will help your child learn their numbers and how to count very easily!

うさぎの子が1〜20まで数えていく単純なストーリーです。1歳半の息子はよく見ています。１０回くらい見たことあったのですが、今日見ていたら最後のシーンの歌の部分で大泣き。。もう一度掛け直しても同じ最後のシーンでまた大泣き。。終わって欲しくない様子です。個人的には英語を習いたてのお子様や小さいお子様向きな気がします。迷ってる方は1度お子様に見せる価値はあると思います。

１年前、息子が２歳になったばかりの頃に購入しましたが、全く見てくれず、ずっとしまってありました。最近急に思い出して見せてみたら大喜びで、毎日見ています。ビデオを見ながら一緒に数えたり、せりふを言ったりしています。　女の子のうさぎが１から２０までを数えて回るという単純なストーリーなのですが、場面や登場人物？がたくさん変わって単調ではないのが良いです。絵がかわいいし、声も子供らしい声で親しみやすく、私自身も気に入っています。もちろん息子は今１番のお気に入りです。

今さら説明不要の、バイリンガル教育には鉄板のこのシリーズだが、本篇はかなりシュールで面白い。例えば、農家のおじさんが運んでいるスイカが、車から落ちてしまって坂を転がっていくのを「ワン、ツー、スリー」と数えて、おじさんに「Don't count them, catch them」と怒られても「忙しいから」と一蹴してしまうウサギの主人公とか、大人が見ると笑えるような場面が多い。息子も最近笑いがわかってきて、同じ所で笑っています。

３０分程度の内容なので、子供の集中力の範囲で見れます。　１～２０までばっちり数えれるようになりました！（日本語・英語で）ただ見てるだけなのに、子供のヒアリング力にも驚かされます。　このお値段で、すごく得した気分です。親が一緒に見てて、飽きずにつきあってあげられる内容です。我が家では、リチャードスキャリーの同じビデオシリーズ４本も揃えちゃいました！　まあそこまでしなくとも、一家に一本はおすすめです♪これをきっかけに、本人は英語にすごく興味を持ったらしく、英会話教室を自分からすすんで受講することになりました。

うさぎが町に出ていろいろなものを数えます。例えば家から出るとお友達が三輪車に乗ってやってきて・・・「１・２・３　３Ｃａｔｓ」という具合です。そして数字が画面いっぱいに出てきます。特に子どもがわかりやすいように卵が順番に割れたりスイカが転げ落ちるところを数えたりと動きとカウントがより分かりやすくさせています。１０まで数えると歌を歌っておさらい。その歌も数えたものが一緒に出てきてより分かりやすいと思います。２０まで数えていきます。数に興味があったり数字とカウントが分かるようになる年齢にはもっと効果的なような気がします。３０分はあっという間に終わってしまいちょっと物足りなかったかな？

このシリーズはたくさん持っているのですが、これが一番のお気に入りで、ビデオが切れてしまうまで見続けていました。このシリーズは歌がとてもかわいらしいのですが、この作品は、シリーズの中で、特にかわいい♪ウサギの声もかわいくて、よく子供が真似して歌を歌っていました。３歳くらいからこのシリーズを見続けた子供は今は９歳ですが、英語の先生から発音が非常にきれいだと褒められていて、英語に対して得意だという意識を持って楽しそうに勉強しています。学習時間はとても短いのに習得率がいいそうです。ビデオのおかげかなぁと思いました。色もそんなにケバケバしくないので眼にも穏やかですし、大人も充分に楽しめて、一緒に歌って英語を思い出せる作品です。

最初は20分そこそこでは短いのでは、と思いましたが、子供が集中してみるにはちょうど良い時間だと分かりました。うちの子供には生まれて間もない頃から見せて今１歳６ヶ月になりますが、いまだに飽きずに見ています。そして泣いているときもこのビデオを見せると泣き止んでしまう魔法のビデオです。音楽や絵も優しい感じなので子供も親しみが沸くんですかね～。

ある日、「今日をCOUNTING　DAYにしたらどう？」とお父さんに言われたうさぎのリリーは、町を歩きながら出会ったいろいろなものを順番に数えていき、１～２０まで数えます。１０までおわると一度家に帰ったリリーはお父さんとお母さんに、どんなものの数を数えたかを歌にしておしえます。ひとつ数字を数え終わるごとに、画面いっぱいの大きな数字がうつり、耳からだけでなく目からも数字を覚えられます。数え方もとてもゆっくりで、「one,twe,three...」と繰り返し何度も何度もカウントするのでとても覚えやすく、歌も軽快で楽しく数字が身につくと思います。2歳の息子は、リチャードスキャーリーのシリーズの中ではこれが一番のお気に入りのようで、「カウンティンデーみる！」と言って何度も見たがります。とっ!てもおすすめです！

数字好きの息子（２歳半）のお気に入りです。１〜２０まで数えていくという単純なストーリーですが、映像がかわいくて飽きません。絵本（数える対象は対応していなかったのが残念ですが）の方は、１〜１００まで（ただし、２０からは２０、３０、４０と１０ずつ）で、両方合わせて楽しんでいます。

うさぎの女の子が、街に出て、1～20までの物を見つけて数えていくという内容のビデオです。１つの○○を見つけて、「one」と数え、２つの××を見つけ、「one、two」と数え、・・・20の人参を見つけ、「one、two・・twenty　carrot」と繰り返し、1から数えていくので、子供も知らず知らずに20まで言えるようになります。我が子も「イレブン」「ツエルブ」「サーチーン」など子供らしい？発音で一緒に数えています。Richard Scarryのシリーズは、素朴な動物たちが子供ぽいかわいい声で話しかけ、発音も聞き取りやすく、親もリスニングの勉強になります。

身近なものの数を数えながら、数を学んでいく英語ビデオです。１、1から２、1から３と順番に数えていって最後は1から20まで数えます。主人公がとてもかわいくて、しかも発音が明瞭でゆっくりなのでかなり聞き取れます。私はエルモの独特な声が聞きづらくて好きではないのですが、こちらは癖のない声です。もうすぐ2歳になる息子のお気に入りで、毎日見せてとせがまれます。何度も同じ数字が出てくるので、今では３と４、９のところでは、シー、フォー、ナインといえるようになりました。他にも、途中に出てくる単語を覚えたり、見ているうちに自然にピックアップしているようです。時間もわりと短いので、1時間みせっぱなしになるということもありません。ただ、内容が非常に単純なので、少し大きい子には向かないかもしれません。

１歳１１ヶ月にして、このビデオを見て、あっという間に１から２０まで英語で数えられるようになってしまい、親が唖然としています・・・。しかも、発音がものすごくいいので、ビックリ。私は全くと言っていいほど、何も教えていないので、ただただ唖然です。料理をする間に、ちょこっと見ててね　という感じで、見せていたところ、リリーが可愛らしくてすっかり好きになってしまったようで、毎日繰り返してみていました。声が可愛らしいので、歌のところでは、体を左右に揺すってノリノリです。他のシリーズもほとんど持っていますが、これが一番好きみたいです。観察しているところによると、２番手はbusy people、３番はsilly storyのようです。男の子です。

リージョン１となってましたがうちのプレステで見ることができました。アンパンマン大好きな１歳８ヶ月の娘は機嫌が悪いときでなければ続けて一生懸命みています。機嫌の悪いときはアンパンマンかしまじろうしかダメみたいですが。内容はいたって簡単なので子供には理解しやすいみたいです。このシリーズは大好きなのでそろえていきたいと思います。

数字大好きの２歳半の息子に、英会話の勉強になればと思い買いました。数字が好きなので、大喜びで何回も見ています。ただ、数字に強い反応を示してしまい、目的の英会話の勉強には程遠かったかなと言う感じです。まだ買って１週間くらいですが、ワン、ツー、スリーの発音が良くなったような気がします！これからも、くり返し見ることによって、英会話の勉強になればいいと思っています。
