“Hefty” was one of the first terms that came to mind when I opened my package of Esie Houzie skewers. “Baby Broadswords” was another, right up there with “Dueling Sabers.” These are some sizable skewers! They're suitable for use in broiling or grilling, and they’d be equally at home holding Persian kabobs, Lebanese kebabs, Brazilian churrasco, or possibly an entire suckling pig.What do I like about this set of skewers? In no particular order:• The long prong is flattened – not rounded – meaning that food stays put without twirling around like a ballerina doing a pirouette. With traditional rounded skewers I usually have to use 2 side-by-side to keep meat and veggies from behaving like whirligigs when being turned.• There’s a notch at the pointy end which helps keep food from sliding off the skewer until YOU decide it’s the proper time.• When it IS the proper time for food to come off, the nifty slider makes short work of the task. (Pro tip – it helps to have lightly oiled the skewers before stacking them with meat destined for the grill.)• Stainless steel construction means they can safely be cleaned in the dishwasher, making one less thing that must be tediously washed by hand.• A sturdy carrying bag means they’re portable, making it easy to transport them for grilling or cooking while on the road or away from home.What do I not like about this set of skewers?• I wish they made a smaller size – perhaps a set of 4 - 12” skewers – that were also smaller in all other dimensions. Those would be handier for smaller households of 1 or 2, and for broiling indoors. Not everyone has access to a full-size outdoor Argentinian grill! Sometimes – especially during winter – I just want to be able to broil some kebabs in my countertop oven, but these sabers are far too large for that task.BOTTOM LINE: This set of skewers from Esie Houzie is a very good value, priced around $15 at the time of this review. (Plus, they sometimes offer coupons.) The skewers are solidly constructed and well made with some nice features not found on simpler, basic types of skewers. A set of these would make a great gift for the Grill Master in your life – or to keep for yourself.

We used to do kabobs all the time but always use the cheap wood ones that would burn so we kinda stopped making them, but with grill and griddling season here I decided we should make some but with better skewers. They came packaged just fine with no defects I could see. In the box, you get six of them. They each have one prong and a slider to move food off. I ran them through the dishwasher and they came out fine. We did chicken kabobs with onion, green pepper, and pineapple on our grill using these. The tines were sharp enough that all the goods slid on just fine and not too big that they broke them into pieces. They cooked just fine and when they were ready we just used the slider to pop them right off. All in all, these are a neat idea and work great, I look forward to doing kabobs more often now.

Outdoor grilling isn't a favorite pastime for me or my husband, despite our owning a very nice propane grill for several years. If we have a cookout, we make sure to a) keep it simple, usually with brats and burgers, and b) invite someone who has grilling expertise and enthusiasm. That said, we both love kabobs - and over the past couple of months as we continue to stay home for meals instead feeding our pre-pandemic penchant for going to restaurants, I've been practicing my skills with the oven's broiler. What I didn't have, till now, were metal skewers (I don't trust those wooden ones under a broiler inside the house).When I spotted this set of six, then, I decided they'd be perfect. And I'm happy to say they exceeded my expectations. They're lightweight enough to be comfortable and dishwasher safe for easy cleaning, but best of all, they're long enough - 16 inches - to hold plenty of goodies. To be honest, we could probably make a meal to satisfy both of us out of what we could screw onto just one of these babies. And, no hassles getting all that stuff off and onto our plates; there's a handy little slider at the handle end that pushes it all smoothly down the spike, thank you very much. The set comes in a nice bag with a carry handle for storage. If you know someone, or several someones who love to grill, this set would make a terrific gift (just be sure to get one for yourself as well).

These kabob skewers are stainless steel the perfect length for kabobs. I like that it has a metal clip that makes it easy to slide out meat and veggies. The pouch it comes in is slim and can fit into a drawer easily.

I chose these skewers because I love the sliding design. When you're done grilling whatever you have on your skewer, simply push the slider forward and your food slides right off. Such a great, well-built design! I have the triple skewer version of these skewers, but needed the single skewers like these for when I'm not grilling as much or want to separate what I'm grilling. Highly recommended!

This is a nice skewer set, which eliminates the need to use wooden, disposable ones. The skewer surface is flat and easy to clean. The pouch is a nice feature to keep the set organized when storing. Very nice and would make great gift.

Nice quality set, and comes with a case. Love the slide that removes what’s on the skewer. No more flying food!!!

I like the flat design it keeps the food from shifting around and the release mechanism is awesome these skewers are very well made and very sturdy and clean up is a breeze.
