It's a very unique piece of hardware
It's a little quirky, but it works and is reliable. You have to connect it to your router with a ethernet cable (although I heard that new updates allow you to just connect to WiFi--not sure). It doubles as a chime if you have the Eufy S340 doorbell, which I do. I connects beautifully and delivers fast video from my Eufy floodlight. You can upgrade the storage with a 2.5 hard drive, which I did. It's small device and that's a good thing. App is good and functional. I call it quirky because it does several things at once, and I don't mean that as a pejorative. The chime, the storage, the hub for all of your Eufy cameras. Plus it has some AI features as well that center on identifying familiar faces. They call it a home base because I'm not sure if they have a single name to describe its functionality. I give it 5 stars because local storage is hard to come by in a subscription-based, cloud storage world. In fact, I bought Eufy products for that very reason. I use the cloud, but I'm tired of it. I want hardware. I want storage I can hold. You barely get local storage on your phones or computers anymore. I'm glad to see something where you can toss few TBs in the case and call it a day.

More storage, easier to manage IMHO
I should note, that I am only a week into usage after my purchase and setup/install of the cameras and Homebase. If anything collapses and my cameras assist Skynet in the takeover on August 29, 2025, then I'll update later. I ordered the S380 Homebase to accompany three Eufy S340 Solocams. Then I ordered a Samsung 870EVO 1TB SSD. Hooking up the Homebase was a simple as a) installing the app on my iPhone 15Pro Max. b) plugging the ether-net cord into my router and then into the Homebase c) plugging the Homebase into a power source and d) following the instructions in the app to gain access to the Homebase and the cameras (pushing the sync button, scanning the QR codes on the base and cameras). I cannot vouch for anyone else's experience, as I have only mine, but the walk-through on the app was straightforward and worked easily. I had no issue getting the Homebase to recognize my router and then getting the Homebase to recognize the cameras. Even after I accidentally turned off the power to it, it was nothing more than ensuring that it was plugged back in. Less than two minutes later, all cameras were communicating with the Homebase again and I could run through the menus and playbacks without a problem. Installing the extra storage drive - on the face of it - was super easy. Just unplug the base, attach the drive and slide it back into the base. The Homebase recognized my SSD right away (Use the app to check the status and whether or not it 'sees' it), and all I had to do after that was format it. Boom, I have enough storage I won't have to worry about it for an extended period. Again, I cannot speak to anyone else's issues, but my set up and experience so far has been seamless. I do wonder if firmware updates have resolved some of the issues other folks experienced. So far so good and I have no complaints at the moment. I do believe that having your router centrally located in your home will help with connectivity. Also, I noted that by simply moving the Homebase out from BEHIND a TV and instead to the left of it and thus closer to two cameras, connectivity improved immediately for one camera. Knock on wood, ALL three cameras are solidly connected. This system was a relatively easy choice for me. I had two people I trust recommend it. It was on par with or a little less than other brands with similar capabilities and features (Nest, Ring, Arlo). There is no subscription fee and with the ability to dramatically upgrade storage, you likely will never need cloud storage if you're just using it for home security (I would say a business might have different needs). Not having to pay a subscription fee will (albeit slowly) offset the cost of the system and SSD I purchased.

Smooth Integration and Reliable
The Eufy HomeBase works very well as the central hub for managing multiple security devices. Setup is straightforward, and it keeps everything connected and running smoothly. The local storage feature is especially convenient and helps avoid extra subscription concerns. Overall, it’s a reliable and user-friendly system hub that improves the overall Eufy experience.

Nice extra storage option facial recognition not so much.
I think this is a great add on for my Eufy floodlight camera for saving my videos. With just a 2TB drive and lots of recordings during the day I still had plenty of storage space. The videos pull up pretty quickly and run very smoothly from the home base. I do not notice any lag or degradation of video quality with it either which is very impressive. I will say that the facial recognition is more of a gimmick than a real thing. Most the time it just calls me human instead of recognizing me showing my picture. You have to be pretty close to the floodlight for it to notice me or my wife. It does recognize my dogs as pets which is impressive. Maybe other Eufy cameras work better for this. All in all I am very happy with it. I will also say that the ease of use for the homebase is also very good. We will see how it holds up. On a side note the only thing I would not recommend is using a Crucial BX500 2TB drive for storage. The drive died in just over 20 days with very minimal use. I could understand if it was being written over and over again but it was not even 20GB written of the 2TB. The drive was pretty warm coming out of the homebase so maybe heat killed it. I am replacing it with a Samsung 870 SSD to see how that goes.

Updated and Works Well with Newer Cams
Picked up this updated homebase for the newer security cameras. Works great and has the storage and technology that is needed for most of the indoor and outdoor security cams. Easy set up to WiFi and it accepted every camera that was added to it on the first try. Seems very durable and well made, like my homebase 2. I like the idea I can add more storage in the future. AI tracking is very good for motion detection. I like the choice between color and black/white in Night Vision. Super easy to control many of the features when using the app. The app also has my Eufy homebase 2 for my older video doorbells along with the Homebase 3. Very nice to have everything being controlled in one app. All cams are detailed and crystal clear. This Homebase is definitely something to invest in. While Homebase 2 is very similar, many of the new (higher tech) cams can't connect to Homebase 2. Homebase 3 is the choice. Recommend it highly.

Great cameras ruined by a completely unreliable HomeBase 3
I wanted to like this system because the solar cameras themselves were actually great. They were easy to install, they looked good, and on the surface they seemed like a solid setup. But what is the point of having good cameras if the recorder they depend on does not work properly? For almost two years, this system has been a constant headache. The HomeBase 3 kept dropping offline, failing to stay stable, and repeatedly asking to reformat the hard drive. This was not some one-time glitch. It kept happening again and again. I would get alerts, then later find out the recordings were missing, not saved, or the system was once again telling me the drive needed to be reformatted. Now it has gotten to the point where it asks to format the hard drive and then cannot even complete the format. I used a proper in-spec drive from the beginning. I tried wired and wireless connections. I even replaced the HomeBase 3 once already. Same problems. At some point you stop troubleshooting and accept that the product is just not dependable. The worst part is that this is a security product. It is supposed to be the one thing you can count on to actually record events when they happen. Instead, this system creates false confidence. You think your home is being monitored, then later realize the footage is gone, the drive is corrupted, or the unit is once again stuck in some reformat loop. That is worse than a product that simply fails outright because you do not realize you have a problem until after you actually need the recording. Tech support was no help either. Every interaction felt like talking to someone reading from a script. Reboot it. Reset it. Start over. Same useless cycle every time. No real diagnosis, no real ownership, and no real solution. Just generic troubleshooting steps that do nothing when the problem keeps coming back for months and then years. At this point I am basically pulling the whole thing out and throwing it in the garbage. That is how bad this experience has been. It is especially frustrating because the cameras themselves gave me hope that the system might actually be good. But the HomeBase 3 completely ruined it. I gave this product far more chances than it deserved. Between the missing recordings, repeated hard drive issues, offline failures, replacement hardware, and terrible support, I would never recommend this to anyone who actually wants a dependable security system. Absolute garbage. Tech support has long wait times and limited suggestions besides reset. Spent hours on calls with support and if your within amazons return policy they tell you to ask for an exchange. Of course the problems are still there because they are software no hardware issues and then you’re past your return date. So disappointed in this purchase. Spent hundreds of dollars and now I’m basically giving up and throwing it in the garbage.

I am very pleased that I bought this product.
I bought the Eufy security homebase S380 along with a Eufy security camera about 6 or 7 months ago and I have been very pleased with both my purchases. I bought these products because they were priced right at the time, and I was looking for a solar security camera that I wouldn't have to worry about paying a subscription fee to each month to store my security camera videos. As for the Eufy security homebase, I do like the aesthetics or design of the homebase and it is small enough you can place it anywhere. If I remember correctly, the homebase come with 16 GBs of memory, but is expandable to 16 TB. I was fine with the 16 GB of memory that it came with as I deleted most of the videos my security camera captured, but did decide to add 1 TB of memory just in case I needed it later. The instructions were easy to follow, and it only took me a few minutes to set it up and the homebase connected easily to the Eufy security camera. When I added the additional memory, it was easy to install. In the 6 or 7 months that I have had the homebase I have not had any problems and/or issues, with either the homebase or security camera. I should also add that the videos saved by the security camera to the homebase are clear and are easily accessible through the Eufy app. If you don't want to pay any monthly subscription fees or if you don't want your security camera footage stored on someone else's server then this is the way to go. I am very pleased with both Eufy's homebase and their security camera, as they had all the features I had been looking, and it was a good price at the time. I do highly recommend this homebase.

Excellent for your home security setup no monthly fee very intuitive very customer friendly
Excellent and required for your eufy home setup for security. I can't say enough good things about these guys. In the beginning I had connectivity issues and they respond immediately inside the app they'll email you, I'm very happy with it I have a drug dealer in criminal living next to me in my apartment building and I had one of his people trying random keys in my lock I couldn't believe it so I got my whole home set up eufy and it's been amazing a piece of mind is back I can leave the house again without worrying someone's going to break in I have two devices connected to mine I had such a good experience with my eufy doorbell and the home base I expanded and got a pan and tilt internal camera that can continuously record and you can manage all this from the home base. Like I said I can't say enough good things about these guys I just had a really bad traumatic heart surgery a while back and I wasn't in fighting form and I live in an area that's kind of questionable as far as the people living directly around me this is brought a lot of Peace of mind to my life there's so much functionality here I can't go through it all it's amazing you can expand the storage so I got an SATA drive I think I went with the two terabyte for a good price it slides right in so expanding is not a problem and the best part is the people will reach out to you if you have any trouble with it like they are good about it. There are no monthly bills you can opt for things like a video archive so you can continuously record and you can even get 24-hour monitoring but you really in my opinion you don't need to go that far with it just buying this you can integrate it into your home Wi-Fi and you can monitor it yourself when you're away through an app and like I say it doesn't cost a cent won't you buy it you're set up that's what I like they put you in charge now I opted for a year of off-site storage and it was pretty inexpensive I think was a few bucks for a whole year and like I said that's an option you don't even got to pay anything once you got this if you got a Wi-Fi in your home you got it under control you can sit for like all kind of things different profiles so how all of your security items will behave like how they behave when you're away how they behave when you're out of town how they behave when you're home and you can program it all these different ways and it's a pretty straightforward situation once a very small learning curve I'd say when you're into the heart of day two you'll have it pretty much figured out and mastered by day three and that's not just on it 24/7 when you first get it you're going to you're going to learn it of course but in a couple days you're going to have the whole thing set up and you'll be a heck of a lot more secure you can literally watch your cameras live while you're in the store away from your home, you can flip between camera feeds like I have one inside and one on my door I want it all through the home base 3, and I'll just check the door check inside it is it good thing. Very happy customer and I have and do recommend it to my friends and family. It's like ring but without having a monthly fee pretty Sharp
