True Blood: Season 4

Great Blu-Rays, Bad DVDs
It seems most of the reviews of this season are about the show and not the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy that this season is sold in, since most of the reviews seem to have been written last year or early this year before the set even came out. The season itself I'd give five stars to, it was really good. The package the set came in, tho, only rates a four star review. The main reason for this is the DVD set included in the package. While the Blu-Ray set is well packed and protected, the DVD set is on two double sided DVDs that are just slid into a rough cardboard sleve that tends to scratch the back and half the front of the disk and leave the other half of the front of the disk exposed with no covering at all. Both of my DVD disks were scratched front and back and one had a big rough spot were it had rubbed hard against something. It does seem rather strange that the Blu-Rays, that hold far more data than a DVD does, had the shows spread out over 5 Blu-Ray disks, while the shows on the DVDs were on two double sided DVDs. Since there were only 12 shows totalling 720 minutes, that meant that each DVD side had about 180 minutes on it. Not a bad ratio if the DVDs were dual layer, but the DVDs were labeled as Standard and not Dual Layer, so that means the shows are going to be pretty well compressed to get 180 minutes on one side of a single layer DVD, so expect the quality of the DVD versions to not be very good. The Digital Copy was not even in the box, but had to be downloaded thru the internet. It did say that in the review, but that is just an extra step that shouldn't be necessary. If something is advertised as included with the product, it should actually be in the box, not stored on the web somewhere where you have to go find it and download it. And then, of course, there's all that time and bandwidth that's being used up to download all 12 episodes in a nicely vieweable format. As much as HBO charges for their shows, I would expect them to provide a decent container for the DVDs, at least a plastic slim case to hold the two DVDs. The cardboard case just looks cheap and actually damages the DVDs far more than protects them. I'd even be happy if they just put them in paper sleeves like old CDs rather than the scratchy cardboard sleeve. And since the price of blank DVDs is just a few pennies in bulk and a few more pennies to include the digital version of the shows, it certainly wouldn't hurt HBO's bottom line to include them in the case too.

Amazed
Ordered a used copy in good condition for a fraction of the price and somehow got a brand new copy still in the plastic shipped to me. Win win for me. Great product and shipping time.

If you're looking for a series with a great story line and exceptional acting, this one is definitely worth viewing
True Blood is an excellently written series. I have watched it since it began, and recently bought this dvd set for my nephew. It is nothing like the Twilight series, and in my experience, people who really love Twilight usually do not care for this series - again, simply because the two are nothing alike. Some of the main characters here (as well as supporting roles) are vampires, but that's not to say this is a show "about vampires." This series is really best described as being about the people and goings-on of a small, backwoods Louisiana town where some of the people just happen to be vampires. As mentioned above, the writing is excellent. One of the best aspects about this series is that it is definitely NOT predictable! Not in the least. You never know where the writers are going to take you...from one episode to the next, or from one season to the next. The character development, story lines, acting, directing, casting and effects are all first rate. Considering that the series has its fair share of killing (although not overly so, and it's certainly not the focus of the show), the series couldn't be called "dark" or gory by any means. I also would not call this show necessarily "violent" either. (Personally, I don't care for violent shows or movies, and I find this series to be tolerable on the violence scale. It does have killing and blood and bodies and body parts, after all there are vampires in it, but even so, it's done in a way that is not offensive or vulgar.)There is comedy, drama, action and suspense...and very well choreographed cliff-hangers to end each episode. Despite the blood, death and suspense, the series as a whole is well balanced with comedy and other character's story lines which help keep it from being overly dark. There is a quite a bit of nudity - not raunchy, but tasteful and almost artful. So if you're sensitive to nudity, just be forewarned...or simply cover your eyes during those parts, because the story lines and acting make this series well worth watching. I easily give 5-stars to every season.Another refreshing bonus is that the episode commentary for every season is also worth watching. The actors, directors and writers actually contribute thoughtful and interesting tidbits that add to the episodes and the series. It's best to watch the commentary after you've completed the season because sometimes they accidentally reveal things that happen later in that season. This series is well worth purchasing.

Oh look, another love interest for Sookie to play with . . .
I really wish True Blood would focus on someone other than Sookie. Kind of hard since it's her show/story and all but I'm getting really tired of the jerking games she keeps playing with everyone. And holy crap was I over Eric's Cullenification after about half an hour. He was funny and all when he couldn't figure himself out and was swimming naked and what not. I'll take that. But then Sookie got involved with her "precious fairy vagina" and screwed it all up. Literally. I was with Pam all the way. I was so done with Sookie, and still am. And then her blow off at the end just killed it for me. A hard decision to make? Peaches you made that decision at least fifteen times throughout the course of the show. Shut your face. The Lafayette/Jesus storyline saddened me and Marney was grating on my nerves by the end of it. She wasn't as annoying as the dryad woman from Season 2 but if the plotline had lasted longer than what it did I would have gotten there. Tara seems to get herself into these insane situations, mostly thanks to Sookie, and I really feel bad for this poor girl. Yeah, you are the decisions you make but she, and everyone else, was right in Season Five: Sookie is the angel of death. Someone needs to make a t-shirt of that. The bodies that little pixie has in her wake is ridiculous. And that's just the dead bodies. Let's not count the men she likes to string along because she can't make up her mind about anything ever in existence. God, I hate you, Sookie. Just get back together with Bill and be done with it. We ALL KNOW you love him the most. Stop toying with the rest of them. You're making them cranky.

True Blood.
True Blood was a really fun, interesting series to watch. Full of vampires, werewolves, and the leading lady, Sooke, a lady who can read peoples minds. It’s a great drama/fantasy/mystery show, and worth the watch. I loved it and enjoyed every season. Definitely worth binge watching a season at a time. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Enjoy.

I have read all the books
I love this show, sometimes they go a bit to over the top that is not nesesary. The actors playing the parts fit mostley to the book. they did a good job on Sam, Jason, Alside, Eric and bill.
