I couldn't be happier. We have had hogs visiting our garden to ...
Well what a success this turned out to be! The house is built really well, and the fact that it is lifted slightly off the ground by 'feet' so it can't get waterlogged is a real plus for my garden. I contacted a Tiggywinkles who advised me to put some dried leaves/dried moss and, ideally, a few handfuls of hay in the house to encourage the hogs to give it a try. So I scavenged some hay from a field (none of this pre-treated stuff from pet shops) and duly made a cosy bed, with a couple of extra handfuls dotted around the outside of the house, should any residents wish to top up on my efforts (as also advised by Tiggywinkles. Three days later and I have a resident! I couldn't be happier. We have had hogs visiting our garden to be fed (I use Chapelwood hedgehog food) for a couple of years but they live across the road - now I seem to have convinced one to stay with me :-)

Buy this lovely house and show that you care about our endangered hedgehogs
Very nice, and now has a hedgehog visitor so even better. Only thing is that lid slightly swells in the rain and the side catch is then stiff to lift off it's hook. However, the facility with which you can open the box and put in food is excellent. I have the box on a concrete slab to help prevent rot, but the little feet on the box lift it off the ground anyway. The labyrinth opening is good. I would thoroughly recommend this and urge you to buy hedgehog house as hedgehogs are so endangered. Incidentally, you should also make sure a hedgehog can pass from your garden into others, via a hole in your fence. If hedgehogs can't move around back gardens (which they have to do for food and to mate) they try to get out of your garden via your front and also then try to cross roads, with the inevitable and sad results. Please show you care and make holes in the base of your fences.

Well built box
This is the second Eco house we have ordered and the third box from this company. It arrived very quickly, was well packaged and was perfect for our hedgehog needs. It is very sturdy and well made. Updated slightly in that it no longer has a screw down roof but has a loop and clip which is actually easier to open for checking on the residents. It was filled with straw and sited same day as receiving it. Very pleased.

Hedgehog in residence
This hedgehog house is really well made and appears to be an improvement on earlier models in that it has a slightly sloping roof and a gap between one of the walls and the roof to allow ventilation but with sufficient overhang to stop the rain getting in. We’ve only had it a few days and there is a very large hedgehog asleep in there now, tucked down in the hay. I’d call that a success!

Durable
This is a very well constructed hedgehog house that even gained praise from my handyman who does a lot of woodworking and admired the workmanship and durability of this item. I have it placed underneath my hedge, in a sheltered position and have heaped lots of hedge cuttings and cut branches on top to provide insulation, as well as adding a couple of good handfuls of straw inside for the same reason. So far, in eight plus months there has been interest but no habitation although my old hedgehog house, recently repaired by my handyman, has a pair hibernating so I hope they may move house now that the weather is warming up again and any 'new smell' will have worn off.It appears cat-proof and looks very good in position; one of the best hedgehog houses I have seen and much better than my old one, which had nevertheless survived a decade in the garden, albeit protected by black bags on the top for weatherproofing and repaired by my handyman.

Robust, well designed - pricey, but worth it.
You pays your money and you takes your choices - yes, this is an expensive item. However, that said it is also very well made! It's solid, sensibly designed and looks and feels as robust as you could want. Currently ours has become home to at least one happy hog, setting itself up as a hibernation home for the winter. Overall very impressed with the quality - will report back on the longevity aspects in the Spring when the current occupant has moved out!

Great house, well constructed and nice size for smaller gardens.
It's a perfect size for our garden and we have some hedgehog residence using it. The house is well built and the design seems to give the hedgehogs the feeling of security as they are often seen inside it.We have recently discovered that we have a mum and 3 hoglets (less than 6 months old anyway) visiting our garden almost every night :)

If you care about Hedgehogs please sign the petition on the petition.parliament.uk website petition number 121264 to support them having fully protected status in law. This must be done before the dead line of 11th August 2016. Despite their serious decline in numbers they aren't fully protected by law so please help.
