Wonderful, nice to wake up to, alarm clock
Love this alarm clock. I was looking for a pleasant to wake up to alarm. The options for the alarm sounds are wonderful: Canon, which is a lovely classical music bit, is so gentle to wake up to, as are the others, a little soft kenny g, a chinese folksong - which is surprisingly nice, plus a few others, and of course there is a standard beeping one. You can also adjust the level of volume of the one you choose with easy, simple turn knobs on the front. The clock face is not lit unless in the middle of the night you wake up and want to see the time, in that case you just touch the top of the clock button, the clock will light up for a couple seconds so you can see the time, then it goes dark again. The only thing to remember is when you set the alarm and time dials on the back of the clock, make sure to go in the direction of the arrows when setting the time, or the alarm time, otherwise it can damage the clock. The arrows are small so look carefully. I put on my cheaters and could see the arrows just fine. You know how you wish they would design products that have really well thought out options. This clock is one of them. Kudos to whom ever designed this. I might buy a second one to have on hand in case they stop making these. They include 3 AA batteries. On top of all that, it is a really nice looking clock. I wasn't sure I would, but I really like the soft green color.

Simple and No Buzzing Alarm!
A simple analog alarm clock. Sturdy plastic design. Just the right size sitting on my night table. Simple to use - no extra buttons. Has six musical wake up sounds which are pleasant to the ear - no annoying alarm bell or buzz. (Actually there is a seventh tone, which is a beep.) It's one of the reasons I bought this alarm clock - I wanted a battery operated clock and a nice sound to wake up to. Couldn't find anything until I found this one. It's been keeping time and managing my wake up for two years now and no problems. As with any battery operated gadget, as the batteries are wearing down, the time may not be as "on time" and the night light and alarm may not function - just a reminder to change the batteries. Three AA batteries - haven't noticed any excessive battery wear. A four and a half star review - not a fan of the color options (black or green) - maybe okay for a kids room or dorm room but not my bedroom. Chose the green as it matched with my bedroom color, but, it was a concession with the purchase - so today, I decided to fix that and change the face. I'm happy with the purchase and pleased with my redesign!

Silent clock with adjustable volume and options for sounds to wake to
This is the best alarm clock I've ever had. It's silent movement. And the different sounds options is awesome. And a volume button is the bomb. I've always been extremely sensitive to noise. This is a gentle sound that is very pleasant to wake up to and doesn't scare the ever-lovin-life outta me. It's a keeper. Thanks for the great alarm clock!!

The Pro's Far Outweigh the Con's plus You Can Wake Up to Kenny G! ;-)
I hate waking up to a loud, irritating buzzer or beeping alarm, so I was looking for a clock that has nature sounds as an alternative. There certainly aren't many options out there. There are a bunch of sunrise simulation clocks that have nature sounds (I think most or all are made by the same manufacturer but with different fake brand names), but every single one of them turns on the light (and gradually increases it) 30 minutes before the alarm is set to go off. I don't want to be woken up 30 minutes early. I'd be ok if the light came on 5-10 minutes early, but not 30. I know that was a mild digression, but maybe you're considering one of those clocks since they have nature sounds. I ended up choosing this clock since it has numerous good things going for it: Pro's: 1.) you get six nice sound options to wake up to (not including the beep option). I like the birdsong, and don't laugh, but the Kenny G option is kind of nice too (just don't keep listening or you'll fall right back asleep since his music can do that to you. Lol) 2.) the nightlight comes on when the alarm sounds, so it essentially gives you two simultaneous ways to wake up (which I wasn't aware of when I purchased it). I have to turn the clock on an angle so it doesn't shine directly in my eyes since the light is a bit of a jolt when you're in a deep sleep in a very dark room. 3.) no ticking to keep you up all night (hooray!) But you already knew that. 4.) I like the simple front controls for changing the wake up sound options or the sound level. 5.) Speaking of the sound level, this clock can definitely put out the volume if you need it to. If you're a deep sleeper, I would have to believe that this thing would be able to wake you. If you accidentally turn the volume button all the way down, the volume is not zero - it is still enough to wake me, which is a good thing. 6.) I sent an email to the vendor and they did reply back in a day or so (more about that later) so at least they're reading their email and replying. They seem like nice people. 7.) the clock seems to be keeping accurate time so far. 8.) the price was very affordable and they even threw in three batteries 9.) Besides the nightlight coming on when the alarm goes off, it's also a nice plus if you NEED to turn on a light in the middle of the night. Maybe you heard a disturbing sound in the dark, so you want some light to see if Freddy, Jason, or Mike have sauntered into your room. The light is easy to find since it has a sizable button on top. Ironically, the nightlight can also be part of a con (see below). Neutral (neither a pro or a con but worth mentioning): 1.) the clock is a bit larger than I initially expected so not really a travel alarm clock, but not an issue for me, since I only intended it for our bedroom. (To be fair, it wasn't marketed as a travel clock). Con's: 1.) the glow-in-the-dark hands on the clock are pathetic, so you can't see what time it is in the middle of the night. If you want to see the time, you need to hit the nightlight, and it seems pretty bright when the room is pitch black. I prefer to lay there and ponder the time instead (unless I think I hear Freddy, Jason, or Mike walking in and then the bright light becomes a pro - see above). 2.) The alarm is consistently 8 minutes off. That's not a major issue for me since I just have to consistently set it for 8 minutes earlier, but I still feel that it's a negative since it's not accurate. I sent an email to the vendor, and they nicely replied that you can't expect analog clocks to be accurate when it comes to the alarm setting. It's been a very long time since I last had an analog alarm clock, but my recollection is the alarm setting on that clock was always dead-on accurate. Oh well. Bottom line is it's a very good clock overall and definitely very nice to wake up to, therefore I can deal with its two quirks and smile each morning as the relaxing sounds of Kenny G permeate the air....

You can Customize the Volume and Type of Alarm. Great alarm!
Great alarm! You can set the volume of the alarm so if you are a light sleeper you don't get blasted out of bed and loud enough for heavy sleepers. I keep it in the bathroom and the alarm is loud enough from another room that I had to turn it down from maximum setting. You can also select your choice of alarm, there is the traditional buzz, there are several piano sonatas to chose from and one nature sounds of birds chirping which I wanted to chose but is not rousing enough to wake me up. It's a little bit more expensive than a straight alarm clock but so much more pleasant to wake up to with choice of alarms and volume control. If it matters to you, you can press the snooze button and it illuminates the clock face, I check the time when I have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Of course I bought it because it didn't have the ticking second hand which would keep me awake and the other benefits are definitely a bonus and well worth it.

Button locations & sound are great but alarm +/-10 min off
If I was not working, and I only had to get up *roughly* at a certain time, this would be an awesome clock. I searched really hard, on Amazon and Google, to find a well-made alarm clock that was: (1) battery-operated so I didnโt have to be near an outlet to plug in the cord, (2) that had a pleasant sounding alarm, since I donโt wanna wake up my wife at 3 AM like I have to get up at, and if itโs pleasant enough, and quiet enough, she can sleep through it, (3) that when I turned off the alarm, I didnโt have to turn over the clock, look for a button, fumble, or accidentally reset the time or the alarm while turning off the alarm, (4) that I could clearly tell if the alarm was on or off at any given point, and (5) that I could easily-enough read the time in the night, if I woke up and was trying to see how much more time I had before I had to get up. This clock does all those things. (1) It comes with just the three AA batteries you need, End it does have a nice feature that the manufacturer mentions: the back latch stays attached to the clock and hinges downward when you open it to insert or remove the batteries. Itโs a small touch to the design but it is nice to not to have to worry about losing the back cover for the batteries. There is no ability to plug it into an outlet. (2) This alarm clock really shines in the โpleasant soundsโ department. There are six different sounds it can make, from chirping birds to different kinds of music, pleasant things like that, and there is a separate volume adjustment. Each sound can turn down low or any gradation up to high. Both the low and the high would probably please most desired variations. This is my favorite part about this clock: the amount of variability and adjustability in the type of sound and the volume of the sound. Well done designers. I also like that the knobs to adjust the type of sound choice, and the volume of each sound choice, are on the front of the clock, cannot be mistaken for any other knob, are clearly marked, and are easily handled. There is zero fumbling or questions when dealing with the sound and volume options. (3) Another place this clock shines is how to turn off the alarm, or turn it on. There is an up/down toggle switch on the side of the clock that turns the alarm on and off. That button could not be confused or mistaken for anything else. And it cannot be accidentally pressed when youโre doing other things. That is a very good design too. I could turn it off in my sleep when I am about to get up, but I wonโt accidentally turn it off in my sleep when I need it on. (4) As it says above, itโs easily noticeable if the alarm is on or off. You just feel the position of the button. You can visually see the button easily in the daylight, and you can easily feel it in the dark to see if itโs on or off. Up is on. Down is off. (5) There is a very large, easy to press, snooze/light button running along the top of the clock. After you once press & release the snooze/light button, a small bulb illuminates the clock-face for approximately five seconds, then turns itself off automatically. (6) An additional bonus is that the second hand is a silent, sweep, second hand. There is no ticking from this clock. These are all good things. Very good things. HOWEVERโฆ (!!!)โฆ.it Does NOT Alarm at the time I set, accurately! So it defeats the whole purpose of having a very well designed alarm clock, if it canโt accurately wake you up at the time you desire. The manufacture has placed many notes on the clock, in the description, and in the packaging/box, that say not to turn the time-setting knob counterclockwise, โor quartz movement will be damaged or inaccurate.โ I highly doubt that is what is damaging the accuracy of this alarm clock โ if so, then they need to re-design it. There is no way a person is going to accidentally set the time at 1:05 instead of one, and then swing 12 times clockwise around to correct it, rather than sweeping backwards (counter clockwise) five seconds. We humans just arenโt going to do that, unless it *physically* didnโt go backwards. I think that the manufacturers are inaccurately blaming the clockโs inability to be accurate on users setting the time by turning the hand counterclockwise. So if you can get up +/- 10 minutes from your intended alarm time, this is a great clock for you. If you need an accurate wake up time, this is not your best bet.

What a terrific find - where has this thing been all my working life
Ok people. As a 70 year old White male I was able to have this little gem set up and operating in two minutes. Where has this little beauty been all my working career. Its lovely. Easy to set up, it came with batteries and the instructions are a breeze. The ability to set the alarm to one of five soft playing music tunes ,plus control the volume is the high point No more glaring buzz or bell ringing. The alarms set switch on/off it easy to locate. I would have paid up to have had this on my nightstand when I was still holding down a job. Its a find looking sort of retro style analog devise. I selected the Black/White model. As an old poop that has survived stoke, this was simple to setup and easy to read and set. FIVE STARS any day of the week. Its a good good value. RP - Florence, Arizona

I was hoping there would be more soothing pleasant music options as alarm sounds
The Alarm clock is really nice and comes in a nice sturdy cardboard box. It is larger than expected, but still a nice size. The led light is a also nice soothing light when used in the middle of the night (and what a good useful feature). I bought this alarm clock for two reasons: one because it is silent without any constant ticking sound, and two because it is the only one I could find on amazon that gives the option of seven different alarm sounds. I just wish there were different sounds than the ones this clock offers, because the first five are really similar sounding type music that I did not find to fit my taste, and one is the annoying standard alarm sound. (If I had wanted the annoying alarm sound, I could have selected any other available alarm clock on the market. The one I use is the birds chirping sound. Thank goodness that that one exists, but I expected more from the alarm sound options. Otherwise, this is a perfectly well made, nice looking, functional alarm clock for those who want to avoid using cell phones as alarm clock.
