I was amused by the foam inserts, but I can see how they'd be protective if you intended to jog in it or something. I took them out, and it doesn't seem to have hurt anything. When donning an athletic bra that's snug enough to work well, I usually spend half a minute in a state of panic. This one, for whatever reason, goes on without the usual thrashing and swearing.
