Well made
These chaps feel well made. They slide over your pants and have a strap that goes around your belt to hold them up. They wouldn’t go over my boots so I had to put the chaps on then put boots on last and tighten the straps. The leg straps could have been a little longer I had to adjust them all the way out to go around my boots. The part that’s thick only goes up about 12” the top is around 4” below my knee. I’m guessing this is the “snake proof” part the rest is thin while I’m sure it would stop briars and thorns I don’t think it would stop a snake. Most bites are down low on your legs from what I’ve read so this should suffice while walking around where snakes are likely to be. I won’t be going out looking for a rattlesnake to test them but I do feel better wearing them in the woods than without any protection at all. I believe they will hold up well but if not I’ll update this review. Thanks for reading

Good protection
Very good protection. Material is good. Will protect against snake bites and even small dog bites. Couple negatives are the fastener for holding it up is one that hooks to your belt not come back around and clip like it description, also the board for protection doesn't go completely around so if you put on as described the back of your calf will be vulnerable which is why 2 separate pics(one as described and one with the slits on the inside) and that all depend on how big your legs are. It does wrap all the way around if you have skinny calves but if your a big guy then your safer having split on the inside. I recommend these to anyone that hunts or works in areas that subject to snakes.

Tough material
I gave these four stars because you have to take your shoe off to put these on. The knee area is not adjustable, just the calf area. Other than that, they are fairly comfy to wear. Has a thick material

Comfortable and effective
These chaps are well made and easy to adjust. They are comfortable and clean up easily. With summer on the way, I feel a lot safer kicking through the high weeds with these on.

Plenty of protection with sizes big enough for bigger fellas!
I was very plesantly surprised with these chaps! See I'm a biog fella at 6'2 and 270lbs. I didn't hold out much hope they the XL size would fit but they did and then some! So if you are a bigger guy, you should have no problem wearing these. The bottom section of the gaiters have extra padding and should provide plenty of protection from snake bites. I don't believe there are snake fangs long enough to make it through the material. Just make sure you also wear some thick leather boots because these won't provide protection in that area.I took one star off because I feel the price is a tad high for what you are getting here. If these were priced around $40 they would be a 5 star product for sure.

Open back; must wear boots for full protection as back is open
These are great for protection from stickers and such.As long as the snake tries to bite you from the front your good to go there too.The snake bite protection only runs up the front of the chaps. The back is open and meant to be overlapped to cover and protect with the standard material only.If you thought you'd wear these with shoes vs. boots you will not be as protected because of the design.Still great helper for tall week situations and keeps the bugs out.Presume it would protect from snakes attacking from the front and possibly side.

Good protection in the front
These are well made and provide good protection in the front. The back of them are open so you have to wear boots to get all around protection.

Great Piece Mind Especially Now
I have accepted that our land and this part of rural GA is infested with poisonous snakes. I have a serious aversion to said snakes which has been greatly enhanced by the two separate copperhead snake bite incidences over experienced lately. And the timber rattlesnake population has increased dramatically the past couple of years. Now I have seen the first diamond back rattlesnake I've ever seen around right here just 100 yards from our home. I have on set of snake proof leggings which only protect to the knee. With these diamondbacks, I feel a little more protected with a full set of chaps just in case I miss all the warning and warning signs and walk right up on one. I had a friend drop by the other day and I took these and gave him the shorter set when we set out to go take care of some fencing issues that no doubt took us through some very good habitat for all the snake types I have mentioned. I haven't been struck yet and I hope I don't while walking, but they have also protected my legs against Brian's, Bradford pear thorns and so on.
