My rat loves it, I replaced the perch rod with a lava stone ledge from Kaytee and switched the side the fittings were on so it attached to the inside of the cage instead of outside like shown. Just make sure they can reach the climbing ledge somehow, (other ledges or just above a cage platform) you can stuff it with soft things for them to burrow in like fabric scraps, but my rat, Cloudy, kept pulling everything out to horde her food lol.

This is a great nesting box for parakeets or maybe lovebirds at the biggest. I definitely wouldn't say that they fit cockatiels or conures unless you want them to be cramped for space. For parakeets and lovebirds however, it's a great size! I love the flap on the top, and viewing window so that you can cover it and not disturb mama, but also make sure everything is okay on the inside. Well made and easy to put together.

So even though this is a parakeet bird box, I thought I'd try this as an outdoor bird house because I liked the see through feature. It is in an arborvitae of mine and I put all my nest boxes out way too late this season so I think I'll have to wait till next season to see if they get any usage.As an nest box overall, this is well made. it has a nice entry hole with a post that can be attached below it. It comes with all the hardware needed for that and for mounting to the parakeet cage (when used properly for a parakeet). It also has a pop up door that can be opened and accessed, a window on one end so you can see what's going on, and a synthetic nest included in case the bird wants to use it and not build their own? I don't know what parakeets do. I'm debating taking it out because I think outdoor birds would rather build their own.Anyway--we'll see if an outdoor bird will use it. I think if you have a parakeet--it would probably work great!

Sturdy, heavy and great concept, except my bird refuse to even think about going into it.The hole is small. Maybe good for a parakeet or finch. Some really small bird.It is still hanging in their cage taking up space. They wont even sit on top of it.

I have green cheek conures and previously had a small nesting box where they couldn't fit in the hole made into the box. This box is double the size and the hole is larger, so they're able to fit. Not only that but both my birds fit in there if they need to. I love that the hole has a metal ring covering it, to prevent any splinters or sharpness when getting in through there. It also came with a little premade nest inside which is so cute and provides them with nesting material that they need. I also love that it has a clear panel on the side in case you want to peek in and see without having to open up the top and disturbing them. I highly recommend!

Very nice nest box! This would work for finches or maybe parakeets, though it doesn’t have an indented spot for parakeet eggs to sit, so they may roll around too much (with the way parakeets don’t always like to keep padding in their nests).It’s well made. No big splinters or nails shooting out wrong. I like the see-through side. The hinges and latch are cheap hardware, but sufficient.The nest box is definitely worth the current $16.Note: this nest box is also great for Syrian hamsters, as a hideout.
