excellent binnocular
A very high standard binocular, amongst the best in its price range and substantially cheaper than a high street price.Bright and clear optical performance is aided by BAK-4 prisms, and multi coated lenses. UV protection also. Hard rubber armoured body with an ergonomic design make them comfortable to hold, and the black body colour adds to the professional appearance. Long eye relief is a real plus, these can be adjusted. 50mm lenses add greatly to hand held stability, and 12 x magnification is still practical hand held, although there is a standard 5mm thread for a tripod mount, which will be great for basic astronomy.Be reassured you are buying from a trusted brand name and the great value Amazon offer.

Only Roof prism costing £500+ that can match this pair!!
I will keep this review very short.I have gone through possibly 10 roof prism binoculars with ED glass and dielectric prism and phase correction coating & BAk4 prism price anywhere between £350 and £450.Now these roof prism binoculars aren’t bad and some have better optics than others BUT you are not going to beat a Porro unless you move up to a Zeiss conquest. I am saying this because these Olympus are unbelievable when it comes to contrast/sharpness and brightness. You can believe all that hype of ED glass but when putting this one side by side to my 10x42 Bushnell ED engage the Olympus put it to shame. The image in the Olympus has a 3D effect and depth, the colour reproduction is second to none however, by far the biggest highlight is the light transmission across the spectrum, only few roof prism instruments with a price tag two or three times that can reach that level. They have a substantial weight but confortable to hold. I would certainly drag the Olympus over the Bushnell if I was birding in a cloudy day or heavily shaded forest.

Good binoculars; but poor case and easily lost lens caps
These handsome binoculars give a clear, precise and stable image with smooth focussing. They appear to be very well made, and solid - slightly on the heavy side, but OK.The carrying case is of poor quality, without its own straps but with apertures for the binocular straps. The case thus becomes a nuisance when the instrument is taken out of it in the field. The larger lens caps fully detach and so are easily lost (the smaller caps clip to the binocular strap). The multi-language instructions are somewhat confusing in the English version. Not quite spoiling the ship, but a ha'porth of tar would have been well applied even if a few pounds had been added to the price.A warning; I ordered these by express delivery from Amazon, paying for this, but instead of being delivered in 1 to 2 days they took six days to arrive (they were shipped from Germany).

Very, very good.
This review is for the Olympus 12 X 50 EXPS binoculars..My old binoculars are Scope 7 X 50 and are about fifty years old, even so they were very much better than any, admittedly cheaper, binoculars I have tried in recent years - they had greyed, dulled images and not so sharp. This led me to believe that my old ones were of exceptional quality, BUT, the clarity and brightness of the image from the the Olympus 12 X 50s is astounding. I don't know how with 3 times the area magnification compared to the old ones (12 squared divided by 7 squared = 144 / 49 = 3 approx.) it can be so bright and clear, but it obviously is..The twist up/down eye relief is better than the folding rubber ones on the old pair. Also these are less bulky and lighter too - no problem at all with hand-shake..Highly recommended. For their quality, these are very cheap at £105 - price seems to fluctuate a little on Amazon where I got my pair.MT

Cannot Collimate these binoculars
Generally a good quality binocular for the price I paid in 2016. However, through time and use, they have gradually become out of collimation (double vision) which can occur in most porro prism binoculars. Unlike a lot of binoculars, there is no obvious way to be able to find or adjust the prism collimation screws to fix the problem. I recently contacted the company who appear to own the rights to the binoculars for a solution. Their reply is as follows:-Dear Mr. Maurice,Good morning.Greetings from OM Digital Solutions.According to our internal records, there is no information on how to collimate our binoculars, therefore, we do not recommend you to make the changes. In case any additional assistance is needed, feel free to contact us.Thank you for your time and wishes of a good day ahead! Therefore, be very careful handling, transporting and using these binoculars if you buy them.If anyone knows how to collimate these, reply here, please.

Olympus 12 x 50 EXPS I Binocular
The Olympus Binoculars will replace a pair of 20 year old, well worn Miranda 10x50 binoculars.I deliberated for days between the Olympus or a pair of nitrogen filled Nikon Action EX 12x50 CF binoculars; finally choosing the Olympus because they mentioned BaK4 prisms in the specification while the Nikon pair did not.Another factor for me was the close focus distance. Olympus quote 6m and Nikon quote 7m.As I use the binoculars mainly for viewing wildlife within my garden, the shorter focus distance was better for me.The Olympus binoculars produce an image that is beautifully clear, crisp and bright. They are brilliant compared to my old Miranda pair.I wear glasses but, because of the wide range dioptre correction, I can use these binoculars without my glasses. The carrying case is a bit of a let down, with a 'faux suede' finish, but my binoculars are usually out on the kitchen table-ready for use, so I don't keep them in it anyway.I am very happy with the Olympus Binoculars and consider them a very good buy at the price.

Very bad optical quality - a properly focused image can not be obtained - quite unacceptable. I thought Olympus made quality stuff - not in this case. Buy Celestron, Barr & Stroud, Nikon or Orion and get real quality for less money.
