Tracks lifting on pcb
Had quite a few tracks lifting on the circuit board. Did not take much heat before the tracks came off from the board. After completing the build just had buzzing no sound. Checked everything and nothing obvious was wrong with it. Now in the dustbin.

Speakers a problem
The sound quality with my Sennheiser speakers was superb. I could only give 4 stars because 1 Ecapacitor was missing {luckily i had a spare},and it took me some time to sort out those speaker connections.I did not know what those tabs were for. When i switched on the hum was terrible i had to unsolder the speakers then solder those tabs to the adjacent speaker lead then resolder back into the circuit board and all was well .I hope this will help other constructors.Am now delighted and would recommend.

Failed after a week of use, faulty capacitors.
Capacitors failed after about a week so no sound. Easy to assemble, but hardly worth the money as it failed after a week.

Typical Velleman kit, easy to build and use.
I've built two of these kits now. The first was for an acquaintance whose family always listens to the TV at very low volumes, he needed something to boost the sibilants and volume a bit. (Doesn't have a tone control but it seems slightly trebly anyway). The only trouble was if one of his family spoke at normal level or dropped something it deafened him! The boost is pretty good as is sound quality. It's for that reason I've bought another kit - a cheap and cheerful stereo mic preamp for nature recordings.Like all Velleman kits it's easy to build. One of the easier. The components are taped in the order in which they have to go in the PC board. Component positions are numbered. It needs some soldering skill and a multimeter is useful in case you run into trouble (always a good purchase if you're intend this as a hobby). The kit comes with PC board, all components and a battery holder. The 3 AAs are not supplied, nor a case and earphones. With Sony earbuds the batteries last many hours.

Wow! Superman style hearing
Oh my god if you want super-hero style hearing or your ears are getting older & suffering then this kit is for you!!I've tried a lot of D.I.Y kits and this one is excellent quality, plus the sound it gives is wow! wee I could hear my heart beat, no joke I could literally hear a pin drop. Velleman nailed it with this kit. I've messed with some kits in my time to get passed boredom and such, why waiting on parts for other things but.. this kit delivers 100% recommended.

Useful hearing amplifier
Easy to build, though you need to be careful when soldering the microphones to the pins to ensure that you solder both the lead and casing on the -ve side.Bought for an aging relative who doesn't hear very well, but won't invest in a proper hearing aid. It works well and will fit in a shirt pocket.

Kits that work
Velleman make great wee kits that work. Instructions clear and easily understood. They may be a bit dearer than others you can buy but quality is always worth it. My grandson was very happy with the end result.

Beautiful to build. Nice experience.
Worked from the first time. Clear and loud sound. Works great even with a regular phone headset.
