Roberts Unologic DAB/FM RDS Digital Radio
I had been researching DAB radios for some time with the intention of getting a portable set.Having seen several on here and read reviews, some of which weren't very complimentary, I was pleasantly surprised to read the reviews for this product. So my mind was made up!The radio arrived well packed within just over three days, I had chosen the free postage option so it's always a few days wait.I had also bought a pack of four rechargeable AA batteries to use with this unit, these came the day before so I was able to charge them up ready. The radio has a built in charger, which is a brilliant idea!I have to say that I am delighted and pleasantly surprised as to how good this radio is.Performance is superb, the sound quality is really good. There is no tone control and the sound is quite bassy, but I like that so it's not a problem. It worked as soon as I'd installed the batteries and I was able to get it going without reading the instruction manual.I am a licensed radio amateur and am quite used to playing with radios, so this came as second nature really. The favourite preset was already on Classic FM which was quite pleasing, so that came on as soon as I switched it on and tuned in automatically! The build quality is second to non. It feels nice and solid with no creaking joints, which one can get with cheap items.Setting it up with preset stations is easy and the whole process is intuitive.I have used it quite a lot today, a new toy, and the batteries still have plenty of charge. The controls are nice and have a quality feel. The volume is analogue so non of those silly clicks as you select your best listening level. The manual tuning is easy to use as is the auto tuning. There is an inset at the back of the radio for ones fingers to grip when moving it about the house. This is much better than a handle, which can get in the way of the aerial. One can connect it to a computer should there be any firmware updates at some point. It's a pity a lead isn't supplied for this!I really can't find anything I don't like about it, it's so simple to use and nice to listen to.Buy with confidence and enjoy a quality product!

Excellent radio but I am appalled with Amazon
This item has just been delivered by Royal Mail in England, having been shipped by Amazon EU Sarl. Amazon hadn't wrapped the package, or put it in a box or plastic bag before sending it. Nothing. The shipping label had been stuck to the front of the manufacturer's box. They hadn't even taped the opening end of the box shut, so no pretence at security for the shipment whatsoever. Also thank goodness the postie delivered this package on a fine, dry day.I am unhappy that strangers can see what I have bought, and given that I have had one or two packages go missing from Amazon over the years I am also unhappy with the lack of security for the contents. It is, after all, only my word that something doesn't turn up. I am trying to imagine who would send such an item off in the post this way, and can only conclude that the Amazon warehouse has employed someone who either doesn't give a damn or is so foolish that they cannot see what they did is wrong. Mindblowing, and I am going to reflect upon whether I use Amazon for such items in future. The radio itself is sturdy and well built, and the manufacturer's packaging is good (just as well in this particular instance). It has clear, easy to understand instructions and allows one to use mains, rechargeable or throw away batteries. With rechargeable there is a built-in charger, but you can't see it, it just works away in the background. Excellent choice of power options then. The sound is mellow, rich and clear, and the radio is capable of manual or auto tuning. A lovely radio that deserves 5 stars. I recommend the radio wholeheartedly, not sure about buying it from Amazon EU though. Amazon isn't too good at taking public criticism hence me putting my complaint here.

Very good but a few niggles
I already own a Roberts radio, you might say the mains-powered version of this one. I like this new one as it is both mains and battery powered AND can recharge the AA NiMH batteries when still in the unit. I agree with other reviewers: there are a couple of design issues that Roberts could improve upon.Pros:~ Can store both FM and DAB presets and easily access them by rotating the front dial.~ In DAB, I can choose to display all available stations in my area, or just the ones I have set as presets / favourites. This is done by the use of the heart symbol. The same can be done for showing all FM frequencies, or only the ones that have stations I have set as presets~ Good loud speaker~ A fairly small unit about 9 x 6" and light in weight~ The ability to choose what the display shows - track info, time, technical data etc~ Rechargeable batteries are recharged internally when plugged into the mains.~ The charger is a decent one that monitors charge and discharge and protects the batteries from an excess of either.Cons:~ When on battery, you get NO warning from the radio that they are about to go. There is a red light low battery warning, but it illuminates AS THE BATTERIES DIE only.~ The radio doesn't seem to get any where near the published run time on battery. I am using new 2400mAh rechargeable batteries from Amazon that have only ever been used in this radio. They have gone through a few charge cycles. At moderate volume the radio managed 3.5 hours.~ The position of the power button does tend to get pressed when you pick the radio up, but I just needed to get used to lifting it by the designed method from above (there is a finger slot on the back for this purpose).
