So Much Funnier Than I Remembered
This series is so much funnier than I remember as a child. I watched half a dozen episodes on the telly and that firmly convinced me to buy the DVD.It is very well cast. Not only are Brian Murphy (No relation) & Yootha Joyce excellent in their roles, but so are the actors playing their long-suffering neighbours, the Fourmiles, and Mildred's sister (who revels in showing off her wealth to her sister) & brother in law. And, most of all, the superb Roy Kinnear in his occasional role as George's scheming mate, Jerry. We watch one or two episodes a night and its the funniest thing I've seen in ages. Have watched series 2-5 (Don't ask) and about to start on series 1. Can't wait!

Great British comedy that needs to get out there more!
Loved this series! The only complaint I had was that it had to eventually end. I'm quite saddened that this series doesn't get shown to it's credibility on today's telly therefore seemingly not getting as much recognition as it deserves amongst new and younger viewers.I do love British comedy, the dry and insensitive wit we dish out to our nearest and dearest always gets me laughing and whether it be Fawlty Towers or My family this series had a perfect blend of both. Yootha Joyce is a pleasure to watch with her never ending expressions of just wanting to be noticed (Most favourably in the form of getting an early night). and Brian Murphy captures the arrogant but innocent 'typical' working class and proud Englishman to perfection. Not to mention all the other hilarious characters that get caught up along the way from the con man best friend to snobbish neighbour next door. George and Mildred would certianly give the likes of Basil and Sybil a run for their money as the never ending sparing couple" :)

Pity about the Quality Assurance ...
I am pleased to now own the complete set of George and Mildred. However, I was somewhat dismayed to receive the CD packet with two DVDs loose within the cover. Whoever packed these in the factory was either distracted or learning how to do it. Unfortunately, a trip to Australia saw some light scratches develop on two of the disks on the playing surface. Not how you would expect to find a new set of DVDs.(For whatever reason Amazon UK are now no longer asking for packing feedback). However, I still get a laugh out of the programs.

Great laughs
I always thought Man About the House was better, because it had a more younger Richard O'Sullivan and Paula Willcox. But, the spin off George and Mildred, was good and well worth the money. It is a shame that series was left uncompleted due to the sudden death of Yooth Joyce. A classic British comedy that never failed to entertain.Would highly recommend.

They don't make em like this no more!
This is the second spin off from that great series "Man about the house" (the third being Robin's Nest). Made in the late seventies it tells the fortunes (or mis-fortunes) of George & Mildred who have moved on from the address where M.A.T.H was set. George is the rather hen pecked, work shy, money schemer, why Mildred is the sex starved, fustrated forty something always dreaming of a better life.Regulars in the show are their next door neighbours Geoffry and Ann Fourmile,(played wonderfully by Norman Ashley and Shelia Fern)and there always getting into trouble son Tristrom. Mildreds Snobby sister and her husband often turns up taking pleasure as to where shes parked her new "Jaguar XJ6" and hands mildred her new fur coat to hang up. Sadly Yootha Joyce passed away after the Fifth series, but this is the best way to remember her talanted acting and her on screen chemistry with Brian Murphy. As i said at the start they do not make them like this anymore. No smut, swearing on sex scences, a slice of a care free 70's age.YOU WILL enjoy this.....!

A great show in times gone bye
One of the first British comedies I can remember watching when I was a kid. I was born in the same year as Nicolas Owen and watching it now, makes me realise how long ago it was. It hasn't really dated as much as some of comedies of a similar time. It's one of my favourite shows of all time, in my top 5 at least.

classic comedy and better than most
finally i have finished this series and what a winner tragedy about yootha joyce but what a legacy.perhaps the most fitting tribute is that they never tried to replace her with another charecter, that would have been a mistakeI almost envy people who have never seen this before as they have a great deal of pleasure to come
