Definitely an interesting book
Bought this book to extend my knowledge on owning my own business. Chet explains multiple ways and tricks and tips on how to make your business better when it comes to sales. I really enjoyed reading some of the tips and tricks and the chapters regarding the scripts for sales teams is fantastic

Exceptional book
This is the 3rd purchased, my 1st copy lend to my former boss, she loves it. The book never return back to me. So I had to buy another one. This time I bought 4 more copies and gave it to the President, SVP, VP in the new company that I'm currently working for. This book did a wonderful job concluded what REALLY matters to a business: create a system and create sales strategies, stay focus with consistent efforts. When I came to my last job, it was chaotic and most people cannot last 3 months in that position. I used the ideas in this book, approached my boss, offered to help her to do an audit and see where went wrong, I wrote a training guide to standardize how we operate and things getting much better. I saw very little value to rehab our division because it does not bring in revenue, so I proposed the idea to help improving company's sales and marketing division. Then the company was hit by lawsuit so I wasn't able to. This book can help your company dominate the market, position yourself, handle the growth and scale fast. The only piece missing is corporate finance. Since I read at least 1 business and investing book per week I was constantly evolving. I realized merely has stunning sales record and a great business system would not be enough. Currently, I am learning how to read financial statement like lenders or investors. And I come to realization that majority of the management were not financially sophisticated enough. If you are the company executives, I would recommend you inspect how management spending on each and every check that comes out. Again, this is still something I learned from this book: if you want to find out where is the problem, you have to do a review and audit, you have to spend time working on the business not in the business. There are a lot of fluffy books talk about leaderships and visions, they were nice to read but fail to make an impact to real business operations. This book stands out, it was packed with information, its specific, the ideas are actionable, unlike some other books only tells you half of the story and hope to upsale you to get another half, this book does the lead generation too, but it gives you the whole picture, you can use the ideas in this book and making impact right away! This book has no BS, it has almost everything you need to know to make your business the top 1%.

Great Perspective, Different Insights
This is a great book on how to sell and develop some good manager skills specifically and other than that it's a good book in general. Holmes taught me a simple and very effective way of managing my time in the first chapter. For that reason alone I would recommend the book (or at least reading the first chapter at the library). Next he discussed better ways to run meetings and get the most productivity out of a team. Additionally, one of his most important insights is that all the great ideas in the world won't help anyone do anything if you don't have the "pig headed discipline" to implement the idea and follow up to make sure everyone is acting on it. I have found this to be the case in my own life many times over when I learn a new time management technique but don't stick with it and ultimately revert back to my old poor time management habits. The bulk of the book is about how to sell and describes in detail how Holmes became great at selling. If I were to describe the idea in a nutshell it would be that successful sales people have a system and use it consistently. Additionally successful sales managers study what their most successful sales staff are doing different from everyone else and then takes steps to spread their techniques across the organization. The sales professional will find it useful (or perhaps a useful review, if the information is not new) and the novice will find it educational. If you are like me and subscribe to the idea that you are always selling be it your ideas at a meeting, trying to get a job, or as a member of a sales staff, you can find benefit in learning something from someone who is good at it.

Solid Practical Advice on Creating A Sales System.
In reading many of the negative reviews for this book, I am struck by the focus either on the closing approach (aggressive) or the "it's all just common sense". I completely disagree. The book itself is a valuable resource, particularly for the non-sales executive looking to establish, manage or improve a sales process. By focusing on the 12 key strategies here, perhaps most importantly hiring the right sales people and providing the right follow up and follow through, an organization will be dramatically improved. The adage that holmes notes - do 12 things 4000 times well rather than 4000 things 12 times, is a truism in business - and the 12 things he recommends are basic and fundamental and often ignored or neglected for the next exciting thing. The book gives practical and actionable steps to develop a sales machine in your organization. Note - I did not say easy - but practical and actionable. Focus on fundamentals, hone them, improve, rinse and repeat. A good book and a good read.

Sadly Chet Holmes died in August 2012 but in this book, he has left behind a fine legacy for people to understand how he helped so many big and small businesses around the world. The author believes people over-complicate what is needed for business success. Instead you just need to focus on 12 key strategies and implement them with pigheaded discipline and determination. The Key Business Growth Strategies Covered In The Book 1 - Really effective time management 2 - Instituting higher standards and regular training 3 - Effective meetings 4 - Becoming a brilliant strategist by taking a strategic approach by educating your prospective customers so that you set the buying criteria. Why play the game to someone else's rules if you can change the rule book by having a better understanding of the opportunities and threats that your customers face. I like the idea of the stadium pitch. What would you say if you had the initial attention of all the possible buyers of your product or service but they could walk away at any time? It's a powerful question on its own but Chet also introduces us to a pyramid of potential customers - some are actively looking to buy, some are thinking about buying but not doing anything about it yet, some are not thinking about it, some don't think they are interested and the last category know in their own minds that they are not interested. It could mean 90% of the audience are ready to walk out as soon as you say "Hi my name is Joe and I sell...". Instead he explains an approach to keep those who didn't know they were interested to stay and listen. 5 - Hiring superstars - There is some fantastic advice on hiring superstar sales people in this chapter that will knock your socks off. 6 - Targeting your best buyers - More excellent advice about focusing your marketing on the target customers that you believe really matter with tips on how to do it. 7 - The seven musts of marketing - You can't rely on just using one marketing method to attract new customers. 8 - Better presentation skills - Some good advice in this section including some common mistakes that presenters make. If you are a sales professional, you may have heard it before and I have a problem with "death by powerpoint." 9 - Winning the best buyers - Picking up on the theme of chapter 6 on the importance of targeting your best buyers, the book reveals practical advice on how to make it happen including tips on getting past the gatekeepers. 10 - Sales skills - For Chet Holmes, selling is a seven stage process which is good sensible advice but nothing startling. 11 - Follow-up and client bonding - The first stops what is known as buyer's remorse and leads to order cancellation. What seems like a good idea with the sales person, no longer seems a good idea when you are on your own. The second correctly identifies that as a general rule, you don't make the bulk of your money on the first transaction but on the subsequent business which relies on developing the relationship. 12 - Goals and measures - Standard material done well. You will find it an easy to read, powerful and inspiring book that puts the emphasis on continued, focused action. This is one of my top 12 business books I recommend to business owners. About my book reviews - I aim to be a tough reviewer because the main cost of a book is not the money to buy it but the time needed to read it and absorb the key messages. 5 stars means that I think that overall it has some vital messages in it.
