OPMODVortex Diamondback HD 10x42mm Roof Prism Binoculars, ArmorTek, Wolf Gray, DB-215-OP

Vortex is currently putting out some great optics for a decent price. Bought these for my nephew who lives on a lake where there is always something to look at. These are good everyday optics for general purpose and is just what I wanted to replace an old pair of subpar bino’s. Vortex has the contract to produce optics for the U.S. mi.itary so they are at the top of their game. Plus the lifetime warranty is worth buying Vortex. I own a pair of HD Fury’s, a Vortex riflescope as does my son and my other hunting partner.

A lot of binoculars are too wide for my eyes even completely collapsed. These collapse far enough and fit my face great. I love the rubbery grip and the way they feel in my hands and the glass is really good. I’m not an expert, but these are nicer than any that I’ve had before. I also love the eyepieces because you can click them out one or two positions which work better without eyeglasses when they’re out and better all the way in when you’re not using eyeglasses.

I know there are tons of reviews out there already on the Diamondback HDs (10x42) but just adding my quick observations. First impressions... the bino feels good in hand and smaller than expected, in a good way. The amor is grippy and tough. Controls are excellent and no slop in the focus adjust wheel. It generally feels like a first rate product with no real flaws to speak.Optically, sharpness in the center is excellent and gradually less so as you move towards the outer frame. Excellent clarity and bright image. FOV is sufficient for a 10x in this class. A little bit of chromatic aberration appears sometimes in super bright conditions but mostly goes unnoticed unless you are super sensitive to it. For the price... hard to expect better optical performance. A joy to view with. The Diamondback HDs is an excellent value and easy to recommend to my friends. I also like the Celestron Trailseekers and Athlon Midas G2 UHDs.

Great resolution from 10x42 HD. Great price. Vortex people were willing to mail parts to me instead of sending the binocs to Wisconsin for service. I had dropped them from about 3 feet with the eye cups extended and ended up bending an eye relief ring. Easily fixed at home. Tech was very helpful over the phone when ordering parts. They prefer that you mail the unit to them for repair though.

I bought a pair of these a few years ago for hunting. The optics are clear and the binos are durable. My wife always takes them in the off season for bird watching around our property, so I bought her this pair for her birthday. She loves them.

My daughter said this was what her professor used for the college class she was taking this semester. Thanks to Black Friday, I also got them for a good price. She was thrilled!
