One month update: I've been using these off and on for a month, and I'm in a place right now where I've dialed them in and have been using the regularly as of late. I think they're great and I've not really had any connectivity or issues with one bud not being on and the other on since I had that issue at the beginning. I still don't love the sounds the app comes with by default. I was using Stormfall for a bit but I just prefer the custom brown noise I made in the app which is less distracting. In terms of ear comfort I've been using the memory foam inserts and like those a lot, but I'm not sure how often they need to be replaced and how much those cost. I find if I insert the buds too well I end up just hearing the pulse in my head which is an issue I've always had with ear plugs while sleeping, but just backing it out slightly is enough to fix that. The ear buds have remained very comfortable for side sleeping. A few things to keep in mind: The sleep report feature is fun but basically junk. Don't buy this as any kind of intelligent sleep tracker. Also, for some reason there's an AI chat bot in the app? Hilariously senseless. Otherwise, very happy with the purchase still! Initial review: It's only been a few nights with these but I'm very happy so far. Before this I would wear wired earbuds with my iPhone playing my preferred type of white noise, or bose QC35 ii for really challenging sleep environments. I also occasionally would try airpod pros but only got 4 hours of battery on those before it would wake me up with the world's most annoying low power chime. All of these options were very unpleasant to wear but I felt I had no choice as I am an extremely light sleeper and find any variation in sounds to be extremely challenging for sleep. My first few nights with these have been quite pleasant. They block a lot of sound right out of the gate as they function as a sort of ear plug, but far more comfortable than normal ear plugs which I never wanted to wear for sleep. The noise cancelling seems to be pretty effective, and I couldn't hear one of our dogs whining to come into our bed last night (he's a good boy though). Given their low profile they are quite comfortable to wear while side sleeping. I also love just being able to get up to go to the bathroom and keep them in and not think about it. To me, the biggest question will be battery life and degradation over time. So far, zero issues with these things lasting through the night on a mix of bluetooth and local modes with the default ANC off after it detects sleep (no clue how it does that but I didn't notice it turning off and it didn't impact my sleep when it did). It's not all roses. Last night only one earbud would turn on so I had to put them both back into the case and try again, then it worked fine (reminded me of the airpod pros, so I'm used to that). The default sounds in the app I find very puzzling. I am the kind of person that cannot sleep with inconsistent sounds like rain, forest sounds, waves, etc. yet those are all the defaults in the app which makes no sense to me. I need consistent brown noise or airplane engine noise. Hearing the gentle sounds of a bird calling in the distance or random thunder is guaranteed to keep me from falling asleep. The White Noise app I've used for years on the iPhone has an Airplane cabin sound that I find to be my preferred sound. Unfortunately, the airplane sound in the Soundcore app has way too much bass, which also makes no sense to me. Bass is one of the WORST offenders for sleep quality in my experience. Thankfully, I was able to design my own white noise in the app using the brown noise setting so I've been using that, but it really should have been a default! I am going to update this review over the coming year as I use these but, so far, I've been very happy with them and I am absolutely the target customer for these as I was already using far less comfortable and frustrating options before.

The A30 SPECIAL earbuds (the purple and white ones only) are my holy grail for masking chainsaw snoring as a side sleeper. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE LISTING TO MAKE SURE YOU GET THE PRODUCT YOU WANT. I highly recommend the A30 Special over the A30 original--I have now tried both since I ordered the original accidentally the first time around. Anker support was phenomenal in helping me exchange to get the ones I wanted. I sleep (or try to) next to a very loud snorer. I had tried four other types of sleep headphones, but they were uncomfortable and I could still hear the snoring. I used to have a pair of the Bose sleephones, but they eventually kicked the bucket and couldn't be replaced. The Anker A30 Special earbuds are SO comfortable as a side sleeper. Within the box, there are several size options for both the tips and the wings so that you can customize a perfect fit. I don't even notice them anymore, and they stay in my ears all night. The ANC on the A30 Special is very good. Before I got the Special, I was sleeping with the A30 regular (ANC on) + over-ear headphones with ANC on, which was the only thing that let me sleep. The A30 special pretty much gets to that level of noise cancelling on its own. The snore masking audio options are really nice. I love the completely customizable white noise options too. I do not love the included meditations and sleep stories, BUT! You do not need to only use the in-app noises to get the main benefit of these headphones! The headphones detect when you fall asleep and then switch to local mode with ANC off to save battery. This works really well for me. I set up my sleep preferences for the night in the app, start my sleep, then go to Spotify to listen to my own sleep podcasts and music with ANC on. At some point after I'm already asleep, the headphones switch to be in local mode w/snore-masking audio and ANC off to save battery. In the several weeks that I have been using the A30 Special, the timing on that has worked every night. I have never once been woken up by snoring, and I've never had it switch to local mode too early. Sometimes I wake up for other reasons throughout the night, and often I can fall back asleep even without ANC on. But if I need it on again, it's easy enough to restart my sleep in the app to get that benefit again. The battery life on the A30 special is great. They have lasted through the night every night so far, with using the settings that turn the ANC off after I'm asleep. The plain A30 did not last through the night on weekends when I slept more than 7 hours. Beyond their functional abilities, they even FEEL luxurious--I love the glide of the case and the snap of the earbuds as I put them back. Even better than the Bose Sleephones were. Finally, the support team at Anker is so helpful and resolved my issue right away. They very generously let me keep the A30 originals while the A30 specials shipped to me, so that I could still sleep in the meantime. I have full confidence that they stand behind their product and will help if I encounter any other issues. Overall, I can't recommend the A30 SPECIAL earbuds enough. They are 100% worth the price, and have given me my sleep back. Also, shoutout to the Get Sleepy podcast for being the best sleep stories out there!

The good news: I am sleeping in the same bed with my snoring husband again for the first time in a year. Which was the goal. So I would indeed by these again. What's frustrating is, like others have mentioned, that for the price you expect better and clearer app functionality. I have not been able to get the buds to function exactly as I want (fall asleep in bluetooth mode listening to a sleep meditation, switch to snore-blocking local sounds once I fall asleep to ensure battery lasts the night), and I am unwilling to experiment and try again, because as someone who normally sleeps with ear plugs, the nights where I wound up with no sound in my ear buds, no ANC, and honestly what sounded to me like 'transparency mode' letting sounds in more loudly were some of the worst nights sleep I've had in a while, much worse than my nights with normal earplugs. What's great is my first night sharing a bed with the snorer, the earbuds did recommend the best snore-masking nature white noise to cover my husbands snores better than what I'd picked, and their analysis was correct. I've now slept 3 nights in a row with ANC on and their suggested snore-masking white noise, on local mode. The earbuds last through the night, and I'm sleeping through the night. Feels like a small miracle. I love Soundcore. I've switched to their other headphone products to replace Bose and Jabra products, and for all of their other headphones they have FAR better functionality and reliable connectivity compared to those more expensive brands. When I friend shared that she's using Ozmo earbuds for sleep, I searched to see if there was a more affordable version. It was a no brainer to me to try the Soundcore ones since their other headphones have all been amazing in their reliability and app switching and connectivity. I figured I would not have the issues everyone else did with the app. Unfortunately, I did. But. They are connecting, they're staying connecting, and they're doing their job. But as the most I've spent on a Soundcore product, dissappointed they haven't figured out the app functionality better. Hopefully future updates will improve. In the meantime, I'm happy to have purchased them even if they don't get the fix, and to be back in my own bed again, finally. But can't give them 5 stars till the app is worked out.

Full disclosure - I have smaller ears and canals, and I am a side sleeper and I have been using these for the last 7 days. I am moving to a new town and decided to rent an apartment for a year to help me decide where to buy a house. Well, the apartment walls and floors are not well insulated. I hear footsteps, creaking floors, snoring through the wall, and sometimes can hear the tv shows they watch. Needless to say, I was having serious trouble sleeping. I could fall asleep pretty well (go to bed early), but I would be awakened at some point, or several points, in the night by all these noises, banging, walking, creaking, and snoring and was not able to get back to sleep. I needed something to help. I tried Mack's foam ear plugs. They work pretty good for noise reduction, but my ears would hurt and throb making my sleep difficult in that way. I even had the small ears size. They were comfortable to side sleep with. I bought some fake Loop alternatives as just ear plugs. They were comfortable, did not throb like the Mack's in my ears, but did not block out enough sound. When I tried a bigger ear plug piece, I found the throbbing ear syndrome again. These were comfortable to side sleep with though. I then bought a cheap knock off brand of "sleep buds". They were the most comfortable thus far. They would bluetooth to my phone so I could play either music or some white noise from my phone. They claimed to have ANC. They were helpful to block out some sound because of the ear fit, and because they could bluetooth to my phone for music or white noise. However, with the ANC on or off, I did not detect any difference in sound reduction. These were kidney bean shaped sleep buds and did not stick out much from my ear. The ear plug piece was comfortable, but the harder plastic part would start to be annoying after a few hours when on my side. They were ok. Sound quality was decent. Maybe a C+ for an overall grade for these. However, they didn't stop all the sounds and I still woke up occasionally. I hesitantly tried the A30's. This is no small investment! With the rubbery ear plug piece and ear fin, these buds were comfortable. While on my side, they have been the most comfortable thus far. I can sleep well with them in actually. I still have a little bit of pressure while on my side, but some nifty pillow management helped relieve the pressure. I am using the attachments they came with out of the box. I really like the white noise sounds. I have Still Lake as my favorite. It is a sutble sound that helps my brain drift off. With the fit of the A30 alone, I can block out most of the noise for the night with these standard size pieces without using ANC. Last night, I had both my wife snoring and banging on the ceiling above. (To be honest, my wife's snoring is not super loud but enough to wake me up). Then I realized I didn't have the ANC on. Well, i turned the ANC on and WOW what a difference. It was almost like I had over the ear headphones with ANC on. All that noise disappeared. I was very impressed, at least I recall being impressed. I was asleep!! The sound quality is perfect for night time sleeping. In reading other reviews, I agree that these are not your everyday all day ear buds, they are really designed for sleeping only. The ANC works really well and I noted quite a difference between on and off. Last night I set them to use ANC until I was alseep and then go to local mode. After 8 hours, I still had 30% of the battery left in each ear bud. So far, the battery life has been great. I have yet to spend a whole night with bluetooth and ANC on, however. I haven't needed to. I know at $200 it seems like a lot to spend for ear buds that you only use for sleep and that aren't designed for super high quality audio sounds. However, this week has been the best sleep week I've had in two months since those neighbors upstairs moved in. You do need several nights to get used to the fit and feel. Not because they are uncomfortable, but because when something new is in your ear and you aren't used to it, it can feel funny and weird which may keep you awake instead of helping you sleep. But, give it a few nights, and if you are like me, they get more comfortable the more you wear them. I can sleep on my side with these but I need a soft pillow. A really firm pillow would hurt my ears after a few hours, as it would everyone else with anything in their ear. Everyone is a different size and shape, but I have found these A30's to be comfortable, and of high quality. The app is full of options to help customize the experience, and they do what they claim they will do. After this week, my wife (who is very thrifty) is asking if she can try these out and maybe get a pair because she notices such a difference in my morning wakefulness. Hope this helps those of you out there like me needed something to help get your sleep back. I would definitely buy again and am grateful for this product.

I absolutely love these ear buds. I have a six month old baby and a snoring husband and these have saved my life by allowing me to sleep through all the extra noises. I typically can only wear ear buds for short periods because they make my ear canals hurt. These can after several hours, but they’re mostly comfortable. I find they help me go to sleep and I can take them out in the night if needed. I listen to music with them sometimes, and the sound quality is good. I’ve taken a couple phone calls and was not impressed. Charging is good, love the color. Only major complaint is sometimes they just don’t want to connect and I’ve had to use the reset button a couple times. Irritating but not a deal breaker. Wish there was a watch app so I didn’t have to open my phone at night.

Well! Had these for (at time of writing) about three months now. I have two pairs of Soundcore earbuds, this A20i and the A40's. The A40's have been flawless. These? Not as much. This could be a result of me using them for sleeping (I'm not doing that with the A40, and I'm absolutely not buying the sleep pair of earbuds, both are too pricey for me to do that!), but I do have a couple downsides with the A20. The first issue, the right earbud has ended up with a bit lower volume than the left after a few weeks of use, and I can't seem to figure out why. There doesn't seem to be any blockage in the mesh itself, from what I can see. Otherwise it's marginal, I notice it, but it's not the end of the world. The second issue, which seems to be a trend with these case designs for wireless earbuds in general, is the charging. It doesn't always engage, or the earbuds are never fully seated to the charger correctly, so they'll end up as being active, despite being in the case. Especially with the left earbud from my instance. I even drop it in to let the magnets do the job, and sometimes that may not work on the first try. Otherwise, sound quality is what you'd expect $20-$30 earbuds to sound like. If you're like me and you have the A40's, you can definitely tell that the A20s are lower quality when you swap back-to-back. But again, that's just how low-cost earbuds are in general. But they're not awful quality! Very passable for the price. I've gone the whole night with the earbuds playing from a full charge and still have about 60% left in the morning - after roughly 7-8 hours. Although some of it could be off/on playback and just standby from nothing playing. Otherwise, since these are under warranty, I'll likely look to get a new set of these earbuds (hi Anker Customer Service, if you're reading this!) Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the product, no disrespect meant, definitely no anger, I just use this differently than what might be expected of typical use. So all in all, your milage may vary depending on how you use the buds.

I wanted to like the Soundcore Sleep A30 because the noise cancellation is genuinely excellent. Once I found the right ear-tip size, the ANC became even better and did a great job reducing fan noise and other sounds around me. The Soundcore app is also useful, with sleep tracking, alarms, sleep sounds, and other sleep-focused features. Unfortunately, the biggest problem is that the earbuds simply do not stay in my ears while I sleep. I tried every included ear-wing size, multiple ear-tip sizes, different positioning, and several nights of testing. They can feel completely secure while I’m awake, even when I roll around or move my head against the pillow, but after several hours of actual sleep they still work themselves loose and fall out. This is especially frustrating if you move around a lot in your sleep because you wake up having to carefully locate the earbuds so you don’t accidentally roll over or step on them. I also had a charging issue with the left earbud. It stayed at a very low battery percentage while the right earbud and case were fully charged. I eventually discovered that one of the ear wings was interfering with the charging connection, even though the earbud looked like it was seated correctly. The included charging cable is another weak point. It’s extremely short, and the USB-C connection doesn’t feel very secure. My Chromebook USB-C charger actually fits the case more reliably than the cable Soundcore included. There are definitely things I like about the A30. The ANC is impressive, the app has a lot of useful features, and they’re comfortable when they stay positioned correctly. But for something specifically designed to be worn while sleeping, reliable overnight retention is extremely important, and that’s where these failed for me. They may work perfectly for someone who doesn’t move much during sleep or whose ears match the shape of the earbuds better, but they weren’t reliable enough for me.

So far, I have to say that I am very happy with the Soundcore Sleep A30 Special by Anker. Having gone through sleep masks and various headset types, my husband and I decided to give these a try when my current one wasn't lasting the whole night and his old Jabra headset was dying. With Jabra no longer making headsets, we decided to start researching. After spending some time on Reddit, we decided to try the Soundcore Sleep A30 Special by Anker. Honestly, we are so glad we did! This headset is truly amazing. It has the best noise-canceling system I have seen to date. While testing, it blocked out my husband talking, his music, and our dogs walking around on our hardwood floors. I was honestly quite stunned. I then put on my storm playlist on Spotify, which I normally listen to for sleep, and the thunder sounded absolutely incredible. The sound quality is superb. I also loved that it blocked out noise (especially my husband's snoring). Its app also has some built-in sounds and meditation music, which I enjoy (I will get back to the app to the end - the reason this doesn't have five stars). While it worked perfectly for sleep, I didn't expect this headset to be great as an all-purpose headset too. It has fantastic sound quality for listening to music, both streaming and what I keep on my phone. I was also very impressed with the quality of voice calls (just know you have to turn on call functionality, since it is off by default). In other words, it is a nice, portable headset with lots of versatility, making it more than just a sound device for sleep. Fit was also superb, being the first headset I have found that actually has xxs wings and nubs for very small ears. Most headsets fall out of my ears, so I was very happy to see this. I also didn't really fill them in my ears, which was another plus. Now, for the reason this doesn't have five stars - the app itself is extremely obnoxious, forcing you to make an account. You cannot perform firmware updates without creating an account, nor can you change many of your device's settings. It is likely you only have partial functionality, which was extremely annoying. The app itself is also a bit on the mediocre side, and you cannot use most of its functions unless you are using the earbuds or have the case open. It was also a bit of an exercise getting it to connect for the first time, but once we figured it out, it wasn't a huge deal (connectivity was pretty average). While this isn't a dealbreaker, it is something you need to know. Overall, though, I still do love these headsets and am glad we purchased them. I don't consider it a bad price, especially since I paid a similar price for my old headset back in 2020.

I’ve been using it for a month now, and it’s the best purchase I’ve ever made! I’ve been sleeping so much better, the noise cancellation is absolutely amazing, it’s comfortable to sleep with, the app is super easy and super cool. I also use as normal earbuds to listen to music and specially for audiobooks, when I don’t want to be distracted by the outside noise. Absolutely amazing product!

Tolle Kopfhörer für seitenschläfer! Ich bin begeistert. Sie passen sehr gut. Da ich kleine Ohren habe passen mir viele Kopfhörer nicht. Die Sleep A30 sind aber perfekt. Mit den vielen extra Aufsätzen kann man sie passgenau an die eigenen Ohren personalisieren. An muss darauf achten dass die gut abdichten und ich habe sie bisher noch nicht einmal verloren beim Schlafen. Sie halten wirklich gut. Außerdem sind sie auch beim seitlichen schlafen auf einem relativ "harten" Nackenkissen kaum zu spüren. Nach 2-3 Nächten hatte ich mich dran gewöhnt und sie stören überhaupt nicht. Zur Funktion: Man kann die Kopfhörer im Bluetooth Modus betreiben und dabei eigene Musik z.b. über Amazon music abspielen oder aber auch Schlafgeschichten über die soundcore App, sowie auch Gehirnwellen Audios oder Meditation. Alle diese Audios können mit ANC gespielt werden, das ANC der sleep A30 unterdrückt dabei tiefe Geräusche wie Schnarchen. Ein Fernseher mit höheren Geräuschen wird dabei aber noch gedämpft durchgelassen. Das ANC der Sleep A30 ist speziell auf das Schnarchen abgestimmt. Da funktioniert es wirklich total gut! Ich bin begeistert. Weiter kann man bei den Kopfhörern ein lokales Audio auf die Buds runter laden. Dieses Audio kann ein Weißes rauschen sein (welches man auch selbst konfigurieren kann) oder aber auch ein "schnarchmaskierendes" audio. Dieses maskierende audio kann in Verbindung mit der "dynamischen schnarchmaskierung" verwendet werden. Soll heißen: die Kopfhörer können das Schnarchen mit dem audio so übertönen dass das Schnarchen nicht mehr wahrgenommen wird. Und es funktioniert wirklich! Ich bin begeistert! Wichtig ist: bei der Schnarchmaskierung müssen die Kopfhörer im lokalen Modus sein und das ANC muss ausgestellt sein. Dann säuselt das Lokale Audio vor sich hin und wieder lauter und leiser sobald das Case der Kopfhörer ein Schnarchen wahrnimmt. Mich hat anfangs das einstellen dieser Funktionen etwas überfordert. Nach Recherche im Internet und Kontakt Aufnahme zum Support von Soundcore kann ich folgende Tipps abgeben: Wenn man die Kopfhörer im Bluetooth Modus mit einer Schlafgeschichte zum einschlafen betreibt, sollte man die Einstellungen " automatisch wechseln nach dem Einschlafen - lokalen Modus an, ANC aus" wählen, dann ist die schnarchmaskierung aktiv beim Schlafen. Die Kopfhörer erkennen das Einschlafen sehr genau. Man kann ebenfalls einen Wecker stellen der zuverlässig weckt. Bin begeistert. Der schlafbericht wird ebenfalls erstellt, egal ab man die Funktion "Schlaf beginnen" nützt oder nicht. Die Kopfhörer machen vieles automatisch. Was bei mir nun leider nicht so gut funktioniert hat, war der Wechsel in den lokalen Modus ohne ANC über die "Schlaf beginnen" Funktion. Da habe ich es leider beobachtet, dass ich das ANC selbst ausschalten musste und der lokale Modus war zwar laut App aktiv aber es spielete kein audio. Der Support konnte mir dabei nicht wirklich helfen. Ebenfalls hat der schlafbericht (ob über "Schlaf beginnen " oder automatisch) keine Daten zum schnarchen aufgezeichnet. Die schnarchmaskierung hat funktioniert aber es wurde nicht getrackt . Der Support meinte dazu dass die Kopfhörer einen defekt hätten und haben sie ausgetauscht, jedoch haben die Ersatz Kopfhörer ebenfalls keine Schnarchdaten erfasst. Ich denke dass da ein Problemchen mit der App oder der Firmware besteht, welches hoffentlich behoben werden kann. Na ja Da ich die Kopfhörer noch nicht all zu lange habe bin ich immer noch am ausprobieren. Übrigens, zum Akku Verbrauch: ich kann die Kopfhörer 3 Nächte ohne Probleme nutzen. Am Abend mit 100% ins Ohr, am Morgen haben sie noch zwischen 40% und 10%. Das Case ladet die Bus dann wieder auf 100%. Das Case hält bei mir bis zu 3 Tage bevor ich auch dieses dann laden muss. Somit also bei mir kein Akku Problem. Aber ein positives erster Fazit zeigt sich schon jetzt: ich kann neben einem lauten Schnarcher jetzt deutlich besser schlafen. Der Kauf hat sich also schon jetzt total gelohnt!

Absolute game changer for me. I am someone who struggles sleeping due to noise disturbances in my neighbourhood, so always wear earplugs or headphones to sleep. These have changed my life - the comfort level is faultless — I am a side sleeper too. They block plenty of noise even without noise cancelling; with noise cancelling on you are in your own silent universe, or nature, if you’d prefer the nature sounds. Don’t waste your time comparing these to regular headphones: it’s like comparing apples on oranges. These are designed for sleep, not audio quality or phone calls, and they deliver on their promise as incredible sleep headphones. The sound quality is totally passable for music, nature sounds and podcasts, but of course they’re not audiophile grade. I am a music professional so will always keep other headphones for if I just want to listen to music, but I will never use another pair in bed again other than my soundcores. Hardware, design and comfort are all exceptional. Touch controls require a firm tap, which can be improved imo but are fine; the app is passable but could be better. I love the setting where, when my audio selection (eg a podcast) ends the Soundcores automatically switch to ‘local mode’ and plays my nature sound selection. This ensures a magical sleep, but also conserves battery. Love these and highly recommend for anyone hard of sleeping due to noise sensitivity like me. Btw, I’ve tried the regular pair too - the noise cancelling is totally worth the extra money. Can’t wait to try these on a plane today
