Mountain Bike Rides in and Around North and South Downs (Rough Ride Guide)

Being a MTB Beginner and living near the North Downs in Kent, and within not too distant reach of the South Downs, this publication is serving as a great motivator to get out there and explore.The routes written up provide good link-ups of as many off-road trails as possible within the relevant areas, and any road sections feature much less than expected on recalling the rides afterwards.The ring-binder approach means that I can take the page for each route out separately for the relevant ride, and the plastic coating makes them tough and resilient. The route detail is sufficient both on the map and also in the written detail.I did wonder why the binder itself had to be so big though, considering the number of routes provided - but I am sending off for the expansion pack soon so will see how much of the large free space will be used up.I'm also not quite sure the route gradings are quite right, and as I cycle more of the routes I'll form a better judgement of that.Overall a very useful and well put together publication.

Just starting out mountain biking and as I live just 5 mins away from South Downs thought this would be useful. It's a nice design but not quite what I was looking for.....What you get is a small ring binder holding 18 pull-out pages containing the cycle route on one side, directions & local information (car parks, pub, hotels) on the other.As someone just starting out I think I would have been better buying a map of the Downs. This seems more designed for those who want to drive around the South East looking for for new trails. Maybe in time that will be me and I'll find this more useful......

Not great - pretty limited in terms of the rides it provides. Also pretty thin on content. The rides are also pretty localised so I guess great if you are living in that area. Sadly I am not (i.e. do not buy if you live in Kent!)
