One of the best in the 2in2out realm
Great little interface. Very nice latency. Sound quality is very good also, preamps record nice with little noise. Gain could be a little higher but it's enough for me.Build quality is awesome! Very sturdy, looks solid with great materials. The knobs have a nice weight to them and the big volume knob is much appreciated. Knob response is a little different from what i was used to (not as "linear" as other units) but I ended up liking it, as it seems to have a wider range of "mid volume/gain", where fine adjustments can be made. All in all, comparing with other interfaces i've owned, quality is on the high side, and if Mackie were to launch a series of bigger interfaces i would definitely look into them.

Well made and super sound quality.
I am using this with Reaper on Windows 10 Home and it rocks. The driver seems solid and the hardware simply works. I would have preferred an all-metal interface (i.e. knobs and switches) but this is an entry-level price-point product. No complaints whatsoever but i am only using it casually. That said, i am a discerning user who is both an IT professional and a hobbyist guitarist since 1994, so i know what i like when it comes to both music and tech.

Well built, and works fine once you have downloaded drivers, which was easy.
I bought this unit as a replacement for my Alesis io2, and it does pretty much the same, and is equally well built at half the price of the Alesis. So 5 stars for VFM.On my PC it didn't work first time, and having gone into Windows Settings and run some checks I was advised to download some drivers, which happened automatically once I'd clicked Yes. I then had to re-boot, and after that it was all fine. I've used it with Soundtrap and Zoom so far on the PC. But not completely plug-and-play.On my MacBook, which is actually older than my PC it did work first time. On the Mac I've used it with Garageband, iTunes and Soundtrap.Sound quality is good, and it's simple to use. A couple of reviews have mentioned low output, and there is some truth in that. I have been using it with headphone volume up at 3 o'clock. And you do then need to set the MIx level at about 2 o'clock, so you get enough coming back to you from the computer. That done, it's fine. Finally, I've noticed that with both of my condenser mics there is a sudden jump in Gain at about 3 o'clock, where it quickly becomes distorted. This could be smother, but you're fine if you keep the gain just below this 'tipping point'. Obviously, all devices do this to some extent, but it's quite sudden and extreme on this one. Hence the 3 stars for volume control. But overall, a good item - perfectly usable at a good price. And it was available at short notice, which a lot of gear is not at the moment (Covid-19).

Well worth it!
Great little item. Massively improved the sound of my phantom powered Mic. Nice and compact design. Doesn't require external 240V power, as it's powered via a usb connection which is fab!

Get your analogue sounds into the computer.
2 microphone inputs which sound pretty good but with only gain and a LED to show the signal level.LED off no signal or small signal , green led signal is within the limits and apparently there is a red LED but I have never seen it as there was enough gain.Monitor output has a mixer for the sound coming into the ONYX or the sound coming from the PC which is very useful for checking a sound is good through the monitors before it even gets recorded and then recordings can take place only listening to the whole mix. If you need a little more or less performance you can quickly adjust the balance but you get a weird echo as the mixes are just happening at different times. This function may have been better as just a switch but I do use it.The headphone out has a volume control.I have not used the MIDI but there is in and out.Connects to a USB port and gets its power from the USB which is nice. All in all a reasonable quality product which sounds good using a stereo guitar/microphone into some software on the computer.

Simple USB Powered Interface that works up to a point...
Compact and easy to use.Worked straight out of the box, without reading instructions.Haven't used the phantom power, as I use an external valve pre-amp, but have no reason to think it wouldn't work well, as the interface inspires confidence with decent headroom much like my old Focusrite. This one has provision for MIDI whereas the Focusrite equivalent does not at this price.Update! I just got round to attempting to input a stereo keyboard and notice that it sums the stereo to a mono mix, although records in stereo on the DAW (Reaper)This would be just about tolerable for one keyboard, but if I want to record a guitar and vocal using both the inputs, but have to listen to them in mono, then hopeless. On this basis I would recommend to try a different unit unless monitoring in mono doesn't bother you

So far not great - be aware of USB ports on macs
Received the Onyx Artist today and was working on a project from home so plugged it immediately. Started great plugged straight to an Imac and set max levels of 75 SPL on the headphone gain dial. The imac model has 4 USB 3.0 ports. After a whole afternoon working plugged headphones back in and sound levels were really low.Stopped and played another file turning Imac levels all the way up to reach 75 SPL. No audio was being routed.Restarted - unplugged - plugged back in - nothing.Eventually got it working again by switching to a USB 2.0 expansion port.Instructions do not mention any incompatibility with USB 3.0 ports. Specially for macs instructions are very straight forward - just plug and play. Can't reach any support online - support page failed to send email - no dedicated UK support - I'll try to find an answer but I'll be keeping a close watch on this unit and am very prone to return it already---- --- ---P.S - returning it two days after delivery. despite having it plugged onto USB 2.0 and it worked for at least one day today it stopped working and failed again to route any sound through headphones amp despite the multiple attempts and restarts. very disappointed as this is happening in the middle of working in a project

Buen producto, buen precio.
Recomendable.

More than Bang For The Buck! Best Deal with Quality*
The media could not be loaded. Just got this as a portable, it’s brilliant.. I have used many popular brands but for the price it’s got a very solid build the knobs feel premium too and the pre amp is very decent too, audio quality is Solid too, even the latency is minimal, Just go for it …
