Although these plastic troughs have no drainage holes, it was fairly easy to make them. These are plain, terracotta-coloured, good quality rigid plastic patio planters, which are very inexpensive. The cost gave me pause, as you usually get what you pay for! They were a hasty purchase, because plants are arriving very soon, and I'm very satisfied with them. Added bonus: next day delivery, although much longer time estimate due to Easter Holiday!Similar troughs are full of primulas, winter pansies and geraniums and pinks,which have had enough space to thrive and do well. I'll be putting in geraniums, begonias and Busy Lizzies. Be sure to have enough compost ready to fill them as they hold a fair amount; it would be wise to purchase a small/medium size bag, to fill 1 or 2. They are easy to move, on the patio.

I purchased these because the reviews were good. However, I did wonder what I was buying for the price. I need not have worried as I have filled them with soil and placed them in the garden and they are brilliant. We drilled holes (no problem) and these troughs are strong and smart. Buy without hesitation. They even arrived within 24 hours!

These planters come in standard sizes and look just as good as expensive ones. It's a simple matter to drill a few drainage holes in the bottom, or if you haven't got a drill handy, just fill the bottom with small rocks or gravel. If weight is an issue, fill the bottom with chunks of polystyrene packaging instead. Problem solved!

Not as large as I wanted or as solid but they are useable and should do the job for now.
