Academy 1:72 - WWII US 6x6 Cargo Truck & Accessories

Another superb kit from Academy. Normally I build WWII German vehicles, but these fab fun kits are drawing me towards making more Allied/U.S. matériel. The kit allows you options: extended front fender with tow cable, or not; cabin hatch opening and associated MG mount, or not. And of course there are clear plastic 'glass' parts, decals, and even a pretty detailed engine.Nicely balanced between detail and ease of build, these are (as Hilary B discovered) not for beginners or very young kids. But with patience and the right tools/methods, they build into really satisfying models. Oh, and there's all the other stuff in this kit as well: barrels, jerry cans, and two types of MG, in both stowed and deployed configurations.
