Illusions: Ravens of Darkness Paperback – January 13, 2023

I was blown away by the detail in the story it’s a three-part series and I’m dying for the third I’m an adult and not into vampire type teenager things which this is not but it gave me a very similar feeling, but was so well written any adult can enjoy it. It’s a fun fantasy from Indiana and has the names changed but places you can imagine if you know the area the writer seems like she really has an interesting mind and I really love her take on what appears to be a form of addiction, and what it’s like, battling with it through the eyes of teenagers, but also has a grand amount of joy and pleasure! it really helped me enjoy some time away from the TV and going into an imaginary world where everything is whimsical. If you ever feel like you have a form of telepathy or special talents, this is the book for you to read it. Super interesting. I love the characters, and I really got into it as an adult! so I can’t imagine what the younger generations would think. They’d probably really love this. Can’t wait for the third book. This is the best story! It takes place on the shores of Lake Michigan not too far from where I'm from. These characters Evie, Talon, Alex, and Will are about to embark on a school year that changes everything for every one of them. Things are not what they seem. Secrets come out along with suppressed feelings and boy does it explode on the pages! These teens are complex and in for the ride of their lives and I'm happy to be on it with them!

This book starts off slow. There is so much flopping back and forth by the main character that you may get a bit of whiplash in the first 2/3! HOWEVER, the world is well built, the characters are fleshed out (albeit slowly) and the tension is high. Definitely looking forward to the next in the series.

The story is based around a teen who is the main character. She's going through changes she can't figure out then meets a hot new student who accidentally starts coming around. He teaches her about her gifts. Mysterious and interwoven with mythology. Great read. Can't wait to read next in series.

Evie has caught the eye of the hot guy who opened her eyes to her new normal. Evie definitely reminded me of Bella in some aspects and is very definitely a high school drama girl

There is conflict and fireworks as the naive main character learns she is an empath and out of control. A hot boyfriend, childhood friends, and other gifted acquaintances help tell the story of what happens when the Ravens of Darkness set their sights on her. She has a lot to learn! It's a crazy, good book!

Absolutely in love with this cast of characters, the way they're woven together, fascinating references to literature, mythology all enmeshed in current times. Can't wait to read book #2.

Definitely worth reading and maybe even rereading

I am not usually a fan of books that are written in the first person but in this case it really fits the style of the book and is enjoyable to read. The impressive descriptions in this novel allow you to feel as the character has felt, some of the more creepy scenes have sent shivers up my spine. The way the characters develop and change is wonderful and the plot twists are unexpected, making you desperate to find out what is going to happen next. The book does have a little bit of a slow start but once it gets going it is a rollercoaster of a ride that you don’t want to get off. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy / paranormal books as it was a good read and I found it difficult to put it down.
