So far so good. Good picture and sound on a 32" TV. The owner's manual is adequate. I may update this when I have more disks again and used it more. It came with firmware v 1.09 and I tried to update it but I got the same error with several different thumb drives. I contacted Panasonic support and the rep escalated it to their engineers. A couple of days later I got an email saying that this model, which has no network port and no WiFi, is newer, and its firmware, version 1.09, is the latest and final version for it.

This is a good quality product. Very good picture and sound. Easy to set up and use.

After three months it quit working. Pressing any button on the remote control either results in no action or “this operation is not available” message. Of course I changed the batteries in the remote. Twice. No improvement. I was also able to confirm that the remote definitely IS sending a signal (using a repeater device I have), so the problem seems to be in the blu-ray unit itself, or the remote is somehow sending garbled signals. Unfortunately there are no buttons on the player other than the power and open/close buttons. Without the remote there’s no way to play anything that doesn’t start automatically on its own. And that seems to be rare For everything else I can watch the main menu all I want. But the “play” button does nothing, and the navigation/enter buttons all result in an “operation not available” message. Useless. Money wasted. Cannot recommend.

I gave up on DVD players after several old Sonys bricked themselves. So that’s why I didn’t buy another Sony. This one is dead simple with a decent remote and has played everything I’ve put in it since getting sick of paying more for streaming services than I ever paid for physical media. I’m feeding this into a 10-year-old Sony receiver with Pioneer speakers and the picture & sound quality are both fantastic. Shoutout: I bought this based on it’s winning a Wirecutter shootout.

Llevo casi un año con él, es el primer blu-ray que he comprado y es bastante bueno. Sí eres de México y ya tienes peliculas DVD orginales puede que algunas no las reproduzca por ser region 4 (en México normalmente las peliculas dvd son region 4 y 1 o solo region 4). En cuanto a los blu-ray no deberia haber ningun inconveniente porque la region "A" es para todo el continente, he comprado muchas peliculas y series en bluray aqui mismo por amazon y todas han funcionado bien. Es bastante pequeño, así que puedes transportarlo facilmente y colocarlo casi en cualquier parte. A veces llega a hacer un poco de ruido cuando estas en el menú de la pelicula, aunque es minimo, una vez que le pones "play" ya no se oye nada. Otra ventaja es el puerto USB que incluye ya que puedes poner un disco externo para reproducir videos, cosa que las pantallas con usb luego no permiten o que solo funciona con memoria USB. Los menus de configuración son bastante intuitivos y como este modelo no incluye conexion a internet no tienes porque preocuparte por actualizar el firmware ni nada de eso. Lo recomiendo sin duda!

Estoy fascinado, este blu ray lee los DVD’s región 1! Me emociona mucho porque tengo una colección de grandes películas que nunca estuvieron en Región 4 y las tuve que comprar así. El aparato es pequeño pero sirve a la perfección.
