Kohler 1144925 Pressure Balance Repair Kit

I'm a builder and have no trouble tackling mechanical projects. That being said this PB valve change-out was a piece of cake. Anyone with basic mechanical ability could do it. Just follow the instructions.This corrected valve chatter that was causing the water to pulse at certain settings. I took the replaced valve apart and discovered that the internal diaphragm was torn. (My wife likes to turn the handle on like she is flooring a funny car off the line, resulting in explosive water pressure hitting the rubber diaphragm. Voila a tear.)Part fit perfectly. Valve working as it should.

This is a replacement for the old brass version. The old version never compensated the temperature well. It eventually started chattering during high flow usage and eventually did the same with one shower head. We no longer need to warn each other about toilet flushes. I replaced it easily myself but consider myself fairly handy. There is a warning in the instruction not to use petroleum jelly as a lubricant. Others have stated using it. I can only imagine that it degrades the seals. Stick with the silicon lubricant provided.

Not impressed with the Kohler products. This is the 3rd time I have had to replace the valve in the last 10 years.

Pros:It did solve my water temperature fluctuation issues I was having.Cons:I was expecting a quick remove and replace but it wasn't the case with this valve. This one is slightly different than the older one I had (~6 years old). As such, I had to sand down the two round plastic pieces at the bottom to ensure that the unit would fit. Not hard but time consuming as you need to sand, install, turn water on, check for leaks and repeat. It took about 5 times to ensure I didn't sand too far. A 15 minute job turned into a couple hours troubleshooting and then performing the above routine.Very small and hard to use lubricant capsule (size of a medication capsule)Not nearly enough silicon lubrication so have some extra handy (http://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Grease-2-0-oz-Jar/dp/B0000DCVZL/ref=pd_cp_hi_2)

You have to be very careful when installing this . There are two rubber washers that come with it. Ifyounick them even a little when you install your faucet will leak. .But the part did fix my problem of no hot water coming out.

Works perfectly

Perfect replacement and installed very easily. Part also seems to be improved upon from that which came with system originally. It had me thinking there might be a design flaw in the original Kohler setup given it only lasted 4 years.

If you got the kohler 306 valve this is the fix for leaking or dripping and loss of hot or cold. Bought this on many occasions for clients and they worked every time!!!
