If your computer is more than a couple of years old, SDHC camera memory cards might not be readable in the computer's SD card slot (if it even has one) so you need a little device like this. Connecting your camera to your computer by cable is dreadfully slow and clumsy and is for emergencies only. With this card reader, you just take the SDHC card out of the camera, pop it in the slot, and plug the reader into a USB port. Then it behaves like a removable disk, and shows up in Computer on a PC or Finder on a Mac. You can copy photos and movies into any folders on the computer, and also delete unwanted shots from the memory card.At a value price and with quick delivery included, this was an essential to go with my new camera.

I was only too happy to pay such a low price for a basic but essential piece of kit like this. Needless to say, I was disappointed but not overly surprised that it failed to perform from the word go.Cheap build quality, the SDHC card inserts at a peculiar angle and the unit feels fragile. I can live with that. But first time attempting to transfer approx 1GB of photos (11mp each) it crashed and was not recognised half way. This repeated itself on every attempt using various SDHC cards. Next, merely scrolling through (not previewing) the files on the SDHC card - another crash. Fortunately none of my files were lost or corrupted.So overall, one to avoid.

You do get what you pay for and I am afraid that this is a very good example of that! It is just not up to the job. I put my SD card in and it could only read the first few files saying that the other files were non readable. I then uploaded the files through the camera and there was no problem, they all uploaded fine.I would definitely not recommend this item, pay a little more and get a good card reader.

I did not even know that it existed until my daughter told me about it. What a fantastic invention! I always used to have problems watching my photographs from my camera. One day the card would fit in the printer, another time in the computer, most times, nowhere and I had to ask someone for help. Now, no problems at all. Great, great, great!

Recognised for a short time when first tried, but then not seen by Windows 8 64 bit; this was before I had tried to transfer any files. Would then sometimes be recognised when freshly attached to PC, but not subsequently unless computer was rebooted. Returned at once.

I have used micro SD cards for phone storage but usually under 32GB. I bought a 64GB card and could not work out why it was only showing up as 32GB on windows.. Realised it was the SDxc, got this reader and as if my magic my laptop now recognised all 64GB! Perfect and a real lifesaver. Couldn't have asked for better service. Thanks!
