I'm getting tired of these reviews, I almost didn't buy it.
I'm getting tired of these reviews, I almost didn't buy this because of them. I've had a pool for 28 years and used barracudas for the first 10 went through three of them they were horrible. Then I came across the kreepy krawler and it was night and day and the ease of use, longevity, generally very happy with it. Well after 10 years it was time to replace it and when I reviewed this upgraded version and read the reviews I was worried. But since I've received it this thing works incredibly well just as good if not better than the first one. Setting it up was a breeze and haven't had to make any adjustments since I put it in. The pool is so clean I could see a dime on the bottom of it. It has not been stuck in the ladder yet the other kreepy krawler wood. So I'm very happy with the purchase we'll see how it holds up Longevity if it's built as well, it's hard to say. Be mindful of the reviews you're seeing maybe some are competitors or people I'm sorry to say are just ignorant. For example is a photo of kreepy krawler with the bottom pad completely destroyed. If that reviewer paid attention he's using a kreepy krawler design for vinyl and plastic and not for concrete.I would recommend purchasing this over other brands. Keep in mind your pool obstacles and things like that that will affect it. Mine is a vinyl and it works incredibly well.

Works very well
I ordered this with a recommendation from a friend. I had another keeper krawler that didn’t do a great job. So far it has been amazing ! It definitely is worth the money compared to a cheaper version I purchased a couple months ago. I went on YouTube to learn how to install it in my pool

Great cleaner at a good price!
This year was my first year as a pool owner (in ground), and I got tons of advice from friends and neighbors who have had pools for many years, some for decades. The suction cleaner that came with my pool was horrible, and needed to be replaced. What i found was most of the long time pool owners who had tried several cleaners recommended the Kreepy Krauly "classic," with the pleated seal.If you follow the instructuons, and take the time to make the necessary adjustments this will work well. Can you slap it together, drop it in the pool, and never touch it? Not right away, but if you take just a little time initially to make a few adjustments the first couple of days, it will then work flawlessly.Mine got stuck on a corner, and the stairs, at first, but I made some adjustments and tried again. After making those minor adjustments (as the instructions explain) it's been running trouble free for many months.Well worth the price, and glad I took the numerous recommendations I received. Also, avoid the cheap "knockoffs," a friend tried one of the "knockoff" brands, and it didn't work, so he ended up buying the real Pentair, and is now very happy with the real one.

Slower movement than Classic -- See update below original review!
This is the 3rd Kreepy Krauly I've had for my pool, 2nd one I've actually bought. When we moved in over 20 years ago, this was the cleaner the previous owner had for the pool. We had never had a pool before, so we just trusted that this was the right equipment to have. And it worked great. So much so that when the foot pad wore out and the unit needed replacing, I bought one just like it... the old "Classic" Kreepy Krauly. Again it worked great for many years. But stupid me... I didn't think to get the foot pad protector until almost too late. The foot pad had worn down quite a bit and almost wouldn't keep a protector on. But it lasted many years. This spring it was pretty much falling apart (the foot pad area), so decided to buy this newer version instead of looking for an older Classic. It's kind of a toss-up in terms of how it works, compared to the old one. The design is sleek and updated, it was fairly easy to put together, the company I bought it from had a good price and fast delivery. BUT, it just doesn't seem to move as well as the older version. It is slower, takes longer to cover the pool--which means you have to run the pump longer, use more electricity. Plus it continually gets stuck on the pool drain cover, which sticks up maybe an inch or so from flat bottom of pool. The old one almost always powered over that. It does do a good job of cleaning the sides and bottom of the pool surface, just more slowly. If I were to have a do-over, I'd probably try to acquire a "Classic" version instead, but I guess I'll keep trying this. Have only had it a few months, so can't comment yet on durability of the unit or the hoses. I live in Texas, so it stays in the pool year 'round, which can cause the hoses to become brittle more quickly than if stored for the winter months.. So when buying/installing this new unit, it sure was nice to have some new, flexible hoses!Update, 20 Oct 2020:Stars remain the same (4 of 5). But issue has changed. Turns out I had gasket problems in a valve that was causing my new Kreepy to not move well. That issue has been resolved and the Kreepy moves well and cleans great! However, I'm not as enthusiastic about the quality of the parts. The bumper roller strap has been falling apart over several months. At first, some beads were coming out, maybe just 1 or 2 or 3 were on the pool bottom. However, lately, a piece of one of the straps themselves was lying on the pool bottom. Not happy about having to replace that part so soon. Also, the issue remains with the Kreepy getting stuck on the pool drain cover. But bottom line: I love my Kreepy and wouldn't buy anything else!Update, 27 July 2023:Have to say, I'm disappointed in the durability of this unit! Have only had it 4 years and it already seems to need replacing. Different pieces keep breaking. The pleated seal and foot pad protector (this is kind of a normal wear-and-tear issue); the bumper replacement: more than once it has just fallen apart; the baffle plate that keeps the flapper in place broke and the flapper quit working (unusual, never had this before). And now, both "wings" have fallen off--again, never have had this happen. For all the money I've been spending on the individual parts, I could just buy a whole new unit.Another issue that has arisen is that this cleaner seems to get some kind of "vapor lock" when the pump first starts up. It won't move at all unless I either unstick it from the pool bottom or detach 2 sections of the hose from each other under water then put them back together. THEN the Kreepy will start moving in a normal fashion. This happens probably 75% of the time. So, I don't feel like I can leave town for a few days and depend on the Kreepy doing its job. Not to mention all the wasted electricity and pump wear if I don't catch it.When purchasing the new baffle plate, I actually bought 2: a generic one and an OEM one. I put the generic one on; I think I'll try the OEM one and see if that helps with the non-startup issue. Will also have to buy new wings. I'll probably just have to spring for a new one sooner rather than later. Sigh!
