My dog has a corneal ulcer so she can’t be stracting her eye. All hard cones she trips over and can’t move around in my house/drink or eat so we have an inflatable cone for her. She cannot reach her eye with her paws but she can still rub her face on the couch so even tho I already have a collar that’s the same as this without the plastic, I ordered this to see if it could shield her eye from the couch and still let her be comfy. The edge of the plastic actually is at a height where it will go straight into your dogs eye if they lean into it. The plastic is also very floppy. I didn’t expect this collar to be perfect for what I need it for but I hoped the plastic would be taller and stronger. I will be returning it because it is not what I need personally although it is a very good collar with a great Velcro clip and it’s very secure, just not good if you are looking for something to protect the eyes. Otherwise for licking the body I would probably give it a 5 star.

I got this to use for my Poodles post surgery cone. It works pretty well but the inflatable portion is really hard to maintain with air. It's hard to plug the hole without air getting out. The shield part is good but it's a little flimsy. My dog was able to bend it and work around it. The plastic cones are pretty hard. This one is most of a soft plastic so it folds over real easy. Overall it did keep my dog from licking so I can complain. She had maybe one or two slip upa with this.

All opinions are my own and I pride myself on unbiased reviews that can help others decide whether something is worth it.So we originally HATED this because it would not stay on and just slips off. Turns out we were dumb and didn’t read the instructions properly lol. We were dumb and didn’t use it properly so you don’t have to! We really like it now because there’s actually no way for this thing to fall off your dog because you’re using it in conjunction with their collar!!! After inflating this thing you’ll see there are hoops built into the inside of the ring. You string your dog’s collar through that!!! Then you attach and snap your dog’s collar on as normal, adjust, and close up the strap outside for this cone. Much like how your dog’s collar should never slip off their neck, this donut/cone will never slip off their neck! It’s actually a really smart design! I was just too dumb for it originally lol. This is really great too because the plastic clear cone piece can be zippered on and off. So I originally got the Medium+ since my dog is between the Medium and Medium+. The Medium+ is not only bigger in the neck size area but the entire donut! My dog looked SO DUMB and ridiculous since it was so much bigger on her. This medium I ordered is MUCH better. It’s slightly smaller so it actually works well for her! Both the Medium and Medium+ widths are great though. She hasn’t been able to reach the incision on the underside of her chin even without the zipper cone piece! But even the Medium is a little big still, definitely better than the Medium+. Although even with the Medium she still has a little trouble entering and exiting her kennel since it’s so wide lol. My friend is the owner of her brother so I’m going to give him the Medium+. My dog’s brother is a bit bigger so I think it’ll work well for him while the Medium is just right for my dog. She’s really comfy in it lol. It’s just a pillow that stays with her at all times! Also since it’s inflatable it’s super lightweight which is great for my dog’s comfort as well! When I have a chance I’ll take some side by side photos of the Medium and Medium+ for comparison. Cannot right now since she needs to stay in this cone for a while.

This inflatable recovery donut for dogs is a much more comfortable option than the hard plastic collars often provided by veterinarians. I like the clear plastic ring, which seems to add an extra layer of protection without blocking the dog's peripheral visions, which can cause them anxiety. It’s easy to inflate and the measurements provided seem to be accurate. Be aware, though, that some dogs will manage to destroy them. I’ve used similar collars successfully with other dogs. However, the two pittie pups I just had neutered managed to destroy these in 2 days - one whole day longer than a donut collar without the plastic piece. They also destroyed their hard plastic cones, so that’s not a negative commentary on the product at all, it’s just to say that you should evaluate the destructive leanings of your own dog and make your choice of a recovery collar accordingly. I wouldn’t hesitate to get these again to use with other pups who are slightly less enthusiastic about escaping from their recovery collars.
