Rocks!!!
Guitar hero should give up rock band has now cemented its place at the top with great new instruments a massive set list and thousands to download. This as well as better graphics a better interface and menu system and most importantly better game play. The new instruments add so much to the experience the new guitar is excellent and could eaily teach you to play for real the keyboard is just like the real thing and the drums perfectly mimic the real songs ( i play drums myself. I would also like to congratulate amazon for a speedy 3 day delivered even though it was Christmas and snowing.

Still a great game, but not as good as the x-box version
The x-box version rates 5/5 for me, although I miss a few things from Rock Band 2's career map. The game-play in the performances is better in RB3, which is what really counts, and the spade collection challenges add variation. Harmony vocals and full band mode are great for larger groups with casual joining and leaving. The characters on-screen now have some very specific actions in the correct places in particular songs, which is a great touch. A few big drawbacks of the PS3 version and general points of unhappiness: One user can log in. Multiple players can use multiple characters on that user's account, but nothing on-screen or in the PS3 or RB3 manuals tells us how to let multiple users log in and play as characters on their own accounts, which the x-box lets you do. This means on the x-box you can compare top scores and best streak lengths and so on while on the PS3 they're all mine, no matter who actually got them. Switching users requires quitting the game then restarting it. User => Username => Quit Game => Switch Users => Start Game => Credit screens => Skip intro movie => Press Start => Wait => Right back where you were with only one user logged in, but it's a different user. It's still not two users. Maybe there's a way, but they're not making it obvious. The PS3 has 2 USB ports. Two. Seriously. Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboard, Lead Vocals, Harmony 1 and Harmony 2 and the vocalists' controller ... and only two USB ports. We're playing in grainy black and white. Maybe once the HDMI cable (not included) comes we can get some colour and higher resolution. The game comes with very few installed songs. Expect to pay ยฃ100 for a song library on top of the price of the game, the controllers, the microphones and the rest of what you need. Attempts to download the songs met with limited success as the downloads kept pausing for long periods, every time one finished the connection to the store would be lost and I had to watch the little cut-scene and go through three menus every time just to get back to the point where it *might* let me into the song list. Maybe if there was a text-only version where you could just highlight the ones you want, buy them all and then download them all, that'd work better. As it was, it was a drag. If you download in the background, you also seem to have to quit the game to install the songs. Cue title screens and opening video *again* ... When typing in a band or character name, Start or the on-screen Enter button should save it, but generally speaking you have to press that then press Square to delete the space that just appeared at the cursor and then press Start again to save and move on. To create a new character (and yes, you may well want seven of them) you have to watch the vid of your current character getting into a car and zooming off then entering a shop. Sure, it's neat that it's *that* car and the zoom clip ends when the meter hits 88, but *every* time? Then you choose a name and choose a shop from which to wear the default outfit, then sort out face, eyes, hair, muscle tone, height, weight and so on (City of Heroes does it *far* better but never mind) and then confirm that you really do want to make this character and then you ride the car back to the menu screen ... then you get back in the car and go back to the shop to choose an outfit. Sick of that car, now. Really. The game now has my credit card details. Somewhere, there ought to be a big fat "forget these card details" button. I must remember to go looking for that some time soon. O.o ... I got this "Blaze" guitar to go with this game: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001AWEHG0/ref=oss_product and it's crap. It's short, it's light, it doesn't have solo buttons, it didn't come with batteries or a strap, the radio link is flaky when the wireless keyboard's in use and trying to activate Star Power or whatever it's called in this game sometimes worked, sometimes did nothing and sometimes caused the guitar to disconnect. Occasionally it put the whammy effects menu on-screen and caused the guitar to disconnect, but either way it was no good. On top of that, the included instruction leaflet was really bad Engrish and mostly about how to play another game, not about the guitar. Don't get it. Really. I also got the Madcatz keyboard. By contrast, it comes with batteries and a strap, its USB plug base unit has two USB ports in it and it has worked perfectly the whole time. If you're going to get this game on x-box or PS, get Madcatz controllers. I'm replacing that guitar with one from them.

Well improved but leaves a bitter taste
With all the fun I've had with Rock Band 1 and with all I've heard about RB3 it promised to be a revolution. So I bought RB3 for PS3 with pro drums and keyboard. Quite expensive and no bundles were available, although Amazon had a savings deal with was appreciated. The game has been much improved in terms of navigation and controller setup, and it's easier to get started. A few things really left a bitter after-taste though. Firstly, the promised 7 member game (bass, guitar, drums, keyboard and 3 singers) only works in "all instruments mode" meaning that singers aren't scored. While I was happy that the two singstar mics worked together with the game, I was very disappointed that harmonies exist on so very few tracks. Mainly queen and bon jovi. Of the "pro" tracks only drums are readily available. This is plenty of fun! But ofcourse, pro guitar and bass is something I haven't tried on account of the controllers not being feasible. Keyboard is fun but really difficult. Also, song support is very poor. Many songs have parts but these are so short or simple (0/5 difficulty) that playing the keyboard on such a song is really boring. The promised dropping-in/dropping-out mid-game works well, except all scores are then reported as 0. Slightly annoying. Also, there are stability issues with the game itself AS WELL AS the store part. So there is plenty of unintentional dropping-out as the game crashes. When browsing the store (EU/SE) quite often I seem to drop out and end up back in the game with not explanation other than "there was a problem" - really? I'm on a well tested Linksys E3000 so there is no probs with my connection. What really angered me however is that DLCs are region locked. My RB1 was bought in the US and so I had to download from US online store. After two years of using RB1 and collecting quite a library these WILL NOT IMPORT since I bought the european version of RB3. So I can't get the songs I downloaded into RB3 and I can't export the RB1 songs into RB3. Before I knew this I had already bought the export key which I obviously won't get a refund for. So I'm stuck playing two different games OR re-downloading all the songs I like to play...... WHYYYYY!!!!????? That's making me like the game much less and motivates the score.

The best music game around
This is by far the best music game available at the moment, compared with the others in the Rock Band saga and with their rival, Guitar Hero. Whether you play it on your own or in a group, there are a good variety of songs available on the game disc and you get the option to quickly jump into a song or pursue your own career. There are thousands of songs available to download so there's always something to suit your taste. With this latest version you can actually learn to play the guitar, keyboard and drums for real, using the 'Pro' versions of the instruments. This game also takes advantage of the Sony Singstar microphones so that even if you just use the game as a singer, you can put your sense of coordination and rhythm to the test. Take advantage of the on-line function to link the game to your Rock Band website to share and view your own progress as you meet the very realistic goals set for you in the game.

Idc what anyone says, I love singing aloud in my home, so I have collected each series of rockband. After a ten year relationship i.lost the ps3 in the divorce including RB3. I tried to go straight to rb4 on the ps4 but all my downloaded songs could not be played. So I had to get rb3, in my own ps3 before I could download the songs, individually, on rb4. Long story short, the game stop works, but I'll probably play rb4, unless I loose the ps4...

It arrived right when I expected it to, it was rolling around a bit in the box, but I imagone that happened during shipping- there was no damage and the game plays perfectly. Couldn't be happier.

European version, would not play any of my 100 DLC songs. Not indicated in description that I could see. Didn't bother with a return, wound up buying the U.S. version again.
