Fantastic Air Conditioner
Great packaging, loved that it had heavy-duty strap, making it easy to get to window. Installation instructions perfect (great installation video). So easy to install, no bracket needed. Itโs quiet, no rattling, just a gentle hum. My old a/c had a louver that vibrated. Windmill has none. The double-sided insulation snaps into place, looks good & keeps out street noise. Love the app. Iโll probably never use the remote. Not a fan of the โecoโ mode (I wasnโt with my old a/c either). Low fan on cool keeps room at consistent, comfortable temperature. Highly recommend!

Low profile, sleek, effective - pup approved.
I have a very limited space on a 3rd floor apartment in an ancient house - so summers get hot. Unfortunately, there's really only one space for my dog's bed to go, and for the past few summers she's had to compete with the AC hanging loudly over her bed. Not so with the Windmill. It sits much shallower in the window, though the extra screw points leave it more secure than my past unit. It's sleek (which I like) and quiet (which she likes) and voila - I don't have a hot dog in my bed, she doesn't have a loud AC in hers, and everyone in the house is much happier. Even before the app, it's a superior option to standard units (and for folks who are app averse, you honestly don't even need it). Once you factor in the technology and sleek design, it fits in really nicely to the space (and yes, it does the job too - nice and cool). Life saver for me!

A Cool, Quiet Comfort: My Personal Experience with the Windmill AC.
From the moment I unboxed the Windmill AC, I knew I was in for a treat. The sleek unit blended into my living space as if tailor-made for it. Setting it up was a breezeโI had it purring quietly in the corner of my room without a hitch. It's the little things that make a difference; the gentle hum that fades into the background, allowing me to focus on my work or drift off into a peaceful sleep. And with the intuitive app, it feels like I have the weather at my fingertips, adjusting the climate of my room from the cozy confines of my couch or even when I'm away. But it's not just about comfortโthe Windmill AC speaks to my environmental conscience. Knowing that my choice helps in reducing my ecological footprint adds a layer of satisfaction beyond the immediate cooling relief. Every time I power it on, there's a reassuring thought that this small luxury aligns with my larger values. The Windmill AC isn't just an appliance; it's a part of my home experience, seamlessly integrating convenience, care for the planet, and personal comfort.

After 16+ years setting up window ACs, this is a winner
I have installed many window air-conditioners after moving from the land of central air to the Mid-Atlantic over 16 years ago. I have installed them in big cities and small cities, first floors to 5th floors. This window air-conditioner is by far the quietest and best-looking I have used. I love the app and the customized time settings I use. I love this air-conditioner so much that after buying two, I replaced another a/c in my kids' room with this unit, replacing one that was not quite dead yet. I love that I can turn the AC preemptively down from my phone if I'm not at home and know I want it even colder than the automatic settings for when I do get home. Like with any window air-conditioner, this is not as quiet as central air, nor will it temperature controled as well. Also, be sure and order the correct BTU for the room in question--- if you have a large bedroom and it gets full western sun and you have faced many 90+ degree days this summer outside, you might need the 8k over the 6k. But it looks really snazzy inside, directs the air UP as opposed to out (so it circulates rooms better if you have a ceiling fan on), and it even looks nicer outside the house. I plan to buy two more of these ACs for the other bedrooms. Definitely recommend it to others.

Not especially quiet, installation is fine, but overall not worth the price
I have a U-shaped Midea that is far quieter than this model. The compressor on this unit is quite quiet, but there is a lot of blowing noise that I wish could be eliminated. The unit defaults to eco mode every time you turn it on, and the temperature sensing is very inaccurate since there is no air moving across the sensor when the fan is off in eco mode, thus meaning it gets pretty hot before the unit comes back on โ not very eco in the end. The installation seems relatively easy, but I don't think it's so much easier than most units. It is an attractive air conditioner, but most people probably don't care that much what an air conditioner looks like as long as it's not an eyesore. I don't think this was worth the higher price compared to other models.

I can't seem to find the drain hole.
The appearance is quite nice. The air outlet faces upward. In terms of noise levels, it performs remarkably wellโit is very quiet. I can't even spot a drainage hole; it seems there is no drainage mechanism. Furthermore, the product description makes no mention of a drainage system.

Beware - windmill does not stand the test of time
I purchased this unit in 2023 and loved it. It cools my bedroom well and I enjoyed using the app, it looks great and is easy to install. Fast forward 2 years later I start experiencing technical bugs - disconnected from the app, random beeping, modes/temperatures changing on their own. I contacted Windmill support and they recommended a hard reset. After conducting this reset, I haven't been able to get the unit to cool for even 30 seconds before it starts malfunctioning. Windmill support said that the unit's control board malfunctioned, but since I am 1 year past the warranty, they would not provide me with a replacement despite this being a product defect. Don't waste your money. Having to now replace a $350 machine after just 2 years is a huge letdown, and I will be buying a cheap little frigidaire that will likely last 5+ years at a fraction of the price.

You can't clean it. Please, Save yourself the aggravation and don't buy a Windmill AC
I feel so gaslit right now because I did so much research for a good product and everything I saw about the Windmill AC was so positive. I bought two units last year and was so pleased with them. I felt their cooling capacity was actually very good (although now I've seen complaints about it) and the unit was super quiet and small compared to other units. Then fall came around and I was like "ok, time to clean the unit and store it away". The manual and their website say only to clean the absolutely-useless screen filter that every AC unit has and then to wipe down the exterior with some warm water. I thought this was crazy. No matter how well you engineer a product, you're going to get build up and mold on the interior. This is like buying a very fancy toilet that mandates you don't clean the bowl. My partner and I tried to open it anyways but we struggled and gave up. We settled on just vacuuming carefully around the fins/coils. Well, low and behold, the second year of use, one of the units is struggling to cool and my partner is getting super congested every time we run it. I figured there would be more content out there at this point talking about how to clean in, or at least people complaining about it. No. Nothing. I messaged Windmill and told them my issue. They just keep saying to not spray the coils with anything because it could damage the unit... how is this acceptable. They say only "authorized personnel" can open the unit, whatever that means. What is so magical about their unit that it can't be cleaned like every other window unit? I'm willing to accept I got snookered into buying a flashy but poorly-engineered product. But the fact that I can't find *any* negative reviews admonishing Windmill for making a unit that is impossible to maintain makes my blood boil. If it weren't for the lack of ability to clean my units, I'd give this product 5 stars. I want to give it 1 star because I'm so mad but when it's clean, it does perform well.
