Excellent kit!
Now I'm a camera newbie-ish, so I've never had a proper tripod, but I am SO glad I picked this as my first one. Sturdiness: This thing will not budge in wind, I had it on the beach, and it was really windy, and even on sand, I was never afraid of my camera falling over or anything! Rock solid! Size: It is kinda heavy for lugging around, and it was too big for me to fit in a normal gym bag, but if you take the attached head off, it fits into a bag with a small extendable bit, and once you have a comfy bag it really won't be an issue! It has taken a couple of bangs and all, no damage, this is a proper piece of equipment. The attachment as well is super easy to use, very smooth for moving the camera, and once it's locked it's locked. Very happy with it! :)

Manfrotto 055 3 Leg Section Tripod with X Pro 3 Way Head Kit - Aluminium
It`s surprising the confidence that having good gear gives you. Before I got this brilliant piece of kit I was bodging with weak flimsy rubbish, balancing gear on boxes, needing three hands and getting really frustrated. I thought this setup was quite expensive initally but having used it a lot it is worth every penny. Rock solid, great head, can get to amazing angles. Would not like to carry it any big distance as being so sturdy and well made it is not light. I use this at home and very close to home for macro photography and it is a pleasure. Highly recommended.

Great heavy duty tripod
Solid Professional grade tripod, Efficient and flexible head. The tripod base itself, Is decently heavy duty and will stay stationary in heavy wind. Admittedly this can be a drawback for longer journeys where weight is an issue, However with access to easy transportation or for studio work this is ideal. The one bad thing I have to say about this product was the packaging on arrival, Luckily mine was undamaged but it was just the tripod in a thin box. So with poor delivery drivers expect there to be a possibility of it being a bit beaten up, check on delivery is advised.

Excellent
I did my research on the correct tripod for what I needed and I found this to be the best option for me and also for cost. I have given it 4 stars not 5 just because it is quite weighty and while this isnt a bad thing for stability the tripod kit doesnt have a bag or strap for easy transport so you have to buy one separately hence the 4 star rating. I needed a better quality tripod to replace my Hama Star 63 which just wasnt up to scratch for what I needed, as it was too light and just didnt go low enough for me. I am a keen macro photographer but anyone who knows anything about macro will know you quite often have to use a tripod for best results and if its not stable enough it wont produce a decent photograph. The 055 legs are excellent and allow the centre column to be moved 90 degrees from upright and the legs go so low you can get about 5-10cm from the floor which is excellent for low down macro shots. The head is amazing and compact as I have had chance to use the older version and the handles were only screwed on and did not retract and this made the setup quite long and this was not what I wanted. The leg sections are amazing and solid they do not feel like they will slip and the clamps (whatever you call them) are solid and easy to use but not as if they are going to open up and allow the legs to ruin a shot. The tripod extend to an excellent height, I find that it is slightly too tall for me at full extension but all I need do is spread the legs slightly or just not extend the legs enough.

Poor quality
Poor, head sinks and less than a year in and one of the legs is broken

Sturdy and well made but not a featherweight
This is my second Manfrotto tripod - Sturdy, well made and easy to set up and use. A note for southpaws though - two of the setting knobs on this head are on the right. It is not lightweight but Manfrotto have other products for that including a carbon fibre model in this range.

Great, sturdy, heavy duty Tripod
Used with a Nikon Full frame D600 camera and a Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 lens. Even with fully extended legs and centre bar this tripod is solid. A useful feature over my previous tripod is the centre column turning 90 degrees. This allowed me to get my camera and tripod very low to the ground, about 6 inches.

I was looking to invest in a good tripod and did a lot of research on what I wanted to purchase. I was initially thinking about Dolica or Ravelli with a budget of around 10,000 INR. Both these brands had plenty of good options in that price range. But somehow I wasn't completely convinced that I wanted to invest in a medium level Tripod. So I finalized on the Manfrotto MT055XPRO3. I knew Manfrotto is known for quality in their tripods and I wasn't let down. Here are my thoughts and feedback. The sturdiness you can achieve while taking photos is insane!! It's rock solid even when you are taking night photography with the largest lens you could use. I used my Canon T3i with 75-250mm lens at shutter speeds of 30 secs and the picture was always flawless!! I initially thought this was a bit heavy especially when I was trekking some mountains that ranged 1200 m. But the number of amazing photos I got while using the tripod at the top and along the trek was worth the extra weight. It doesn't come with a carry bag so I ended up getting the MBAG80N which fit the tripod and the X-PRO 3-Way Head perfectly. I am a fitness crazy guy so I was able to carry this along the trek. For someone that doesn't workout much, carrying this tripod along long treks might be tedious. The tripod has tons of customization possible. It can extend to over 6 ft with the center column extended. I am 5'10 and I found the height options very useful for various angles. The three legs are super sturdy even when fully extended. The center column can also be setup horizontally for photos over fences, water bodies etc. Through the entire time, I didn't feel even once that the tripod was unstable. I guess the extra tripod weight helps :) The latches on the legs are very easy to use and very quick to open and close. The legs slide out without any friction when you open the latches and when you lock the latches in, they are super solid. You can lower the tripod all the way down to the ground if you want to take Macro photos. This can be done easily by adjusting the legs and bringing the center column into a horizontal position. The center column can easily be setup in the horizontal position. The small button at the bottom of the center column makes it easy for the user to push the column up and into the horizontal position. In all, I felt very comfortable with the tripod and was able to play around with the various angles achievable with this tripod. The X-PRO 3-Way Head which I got along with this tripod was a welcome addition giving me 3 ways of additional customization. It holds the camera with ease and I didn't experience any shake in any of my pictures in any angle. This is a solid tripod for a very good price(I got it for around 19,000 Rs on Amazon.In). I would definitely recommend it for medium to pro level photographers. It is worth the investment and the quality of your pictures will definitely make you realize that you made the right choice.
