How to fit adapter to an attachment with the same od...
I got this to fit my Dewalt DWE575 circular saw's dust attachment to my vac. Problem is it's a 1 1/4 outlet and my Ridgid shop vac uses 2 1/2 inch fittings. I got this Powertech 2 1/2 to 1 1/4 adapter which fits my vac hose perfectly, but the 1 1/4 end is the same size as the outlet on the dust attachment, so one does not fit in the other, (rather than the od on one matching the id on the other, they have roughly the same od and id). I got this blue striped hose from the plumbing section at Lowe's, sold by the foot for about $4. It fits perfectly on the reducer, but It was a tad too tight for the dust collection attachment so I used a heat gun and the bottle of foam filter oil in the pic. The bottle has a neck that is the perfect size to stretch out the hose to fit the dust collector. I got it warm and pushed it down the neck to open up the id. After a couple applications it fits perfect. Now everything fits up very tight with a perfect seal. Works great. I also have a Dewalt random orbital sander that the hose fit on perfectly without stretching. I cut the tubing in half and used half to make an adapter for that as well with the Powertech reducer. I don't do many reviews, but it can be a real headache to figure this stuff out, so hopefully this review helps others with the same issue.

Reducer/Adapter
Very tight fit to our shop vac hose. But it does work well. Measure accurately!

Knew what it was when I bought it and works great.
As the majority of the other reviews mention this "coupler" is measured using the outside dimensions. My ShopVac hose fits snug in the 2-1/2" end but the 1-1/2" end butts up against the output from my router. A little but of tape solved that problem. Otherwise perfect product. Does exactly what it should for a good price.
