Medieval Monsters

I confess I found myself mildly disappointed with this book. It is a reasonable introduction to the subject but relies heavily on illustrations. Given that there is only a small number of monsters covered, I felt that they could have been explored more thoroughly. Like I said, it is not bad as an introduction to the subject for a younger audience and the illustrations are pretty good but ultimately I was disappointed by the lack of content.

Purchased as a gift for a fan of medieval manuscripts. the book is quite small and not particularly thick and perhaps fewer illustrations than I expected however, having said that, I don't know very much about these things and it may be that someone with this particular interest will appreciate it. the book arrived earlier than expected and was well wrapped and arrived in good condition.

An enchanting little book, and an interesting insight into the medieval mind and some of its preoccupations! I only wish it had been three times longer. I bought this as a gift, but have kept it for myself!Reads even better accompanied by some early music with crummhorn and rauschpfeife...

I love the style of this book. I got it as a gift for someone and may end up buying my own copy

Brought as a present, nice photographs - would make an interesting coffee table book.

Another wonderful book from the British Library. It is proof why the literal book will not disappear. An amazing collection of monster illustrations.
