Not a spec of black. All regular opal.
Sizing was right, quality was right, color was all wrong. There was not a single bit of black on the entire stones. These were identical to the regular rough opal from the same seller. I even double checked the label thinking I may have just been sent too little boxes of regular opal. Nope, labeled black opal. See attached picture for black opal next to normal opal from same seller. I'd love someone to tell me which one is the black opal.

You get what you pay for
Very good quality stones. They were indeed natural Ethiopian opals. If you're looking to cut , I'd suggest going for higher carrots

Wish I got what was pictured:(
I was very excited to receive the stones. But when I finally got them and opened them, I was not excited anymore! Two of the five stones have no color at all and the three that do are all cracked. If I try to do anything with them they are going to break into pieces. I am very displeased.

Not what is advertised, but still pretty.
This was the first time I’ve ever purchased *stones, of any type, so I was not sure what to expect. While I am certain not one of these opals would qualify as a “black opal”, they are still very pretty. And I am mostly, Very happy with my purchase. I would have given 5 stars had there been even one opal in the lot, that fit the item description, but there was not. I will probably purchase this again though, because I am obsessed with opals, as they are my birthstone. These are the first ones I’ve ever owned, and won’t be the last. You probably won’t get what you’re expecting, just keep that in mind when ordering.

Mostly sandstone
Very small, low quality. Mostly sandstone with very little actual opal material. Photos do not match the product and there is no enough opal material to buff and polish the stones into anything resembling the opals pictured. Not a good value for your money, check your local rock shop or rock hound club and you can get similar quality for free.

Luck of the pull
I got lucky as the the seller gave me 5 very nice stones that I really like. All a very decent size and lots of color. Beautiful.

Horrible
If I could minus a zero I would. I did a quality test and it came up as flint microcrystalline. This is not Black Opal. Rip off. Should be a shame if you. Will be returning
