## Overview

Alpha Pro Fluidizer is a premium dry polycarboxylate superplasticizer designed to dramatically improve concrete workability without adding water. ## Description

Too much water is the number one reason for problems with concrete. It leads to weaker concrete more prone to cracking. Too much water negatively affects compressive, tensile and flexural strengths, porosity, shrinkage and color.Most of the water used in concrete countertop mix designs is not necessary for hydration of the cement. It is simply “water of convenience” added to make the concrete workable – easy to mix and pour. But this water of convenience causes all of the problems listed above.The solution is to use a water reducer. The most powerful high-range water reducers are called superplasticizers. Alpha Pro Polymer is an extremely powerful polycarboxylate superplasticizer.- Dose as a percentage by weight of cementitious material (cement + pozzolan)- Suggested starting dose for fluid concrete: 0.375%, Use less just to gain workability, Max dose: 1.5%- Overdosing will lead to segregation (water separates and floats to the top, and the aggregates sink to the bottom), so make test batches to ensure optimum dosage for your concrete mix design

Review: Enough for a lot of bags of cement - Works great. I just sprinkled a small amount into the 5 gallon bucket after starting to mix the 80 lb bag of cement. Doesn’t take much to make a big difference. Mix it for a good minute at least. Two is better. Cement became much more flowable without adding any extra water.
Review: Improves Concrete Workability - I love this product. All it took was one or two tablespoons added to a bag of Rapid Set concrete which was mixed with the minimum amount of water/latex admixture to turn it from barely able to clump to the consistency of a thick pancake batter. This makes it easy to pour the mixture into 2 inch wide cracks in concrete slab as well as finishing the surface. Using minimum amount of liquid gives the highest strength concrete. This helps reduce cracking due to winter freeze and thaw . I filled about 35 feet of cracks in patio varying from 2” to 6” last fall. This spring the patio is solid without any cracks. Note the Rapid set concrete has a higher strength than typical bags of concrete made with Portland cement. The one downside is that the Rapid set concrete sets up within about 15-20 min even when using set control and working at 50F (late fall. Western NY). Great product.

I mixed up a few batches of really dry, stiff concrete, and just tested each one to see how little of this plasticizer I could add, and I was kind of amazed how much difference it made! There are other brands, but this one was inexpensive and did the job really well.
