This book is wonderful! Very engaging and thought-provoking. The author develops her points very well and uses examples that can act as reading recommendations for the future.

Very Nice
This brief account of eros is beautifully poetic distillation of the multiple instantiations of the logic of eros in ancient Greek philosophy and myth. Carson is a first rate classicist and her powers as an interpreter of ancient Greek texts is abundant here. More importantly, her poetic sensibility illuminates the lightness and complexity of the movement of eros; through readings of Plato, Sappho, and others, a vibrant picture of eros and its place within Greek thought emerges. I was particularly struck with her writing on the temporality of eros, which does so much to encapsulate its paradoxical essence. A supremely beautiful and enlightening text.

Even though Amazon wants me to treat this book as a piece of fiction, it's really a lyrical essay, so things like pace, mood, and character development are not the right way to judge this incredible exploration of desire.

A fascinating study on lover's behaviour..
Nice book- not for all the readers though. I'm glad that i have studied Classic Greek & Latin literature, because that made my reading more easy and familiar. If you are not a grecian, this will bore you. It's not a ''lesbian'' book, it's a literature essay- who happens to analyze the subject of Eros (Love in ancient greek).
