A favourite book of ours
I first bought this book when when my youngest son was very little (he's now 20)I love this book, its rhyming falls effortlessly and, well, we love monkeys 🐒 🙈 🙊 ❤️I'm buying this to gift to a friend when her new baby arrives. It's important to read to your child early and though probably more likely to listen when they are many months older as they sleep alot to begin with it's still nice for them to recognise the tone and sound of your voice. Our favourite book.Highly recommend for all.

yet another winner
I totally love Julia Donaldson's books. Her writing is imaginative, fun and always a pleasure to read aloud to my son. The rhythm and word play is up to her usual excellent standard - although The Gruffalo is a classic and The Snail and the Whale is pure pleasure that never ceases to bring a tear to my eye! - and the illustration in Night Monkey is also to be commended, very bold and bright.Night Monkey Day Monkey is not only fun but educates children about opposites and also what happens during the day and/or night. It's got a fabulous little ending too.My 31 month old loves her books and given he is a really energetic busy little boy, then Donaldson's books are indeed magical because they're the only ones he gives his full attention to. Needless to say, I've bought every single one she's ever written!!

Great read if you have great light!
We got this as part of my daughters second birthday. It's a beautifully written book however I have dropped a star because of how hard this is to read at bedtime in dim lighting. The wording is in black. And almost every page of the book, the background is dark blue. Making it an almost impossible combination to read in subtle lighting.Other than that, it is one of our favourite books and has opened up a lot of exploring from my daughter. Such as "where is my shadow?"

A calming bedtime story.
We bought this for our toddler as he was starting to get a bit anxious at bed times and reviews seemed to suggest that this book could be helpful. This is a lovely Julia Donaldson book and is an easy one to read and for toddlers to listen to as it rhymes and is slightly repetitive in places so is quite catchy. The basic premise is that things can feel strange in the night but can be explained e.g. strange noises etc..The book is beautifully illustrated and like all Julia Donaldson books, it will be popular with toddlers and young children.

Wonderful Book!
What a gorgeous book from Julia Donaldson, it has her witty and amusing rhyming as with books such as The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom with a wonderful story with a fabulous moral and it's all about monkeys which my son adores. Beautiful pictures and a strong narrative makes this a lovely book that I enjoy reading as much as my son enjoys hearing.

Calming croup soother!
This is a really lovely book - our 19 month old had it as a 1st birthday present, and he's still not tired of it. It has a great rhythm to it, which helped him to get off to sleep to begin with, now he stays awake to listen right to the end. The book is nicely illustrated so as an adult I don't get sick of reading it to him over and over and over; there is plenty to find in it. When he had croup this was the only thing that calmed him down so that his breathing became normal again.

Warm story, great bedtime read, not too long
My 2 1/2 year old loves this book. It's a warm and humorous story about a monkey that lives in the night that meets the day monkey and sees all the daytime delights of animals and sights that the daylight brings (and vice versa). Matching other reviews, it's a shame that the dark writing is often against a dark background which can make it difficult to read when you have dim lighting to bring your little ones into the sleep zone but we have had much fun reading this together and the story gives many opportunities to use different voices to entertain. Good book, warm loving story of a relationship between two monkeys and a great bedtimes read.
