Even though the item is advertised as “unfinished”, it is actually finished brown. What is nice about it is that it is hinged and can be closed since it has a latch.It works well for the purpose it was purchased and it is relatively inexpensive given it is finished (in a way), plus it looks sturdy.It is a good buy.

Nice box for gifts , jewellery etc

I am very pleased, in good part because this happens to be the perfect size for our 3 remote controls, but also because I could not easily build anything this nice or light weight myself. The hardware is handsome and works well, but I did finish the black painted wood with sandpaper for a distressed look, then applied semi-gloss polyurethane. For an inexpensive, simple wooden box, this is a very good find.

Perfect to hide my little pile of pill boxes, note pad , etc. On my end table. Love it.

I got this box to store a leather strop & stropping compounds. It is the size I need. The wood was smooth- no rough edges or splinters. I like the inside hinge, that keeps the lid from flopping all the way back.I also like the lock; it looks good & stays closed when I need it to.I was able to label it with my wood burner & seal it with linseed oil, which it absorbed readily. Highly recommended.

The hinges are barely holding this thing together, and the lid does not hold itself up. Not great quality, it looks fine, closed on a shelf, which is what it's gonna do for the next 20 years. Don't buy this if you're going to open it every day, I'm sure it'll fall apart. This is the type of box you put a memento in and leave it there.

I bought the box intending to paint it but the wood is so pretty and the box is very nicely made so I am going to leave it natural.
