Will this cut through 5mm screw?

If the screw is a steel or brass screw, yes. Unfortunately, many screws sold today are hard alloy steel and make life difficult for those who wish to shorten them or cut them for any other purpose. Why they make these screws so hard, I don't know, because it is not necessary for ordinary use. If you wish to cut hard alloy materials, you need something harder like a small disc grinder (modeller's type). These blades will make hard work of it, but you will get there with determination and muscle.
