This is more like a mattress pads on steroids rather than a topper. While the loft might be 3-inches at the max, compression by a bottom fitted-sheet greatly squishes it.It washes well!As with everything that I wear or sleep on, this got washed right off the bat I washed this in a GE front-loading machine. Drying it was a different thing. It needs to be checked on and refluffed about every five minutes as it gets really hot. I wound up letting it air-dry to finish.The upper pad dimensions are generous. The edge of the pad easily meets the edge of the mattress. The debbie-downer aspect is the edge elastic. It is seriously under-powered. Having stronger elastic would help to pull the side panels down and under the mattress for a much neater and tidy look. Not sure how much creep or slippage there is as I'm just starting to sleep on the pad. If there is slippage, I'll update this review.The side panel fabric could be a little more substantial. I think it would help to keep the pad in place.I spotted one errant thread that was not just excess...it was part of the quilt stitching. It was actually becoming unstitched at that point.I slept wrapped up in it for two nights and did not get hot. That's a good thing to report!Fix the bottom elastic and this could get bumped to five stars.

I gave this item a 3-star because it kept sliding off the bed. My son’s dorm bed is a few inches higher than standard so my short son had a difficult time maintaining it on bed. It doesn’t contain straps to tie it down to mattress, so he chose to keep it off. Although, one of my other kids used it on the dorm hard floor durin a recent visit and he said it was extremely comfortable! Other than that comfort was great. Don’t know that the cooling gel made much difference.

After I use this product, I feel so comfortable, and I can go deep sleep.

Not soft enough. Did not come up to it's reputed 3 inch height. Returned it.

This mattress topper is easy to put on and doesn't pop off of the matress with weight. It did add a layer of softness to our bed and is comfortable but it doesn't add "that much".
