Essential reading for anyone that was there for the NFL boom of the early 80's and beyond.
Ben's writing in this book is knowledgable, never patronising and full of well researched content.Every chapter, I could see some of my own NFL journey in, and I had so much in common with all the subjects. I was interviewed for the book, which was a great honour, and Ben took everything I said and put it down pretty much exactly as I said it, and conveyed my own memories in a way I wanted them to come across. My review is not biased at all by my small involvement, and when I received the book, every chapter resonated with me, the quality of writing is excellent throughout. If you experienced that early NFL mania, you will absolutely feel the same, and it'll bring back so many memories! Worth every penny!

An entertaining journey through the UK's love of Americana and the NFL!
The book progresses down a chronological timeline of the development of American Football in the UK, with each chapter touching on a element of the game that was developing in the UK at that point in time. We start with the launch of Channel 4 coverage in 1982, and then work through chapters on the London Monarchs & Scottish Claymores, Channel 5 late night football and British fans tailgating in the US.What I loved about the format was each chapter has an interview with a knowledgeable fan / expert at it's core, and this interview is supported with further detail to build up a complete picture of the area in question. We meet a Claymores fan who toured Europe to support the club. We meet an avid collector of NFL memorabilia from the 1980's. We hear from Nat Coombs about his experiences in media on Channel 5 and TalkSport. This format allows the book to have an informal yet informative tone which makes you want to read more each time you pick it up.This is a great read for anyone who has been into the game for years, or who has just taken an interest and wants to discover the journey of the game on these shores.

Same! Ben Isaacs, Same!
There are so many relatable stories in this book. I myself got into the NFL through the SNES madden games, they were cheap if you got a version that was a few seasons out of date. I feel in love with the team names and colours. Didn't really have a team until Superbowl 48, from then on I've been a die hard Seahawks Fan. If you love NFL and from the UK, you will find at least a few versions of this book. I hope he does one every year because there are so many stories to tell.
