Randomly comes on
Purchased several of these in Feb 2023 for a commercial renovation project. Our electrician told us that they are extremely cheap. Recently, one has started randomly coming on; it stays on for a few seconds then goes off for a few seconds, then on again. I was going to try to contact the manufacturer for advice about what to do, but inasmuch as we no longer have the packaging I don't know who to contact. I Google Ostek, but didn't find anything. We'll probably end up having to pay an electrician to figure it out.

Hardwired, 120v, battery backup emergency light. You could also add a cord.
We live in the mountains of eastern West Virginia, in the middle of a National Forest. There comes the occasional power outage and while I have numerous back-up systems, such as 12 volt lighting, when the power drops out, I still have to go find the switches to turn those one. Yes, we have strategically located flashlights and LED lanterns, but I wanted an automatic system and this fits the bill. It is a permanent mount, 120 volt AC hardwire system. It uses a built-in battery pack for its secondary power supply. You could put on a cord if you did not want to permanent mount. Be aware that you MUST plug in the battery pack upon mounting for the system to work. In addition, it may take it 1-2 days to fully charge the battery. After that point, operations are automatic. Power goes out, lights come on. This provides a good amount of light and it doesn’t look bad. It is far less “industrial” looking than the old boxy style emergency lights. A fully charged battery does run this for a bit over 90 minutes, so it exceeds the description on initial use. Be aware that over time, this will be reduced due to battery capacity drop. Just a fact of life. The only negative is the aesthetic quality of the buttons for light removal. I’m dropping a star for that, as it gives the feeling that they might break easily, but probably won’t. 4 stars. I will update if I find in the future that this fails in one area or another. Note: I have been an Amazon customer for almost 20 years. I write all of my reviews to reflect my personal observations and opinions on a product. It matters not if I have purchased the item myself or if it was provided to me for review. My goal is to provide other potential customers as much real-world knowledge as possible to make an informed decision. In most cases I will return to my review in 6 months or less to see if I should alter my original observations. In no case will the cost of a product influence my opinions at all. In addition, I will try to include multiple images and or videos on each product, if practical.

Prepared for a power outage
I like being prepared for power outages, that's why I find these lights so handy for illuminating the way to connect my generator in the garage. I installed one over my breaker panel to aid in the switching of power to my generator as well. Construction of the unit is ok and the lights are not extremely bright, but definitely help guide you in a time of need. They indicate a 30 minute run time - I haven't checked that out. I had an issue with the lights not testing when I first installed them. I was confused by the instructions if I had to wait 24 hours for the lights to test or was the unit defective. I reached out to the seller and they responded within hours that I should check to make sure all wires were connected inside. They were right, the plug for the battery was not attached. I don't know if I knocked that loose when installing or it came from the factory that way, but regardless, that resolved the issue and the lights now work. Thanks for their quick response, the issue was resolved right away. Installation - The worst part was getting the 120v line to where I wanted to mount it. Ideally I wanted it above the door, but would have to drill through to many 2x6's, so opted to mount it to the side of the door and above a gfi receptacle. The bracket that comes with the unit did not align with my junction box, so I just mounted the back portion of the light directly to the junction box. This gave me a tighter fit to the wall. Definitely a good addition to your home if you encounter power outages frequently. I would recommend the purchase. UPDATE - The instructions indicate to connect the battery during installation after the AC power has been installed. My bad! Who likes to read instructions....LOL
