Must buy game
If you're looking for a puzzle that will keep your child entertained and engaged, I highly recommend this game! One of the things I love about this puzzle is that it comes with easy-to-grasp pieces that are perfect for small hands. The puzzle is made up of brightly colored wooden blocks that feature numbers and letters. This is not just a fun game for kids to play, but it's also an effective tool for learning. Sorting the blocks into their correct numerical and alphabetical order helps children develop their cognitive and problem-solving skills. The blocks are eco-friendly and sturdy, making them a safe choice for children. My kid had fun figuring out how to fit each piece into the correct slot and complete the caterpillar. Overall, I would highly recommend this game to any parent or educator looking for an engaging and educational tool for children.

Cute and just challenging enough
I got this puzzle for my pre-kindergarten classroom. It's a great activity to help them learn letter and number recognition. In order to put the puzzle together, you have to make sure the pieces are all turned the either the number or the letter side, otherwise the kids can get confused. Sometimes, they still got confused, thinking ten was the letter O with a line underneath, for example. They put the puzzle together by putting the numbers or letters in the correct order. So, they have to know their numbers and letters and what comes next. The puzzle does give a little help in that letters and numbers that are close together are grouped by the different colors of the caterpillar. The pieces are made of good, solid wood and are nice and thick, so it is sure to hold up for a long time!My students loved this puzzle and all wanted to try it out. Since most of my students know a lot, if not all, of their letters and numbers already, it wasn't too hard for them, but it was still challenging enough, figuring out what comes next and where it attaches, that it kept their interest. They were all very proud when they were able to complete it! They took turns doing the puzzle over and over on the first day I put it out and it has remained a popular puzzle choice daily ever since!

Colorful, creative learning toy
My kiddos love puzzles and when puzzles become learning tools, it’s a welcomed bonus! This wooden caterpillar is an excellent example of bridging fun and educational activities. It’s sized large enough to easily manipulate, but not so large that it’s unwieldy. Attached is a pic of it next to a popular book for scale. It’s more challenging than it appears, so the enclosed assembly guide is handy. My 3 year old, ever the stickler for details, got a bit miffed that the #22 piece color didn’t match the guide picture and she was confused why our puzzle didn’t look like the picture. It took a bit of gentle explanation for her to move on. The concept is great, but a few notes: some of the pieces were a bit dinged on arrival. Since we’re keeping it for us, it’s not a deal breaker, but I would be a little irked if gifting it to someone and pieces looked shabby. The number side of the pieces is pretty clear, but the alphabet side is a little hard to decipher for younger kiddos. My 5 1/2 year old enjoys this caterpillar puzzle, too but his mission it to build it standing upright, which can get a little frustrating because the loose puzzle joints aren’t meant to connect that way. Overall, this is a fun puzzle/toy that both kiddos are enjoying and is seeing frequent use!

A Very Nice, Thick Wooden Puzzle to Help Kids Learn Numbers and Letters
I’ve purchased wooden puzzles before and had the wood be ¼ inch thick or less. This wooden puzzle of a “Clever Caterpillar” from Skillmatics is fully 5/8 of an inch thick. That’s the thickest wooden puzzle I’ve ever seen! I’m a grandfather and am always looking for items that will help me teach my grandchildren useful think while having fun with them. So, when I saw this puzzle that can help them learn their numbers and letters (in order), I ordered it.This color-coded puzzle allows your child to put the correct pieces (letters or numbers) together in small parts and then connect them together as the whole. It is a complicated puzzle with lots of options to it. The coloring of the closely related pieces makes it much more simple to put together! Once the kids get the idea of the numbers and letters they will see how they fit in order, which will make the puzzle even easier to do.The pieces fit together well, so that if you see that a piece doesn’t do that, it’s not in the correct space. I have to tell you, I cheated with the picture on the box several time! These puzzle pieces won’t bend or break as your child plays with them. Great! They’re also big enough that you will have difficulty losing them (but it will still probably happen – but then it will be easier finding them!).
