Husqvarna 455 Rancher Gas Chainsaw, 20 inch, 55-cc 3.5-HP

Don’t waste your time with smaller models if you have work to do. This has been the best purchase I have made for clearing land. No more fighting the machine and the trees. The rancher makes it incredibly easy to go through hard woods. When the bar/blade do get pinched and create a lack of tension on the chain the reset is quick and painless, no need to completely take things apart. Very happy with the purchase. 200+ trees cut at this point and 0 issues.

I can see why it's the most preferred amongst the pros. Very powerful and smooth. Does get heavy after a bit.

I love this chainsaw. It's easier to start than my 450 R, the extra power makes it easier on my body because I don't have to work the machine in to the wood. I'm able to buy a skip tooth for it so sharpening is easier and cutting faster. It's a great strong woman chainsaw. I'm 72, I've had huskies for 30 years. The last 2 were somewhat disappointments but not this one. It rocks. I love the compression release and the way the choke is set up to use. The 20" saw chain and bar are the perfect counter weight to the machine.

Great saw

Wow! What a saw. I’ve always had a chain saw and have cut many trees down. This is my first husqvarna and the most powerful one I have owned and man is it awesome. I guess this is my first professional saw. I have always used smaller stihls. Love this saw and see why there is such a rivalry between them and stihl. Starts like butter. Cuts like butter. Only one problem the oil pump was clogged when I started using it. Did some investigating and it had some shears of metal in it. So I was mad about that. But I can understand stuff happens and it is a simple mistake. Rather than go through the whole warranty and return I just ordered a new pump kit for $15. That’s why only the four stars. Other than that it’s 5 stars. Maybe it was good because I learned about the oil pump and other parts of the saw. Smaller saws don’t have these features. Another feature it has is the decomp button for starting, that is new to me. Make sure you read the proper starting order. Once you know it starts perfect. Also a much cheaper deal here than in stores.

Started right up after adding some oil and gas. Had a slight initial issue with chain being too tight, but after fixing that, I used it hard for about 3 hours in some VERY thick logs and did a nice job. Starting each time was great - no issues. I wish there was a little less plastic on it (for the long-term use), but it was a work horse when I used it so far. More to saw so will update later. Would I buy another one? For sure!

I purchased this saw without fully reading the Amazon return policy for chainsaws. Shame on me. The saw ran great but the chain oiler was not working. I didn't discover this fact until I had made four cuts on a log that I was working on. The chain seized up because it overheated. I then noticed there was oil leaking out of the bottom of the saw. My first thought was to return the saw and get a new one and that's when I discovered that the saw was unreturnable. I contacted Husqvarna through their website but never heard back from them. I am now working through a local dealer to repair the saw. Had I known about the Amazon no return policy on the saw, I would have purchased the saw from a local dealer to begin with. Should've bought a Sthil.

I originally ordered a Stihl MS 271 and asked for it to be shipped to my local Stihl dealer, 2 miles from my home. There was a promo to get the carrying case for free and an extended warranty.However, without telling me, the local dealership decided not to honor the promotion or my purchase from Stihl's website. They canceled the order without telling me, leaving me without the tools I needed a few days before I needed them for time-critical work. I had to fell a dead tree before an outbuilding was placed on the property, where later felling would be impossible.Amazon came through by delivering my Husqvarna 455 Rancher in about 4 days, allowing me to finish the work on time. This saw is rugged, hig quality, and cuts like butter. The vibration system works great, and I like that it's steel springs versus rubber dampeners. Also, the saw felt more substantial in the hand than the MS 271, which felt a bit light and cheap to me at the store where I learned they had cacneled my order wihtout telling me.The Stihl dealer explained that they didn't honor online promotions, then offered to sell me the same saw for $100 more with no accessories included. He also failed to provide the safety chaps I had ordered, and did not offer an excuse. This complete failure of customer service totally negated Stihl's value proposition of providing local customer service, and Amazon beat them in every other way by delivering this excellent product on time.
