Very sturdy jack stands with a FLAT top and rubber pad
These are very nice, heavy duty single locking jack stands, one of the very, very few that offer a thick steel FLAT top with rubber pad to avoid damaging unibody vehicles. They are locked by a beefy pin that engages the post in one of many drilled-thru holes. The post pin is secured with a locking ring that, while not the best I've seen, does the job to prevent any rare, inadvertent dislodging of the post pin. While not low cost, these jack stands are rated at 6000 lbs. EACH (that's 12,000 lbs. PER PAIR) which is typically TWICE the load capacity of other jack stands that claim 6000 lbs. PER PAIR. When placed properly (especially on unibody vehicles), these jack stands with its robust build and wide tripod stance provides an extremely safe and stable platform for your raised vehicle (IF and ONLY IF you know what you are doing when hoisting a vehicle and place the stands properly). They are without a doubt one of the safest I have experienced to date. I bought these primarily for use under a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan (unibody), a 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser and a 2019 Toyota Tundra (both body on frame). For these vehicles, the #10498 with its minimum height of 13.2 inches is an appropriate choice. Those reviewers that downgraded the 10498 because it is too tall to fit under their sedans should have paid more attention prior to purchase and selected the 10499 model with its 11" minimum height instead of the 10498. If you want to use these on pinch welds instead of underbody jacking points, take a look at some of the large jack pads from TMB with slots pre-cut for exactly that purpose (I prefer the grey polyurethane which is harder than the black rubber and can take heavier weight and/or longer use). These will save your Esco-supplied pads from being cut up by the pinch welds when the vehicle's weight is bearing down on the pads.

Very Good Jack Stand
Solid quality stand for home/DIY personal use. In a time where crap is sold as quality, these are nice to see. They are beefy steel material with a wide base for stability. The multiple hole positions in the center tube allow for fine height adjustment. The male stems are well made and solid steel bar material. The rubber pads for the top of the stems are also a nice feature to protect the underside of vehicles from being gouged by the stand Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quality jack stand amongst the endless choices of cheap crap in the world. These feel like they are built to last and will be the only set of stands you’ll ever need to buy in your life.

Worth the money to not get crushed by my car
After I returned my recalled HF jack stands due to their failure risk, I started doubting the ratchet mechanism used on the majority of the jack stands. It seems like most brands are using the ratchet style. These jack stands are almost 4x the cost, but then I got to thinking that my life is worth more than that, not to mention the cost of a visit to the ER or an ambulance ride, or the cost of a funeral and mental anguish when my wife comes outside to find me squashed under my car. These jack stands are very well made. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I did not notice any manufacturing defects or burrs or any other signs of poor finishing. The pins slide in well and the welds were well done. I wasn't sure about the tripod structure, but when you see it in person you see that it is very sturdy, and covers about a square foot of real estate. I put up my 4000 lb car on these jacks while changing out my brakes and they worked well. No wobbling. No worries. And looking at the half inch thick pin, I don't have any worries about failure of that either. It hurt the wallet to buy a set of these, but as the saying goes: buy once, cry once.

Best value insurance you can buy
In 2021, the average cost of car insurance is over $100 per month and the average cost of health insurance is nearly $500 per month, and we all know those costs will continue to rise. These jack stands can be purchased for a little over $50 per stand...a one time fixed cost that will never need to be repeated in your lifetime if you store the stands properly. When viewed as not only a tool but also as insurance, these are incredibly good value for the protection they provide. Having used other cheap jack stands, including some that were recalled and could have killed me, these ESCO jack stands immediately impressed me with their heft, their stability, and the safety features. I also appreciate the height these can safely achieve and make doing work under a vehicle much easier. I do work on BMW and MINI, and these work great with the jacking points on those vehicles. I always push on the vehicles from multiple angles after getting them on jack stands to make certain they are stable, and with these ESCO stands, they are rock solid. I've read some reviews that knock the welds. The welds are certainly not artistic, but the welds are functionally solid. My experience with their customer service was also top tier. They were prompt, polite, and went above and beyond. I am very pleased with the ESCO 10498 jack stands.

Sturdy and safe
First the pictures show the difference between the 10498 (13.2”-21.5”) and 10499 (11”-17”) The price is high for a single stand but hold 3 tons and the pin I feel is more secure than the regular ratchet model that sell those capacity by pair. I don’t use them yet because I wanted to know which model could work for my car (Honda crv) that is why I have both now The clearance I have between the ground and the point jack is 10” , my floor Jack has a 15” maximum high , since the lowest setting for the 98 is 14” minimum with the pad ( without the pad is 13”) I only have 1” clearance to place the jack under the car so in the beginning I thought could be too big for my car so I did order the 99 model but I think I will stick with the 98 . What I don’t like of the stand is when you go to a higher setting the post will move and feels unsafe (I’m sure it is but personally don’t like that) so is something that some people should keep on mind Someone here in Amazon has a video about that The rubber pads to replace are expensive ($24 each plus shipping) and some reviews say they brake after few uses , so I bought a pair of tick pads in Amazon for $12 , got at Menards 2 rubber stoppers and contact cement The complaints some people have is the paint, scratches on delivery or welding I got both open item to save money and one came scratched but no a big deal for me , maybe they are going to frame it , place it next of trophies in the living room or maybe have carpet in the garage , but I am using to change oil and tire rotation or emergency on the road and they will scratch with car and floor and placing them in the car or garage. I think they are expensive but you can’t put price to your life with something that feels sturdy and safe I have been with a craftsman stand for 15 years with little rust but still has lots of life. I’m sure this stands will last decades for oil change and emergency on the road .

Awesome floor jack for great stability and positive height locking
Quality: These floor jacks are well designed with solid welds and a wide weight distribution. The adjustable column is 1-1/8" solid steel with holes drilled every 2 inches. The locking rod is solid 1/2" steel. The resting surface is a thick rubber pad that can be removed. Functionality: As stated by the vendor, the height can be adjusted from 13 to 21 inches with one-inch increments. The locking mechanism is almost fool-proof since the locking rod is inserted through the jack body, out the other side, and then secured with a supplied lock ring. I ordered these two years ago and have used them on cars, trucks, and a loaded boat trailer. Besides the typical scratches, the stands show no substantial wear or rust. The extra cost, compared to ratcheted jacks, is well worth the peace of mind knowing that my lifts are secure.

Get these
These are possibly the best jack stands out there. I've seen a lot of reviews on a lot of others but I bought two pairs of these because I was so happy with the quality of the first pair. The pin system is the safest by far for any Jack stand simply because the pawl and latch system on other jack stands is very dangerous since you could accidentally bump the handle unlatching the teeth and the car could come crashing down on you while still being on the jack stand. This is impossible to accomplish with the pin design. I know that scenario sounds crazy but believe me even though the car weighs thousands of pounds it's really not difficult at all for that to happen. you don't have to move the latch much at all just enough to clear the latch from the teeth and you're done. It's not going to relatch on the way down it's going to go clear over all the other teeth till it hits bottombecause of the weight of the car. Another excellent feature they have is that the base is flat so it doesn't make gouges in your garage floor, inexplicably 99% of other jack stands can gouge your floor under the weight of the car. I don't see the point of this kind of design but these surpassed any of the others design and safety-wise

I love these jack stands
I watched a YouTube video (project farm) comparing different jackstands (how much weight they could take before they deform, and how easy it was to tip over a vehicle on Jack stands, etc).. Too bad this particular jackstand was not included in the test, but after learning from watching; I believe esco would be among the best of them…. Very robust, and the base is a chunk wider than my old jackstands (which is the operative thing that makes it easy to tip a car over.. Watching that video spooked, me and I will be using rubber wheel chocks from now on.. you don’t need the neighbor neighborhood kids screwing around when a car is on jackstands).. The triangle shape makes it so all 3 feet touch the ground, but I’m not too sure how that works in terms of a wider base (for the car tipping). My old jackstands were the typical ones with teeth, and the top of it made to support by an axle.. There are quite a few YouTube videos, where the teeth break, or something goes wrong with the mechanism, and they don’t support the weight of the vehicle (my old ones are going into the trash).. The Esco jackstands are a chunk heavier than my old jackstands.. Because the feet are smooth on the bottom, the feet will slide and make it easy to nudge under the car, and because a pin locks in the position it’s actually easier to move than the older/lighter jackstands (because I can grab them from the top).. The rubber pad on top looks very robust.. I’ve always cringed when my jack would slam the car down onto the pinch welds (on my old Jack stands made to support an axle). The pinch welds on my Highlander tore up the edges of the rubber Jack pad. (the Highlander is heavy, plus my old jack does not lower smoothly). I love the large footprint of the feet, instead of the sharp edge of metal pushing into the driveway (I’ve always wondered if the concrete were a little weak in that area, if it might crack the concrete.. when you’re underneath a car, your mind thinks of all possibilities).

These are very sturdy and can easily lift my small car and SUV
These are very sturdy and can easily lift my small car and SUV. These definitely are sturdier and safer for your vehicle than regular jack stands and the rubber pads at the top ensure that there is no damage to your vehicle when placed under the jack points!
