Stunning Pergola and easy to build.
First review in UK, whoop whoop. Overall the Pergola is fantastic thus far. I bought it about two months ago and it has been fab to have over the summer, even without as many super sunny days this year. pros: 1) Was easy to build overall, and took me and my wife about 7 ish hours which I think is reasonable. I started this alone as my wife took our son out to see friends but I quickly got to a point that this is definitely a two person job, at the very least. I started using the BILT app but this can be annoying and I soon just used the paper instructions provided as these were good enough. Some have said about the nuts and bolts being a little too short or without room for error and I think that is understandable, especially for the bolts for the top of the main leg posts leave not much room for error. But the benefit is a neat finish after construction and in the end all went in as directed. 2) colour and style is exactly as shown and I love the smell of the wood, which is much nicer than pine etc 3) size and coverage - it is large!!!! so shade is a plenty. 4) strong and sturdy - hope it stays so during windy uk autumn and winter 5) has enabled me to go out and buy loads more solar garden lights which I m delighted by. Cons: 1) some minor chips or grazes in wood from transport or production, but covered most up using colour pen thing provided in box 2) design of feet for posts was good and neat but a bit tricky as u need to screw in floor first then put pergola on top once constructed and believe me I can just about move this once built. But more competent DIYers would be fine. I am towards the very bottom of that scale. Other points to note: 1) The leg post donโt seem solid, I suspect are foam filled. 2) delivery was perfect but my wife took collection and then warned me the two boxes this comes in are far to large and heavy to move. And after a few attempts I concluded she was indeed correct, so will need to unpack and move the wood in smaller chunks. Will update in a few months if any issues, but this far a solid buy and I would recommend to friends and family. Happy building!

Excellent product
Well made and sturdy. Very happy with this item. Clear assembly instructions, but if you are not a strong person ypu may need help due to its weight.

Worth the effort
Very happy with this pergola. Good quality wood and fixings. As with some other reviews, the length of the bolts was challenging as there was no excess, hence the four stars. It took two of us about eight hours over three days to complete. Iโll sort out the base and relay the slabs next. Would recommend ๐๐ป

Buy this!!!
This is an AWESOME buy!! We hired a landscaper to completely re-do our backyard. He would build us a pergola... for $3000! That would push us outside of our budget. Thank you Amazon for this excellent alternative. It's great quality, very sturdy, solid wood, and the installation was prompt and done by a wonderful person. We are already getting so many compliments from people, even the landscaper :) I'm recommending this to all my friends and family looking to spruce up their yard.

Good company, good products
I'm a big fan of Backyard Discovery products, having bought two so far. (A Saxony gazebo being the other.) Product-wise I have no complaints, but delivery-wise I was furious because not only was there no ability to choose a delivery date, but even after being instructed on what to do by Amazon, after I contacted the shipping company like Amazon said to, I still wasn't able to set a delivery date. Before I realized what was happening, a giant delivery truck and two giant boxes of lumber appeared at the front of my house - no phone call, no email, no text message, no notification beforehand. In fact it was lucky that I was even home at all, because I wasn't supposed to be. Not happy about that, but the driver was extremely cool and actually helped get it to my back yard, which he didn't have to do. Like the gazebo kit I bought first, (I had no delivery problems with that one and was able to schedule a delivery date/window for it), this pergola went together much the same and was made relatively easy with the BILT app for instructions. Like the gazebo, the lumber in this kit is untreated and it absolutely needs to be sealed before assembly to make it resilient to rain, sun, and the general outdoors. I'm a giant fan of Seal-Once Nano-Poly and STRONGLY recommend using it to treat this lumber first. I used the "Light Brown" color, results are in photos. As for assembly, these kits are definitely a process - Day one was spent gathering tools, work tables, equipment, and setting up the back yard to accommodate all the pieces of the kit. Step one with any of these kits to unbox it all and inspect the wood from damage or warped boards, then dealing with the company to send out needed pieces. I didn't have any damage and everything looked straight enough to work with, (not everything was perfect, but hey.... it's lumber), and my 14 year old son and I went to work unboxing and staging all the pieces in the back yard in like-sized piles. Day two was spent sealing the pieces a few at a time on a set of sawhorses and a portable work table. Since Seal-Once dries quickly in the Las Vegas air, we were able to stain/seal about four pieces each and then transfer them over to a makeshift drying rack on the concrete slab. (A tarp laid out on the floor and some 2x4s creating the "rack".) Once the pieces were drying, we then got all the hardware staged and ready to be used. We let the Seal-Once cure overnight. Day three we assembled it, with all of it going together and fitting with the same ease as my other gazebo. Again, the BILT app helped tremendously. This kit has quite a few pieces to it, so it took us most of the day. Ensuring that things are aligned correctly and bolts are going in in the right orientation is time-consuming, and all the slats across the roof also take time to get affixed in place. Once it was all assembled and inspections were made, we made some additions, which is what make these kits great - they loan themselves great to customizations. For us, because I needed far more shade than a pergola provides, I added more of a roof with the trellises you can purchase from big-box hardware stores, colored to match. I also added one on the side of the pergola to shield the afternoon sun that reaches there. Besides providing shade that actually breathes instead of making the pergola an oven with solid metal roofing, the trellises make for great platforms to grow vines up and over the roof. Then we added 120v wiring and outlets where needed, powering misting fans, hanging lights, and a television. (That was a lot of work unto itself... not worth going into here.) Finally, an outdoor TV enclosure was constructed and hung on one end, giving the whole thing a rather "enclosed" feel to the pergola. Eventually when some hanging plants and some vines get put in place and grow into it, it'll be a comfortable little nook in the corner of the yard.

wth?!! NOT worth "One Star" - took entire leisure away from such item
Paid for contractor service (via Amazon) to assemble - only to come home, to find pergola [VERY] crooked [photos] - just too late to do crap because I paid a lot (EXTRA) for cement to stabilize [because I reside in desert where wind speeds are often 25-60 mph]. Pergola was already assembled/in the ground, with poured concrete; however, the contractor (both deaf and only communicating me with pointing and using their cell phone's text/note feature to communicate). Also, I discovered few broken pieces (already assembled) & many beams not level/not secured. AND not even adjoining adjacent beams/posts. Pergola is beautiful - serves its purpose (car shade). Material is marketed as 'Chinese Cedar'. I ain't an expert, but this material fractures easily. Just hope it "holds up" - esp with high winds & frequent temps 90-118ยฐ AND that its set in forever, in concrete. Reckon I got what I deserve/signed-up for (??) buying something so large, so time-intensive, so complex, not having ability to physically inspect item, buying off the internet, and ETC, ETC.. I even received a berating email that the contractor had to assemble this item in excessive heat. 1st off: I didn't make anyone agree to perform anything, under any conditions, any date/time. And salt to wound: I even tipped these 2 contractors $80 -AND- bought each of them a full lunch (Panera Bread), in addition to water/drinks. They even knocked on my door, asking me if I had anything for them to drink. THEN.... (gets worse): the lengthy email from the contractor assembling this item went on & on how they had to make 2 trips to Home Depot for tools to assemble the item. The contractor went on & on about how he "went out of his way" to obtain items, to assemble this item. So, I'm confused how I (the consumer) am responsible for ensuring weather conditions are to their liking & that I am to have the necessary tools (specifically asked AND that I had to obtain/provide: wheel barrel, shovel, and cement). Paying someone to assemble this so I didn't have to spend any time doing this project, whatsoever & not deal with the aggravation to assemble this, YET, here I am.. doing exact opposite and then some, trying to resolve *this* ISSUE) - which BTW.. I see some reviewers on here were able to assemble this item in ~5 hrs. I'm impressed because 2 assembly guys (contractors arranged/paid via Amazon) spent from 8AM-7:30PM to do this project and ... I don't even trust these people and don't want them anywhere near my property - despite their having emailed me, called me (many times). I rather just burn this pergola during our next winter rather than deal with these people (contractors who "assembled" this item), than have to endure more stress and frustration with such incompetent, disrespectful, people. (and yes, I have email communication as proof the manner which I was treated and that I was the one responsible for their mishaps & being ill-prepared)
