does it have RCA jacks for the line in?

No. It has a 3mm stereo aux input in the front. I used an adapter to go from female RCA to 3mm male stereo jack and works great

Music is playing... remote functions won't work, can't adjust anything on unit itself. Have to unplug and plug back in to use controls. What to do?

If your unit is new, return it for a refund. I had the same problems with a Sharp bookshelf system I had, but it had worked perfectly well for over 11 years before.

Can this play audio from my computer either via Bluetooth or via an audio cable (when I'm not playing my CDs)?

Definitely will do this via Bluetooth. Not sure about cable but there is a usb port on the front so I guess so.
