I wouldn't purchase another, complete lucky dip!
I bought my first one of these cameras from a shop online and it had problems almost immediately, after much messing about convincing the shop it was faulty, I managed to send it back and got a replacement which was great and worked fine for a while. Then the cover attaches to the main body and that controls the menu settings, started to flicker on the screen and made it very hard to set the date and time etc as the screen kept going blank. Unfortunately after about 9 months I managed to drop it (from a height of about 3 inches) and the cover at the bottom snapped off completelyI then bought another of exactly the same camera from here. I had problems almost immediately with it stopping recording after a couple of hours and after again to-ing and fro-ing trying to convince the seller there was a problem I returned it and it was replaced. Weirdly the second camera has the most amazing sound pick up which no other camera had. After about 9 months I started to get problems with the camera, it had the same fault again, shutting off after a few hours and not capturing anything from then on. I replaced the batteries (I always use very high quality rechargeable that get charged every day) and then replaced the memory card. Nothing seemed to fix the problem, I did e-mail the seller in Dec 17 but got no response. I persevered and the problem went away, it still occasionally misses out chunks of filming at night, I know that it should have triggered due to all the food I leave out for wildlife disappearing so it's definitely the camera at fault. In the past couple of days the same problem I had with the first camera has started with this one. When I open the lid to set the date and time the screen doesn't come on so this is clearly a fault with the cameras having had a repeat of the problem with a new camera. On the plus side, if you luckily get a good one, the quality of photo's is good and they do capture some great video's They're also quite easy to set up.On the downside, in my experience, they don't last long, have the same issues in each camera and are quite flimsy (for a lid to snap off from a fall of 3 inches is ridiculous). You also can't get it repaired by the manufacturer as they appear to be based abroad. They also seem to be of wildly varying quality with no consistency from camera to camera, so it's purely luck of the draw as to how good your camera will be. I got great sound in one, great colour photo's iin another (even at night) and then poor sound in another and one that has never, ever captured a colour photo at night. It's a shame that the quality is so inconsistent, if they break they can't be sent back to the manufacturer and there's little or no back up for returns here, having had no response to my e-mail I'm now exactly on a year that I've had it so the seller will say it's out of warranty. Waste of money really.I've now had the second camera exactly 12 months so if you want anything that lasts more than a year I seriously wouldn't bother buying one of these. I have now given up and am going to get a better quality camera from a shop rather than on amazon so that I know I will have back up if anything goes wrong. The only reason I gave 3 stars is that when the camera works it does film great video's and photographs, sadly the camera is problematic and inconsistent so I'd rate them very low for that.

Great Value But A Few Flaws
We love our trail camera, and the first night we captured video of both foxes and a badger in our garden. It's great when it works, but sometimes the timer doesn't seem to work right, capturing nothing during the night yet videoing us an hour after the times is supposed to expire when we go to pick it up. I have double and triple checked the settings for the clock and timer, but most of the time it does work ok.The only other negatives I have are:(a) Each SD card seems to number from 1 upwards, so if you rotate 2 or more you need to store the images in separate folders. After a few months I have found that the best way of storing the videos on my pc is to create a separate folder for each day, so that it's easier to catalog them and this also avoids duplicate numbering in the same folder if you use multiple SD cards.(b) It's not easy to see what the camera is pointed at when you mount it, unless you have it where you can put it in test mode and have the screen down. It's a bit sad when you get a rare visitor and the camera is angled too high or too low.(c) The camera doesn't always seem to function, even though I power it on and the lights flash. With all the food put out for the foxes gone, we know there has been activity, but no videos taken. It seems that if I power the camera on in test mode, wait a few seconds, power off and then back on into normal mode, it will function ok.(d) Biggest gripe of all is with the solar charger that I just bought, since 70 1 minute videos a night chews through even 12 batteries. With the 6210MC model the socket for an external power source is located too close to the tripod mount, so if you have the camera on a tripod, or in my case a clip with tripod mount attached, you can't plug it in. I have yet to find another way of mounting the camera and think I will need to build a cradle for it.Having said that though, a 12MP camera at this price that captures full 1080 video can't be beat.

Worth it for the quality and ease of use
I was tempted to buy some of the cheaper versions available from China, but looking at some of the bad reviews, and putting two and two together, it would seem that a lot of people are actually buying fakes. This version was expensive but worth it in my opinion. The night vision works well enough to about 10 metres which was fine for me and picked up the foxes, cats, rats and mice using my garden every night. We've also solved some puzzles by getting video proof of how mice were getting into our kitchen wall ( squeezing through cracked brick in lean-to!).Daytime colour video is good also - we had plenty of action on our bird feeder. The software provided is like something you would have got for the Commodore 64 but it does the job. I have had some issues with the time stamp resetting itself or drifting out by a few hours.Make sure you get a good quality sdcard - it acts as a link to fire the camera up, so if you have a cheap one ( and by that I mean not a Kingston or Sandisk ) then you will probably think the camera is broken. If you want something like the quality they get with the cameras on naturewatch you'll need to double the price at least, but if you want clear reliable videos and images both day and night of creatures within a ten metre range then this 6210mc is the minimum I would go for.
