The best RPG on the Xbox 360 since Oblivion!

I will admit to not being the biggest JRPG fan, having never seen a Final Fantasy game through to it's conclusion, but I know what I like, and I loved Eternal Sonata, so much so that it made me actively seek out other Japanese RPG's for more of the same.Everything about this game is a hit; the visuals are simply gorgeous, the whole game is wonderfully imaginative, the combat is fully engaging and fun, the story is an absolute delight, and despite a linear storyline there are still plenty to be done in this rich and beautiful game. It's definitely a game with replay value and it's a game that's an immense amount of fun to play.I got through the game in about 24 hours in total, which admittedly is a little short, especially considering that Lost Odyssey, the most recent Xbox 360 JRPG is 60 hours long, but I'd say I fully enyoyed at least 22 of them. I definitely intend to play it again just because it's such a wonderful experience. You will be sitting through some rather long cutscenes, and the story does get rather preachy, but these minor problems did nothing to dent my utter enjoyment of this game.Considering that I got this game for less than £20 from good ol' Amazon, in retrospect if I had known how good it was I would have gladly paid £40, and at £15 you would be hard pressed to find a better game. Every Xbox owner who enjoys a good colourful game with some real nice combat has no excuse for not buying this simply amazing game. 9/10 (rounded up to 5 rather than down to 4)

Japanese Chopin runs off with a little girl to fight onions

*by A***0 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 February 2009*

I bought this game for my 13 year old daughter and was attracted by the pseudo educational overtones in the blurb. When we fired the game up we were impressed by the visual impact but a little non-plussed by the very long and hesitant introduction. The gameplay is slow and basic at the beginning and the game seems to be aimed at very young children. My daughter quickly put the game down and left it.A couple of weeks later she had another go and stuck with it this time and is now about half way through. Once you get past the opening levels the game becomes more complex and appealling. The combat is a little repetitive (you take turns to bash angry onions and jelly fish/mushroom things and rather wooden boss monsters) but you gain a small army of side-kicks (including a rather dull characterisation of a Chopin) all of whom can be customised. There are musical mini-games and audio clips that do provide a basic introduction to Chopin's work and add an original feel to the game. The more you fight the more powerful the characters become, but there are too many fights and this interrupts the flow of the game.A wierd and rather slow platform come role play come music lesson game that is worth picking up if you see it cheap.

    Good fun game.

Took me a while to get used to the "linear" aspect of character movement, I muchprefer to wander all over the place, but its a decent game with a very unusual storyline/theme.Very colourful and clear cartoon/anime type graphics.Dont like having to play through a second time but you have to to get all the stuff/goodiesetc if you want to completely finish the game and get the (Xbox360) rewards.Though does seem to be the way most games are these days.Overall, IMHO, a game worth giving a go.
