The Imposter

Such an amazing read!!
This book starts out slow, but its pace increases once you get engrossed in the story. It is narrated from two POV's - Deborah's (in third person) and Sibley's (in first person). I am a fan of different POV's and I absolutely love how the author has eloquently written the perspectives. The chapters make you confused as to who is lying with its unreliable narration (which is brilliant!)❤️If I am to classify the twists into three, I could figure out only one of them! The other two were unforseen, and it made the story even more interesting! And I loved how all the actions, which seemed pretty 'why is this happening now' to me, made sense by the end of the book!Overall, I enjoyed reading this one, and I especially loved the ending. I highly recommend this to all who loves a good psychological thriller! A definite ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 read!

An okay read
This was quite a slow read from my usual thrillers with 2 unreliable characters who were unlikable too.One twisted plot with prose that jumped timelines it was confusing too. The lawyer daughter wanted to unite with her estranged mother when her personal life imploded and both went to uncover secrets. (never a good thing, some should stay buried)Overall a good read with the usual suspense and nasty twists.

Out of ocus
Written in American English which is annoying to someone from the other side of the pond. The story is hard to follow and unbelievable. I could not empathise with any of the characters. Don't waste your time.

5 STARS!!!!!!
I am so glad that Marin reached out on Instagram with the opportunity to read an advanced copy of her new psychological thriller, The Imposter!Sibley loses her father, moves away from home and starts a life for herself. She gets married, has a great job but her alcohol gets the best of her and she finds herself in a bit of a mix up when her work asks her to take a leave of absence and go to rehab. In route to rehab, cash in hand, she purchases an old beater car and heads back home to see the one person she has cut off contact with since the death of her father…her mother. The past is stirred up and memories are flashing back in Sibley’s mind as she enters her childhood home. While home, she learns she was a twin, that her father may not have been her father at all and her mother is severely ill, or so she thinks. Will she find out the truth to what happened in the barn that night her believed father died? Will she find out the truth of other hidden secrets of her childhood? Read this book and watch the pieces all fall together!

A 3 is being generous...
You can see the spoilers and everything from other reviewers. One thing I wanted to note about this book is that the mom is supposed to be in her early 50s. Yet she has gnarled hands and wrinkles and sags.I am highly offended at that because I am nearly 50. Has this author not seen Gwyneth Paltrow, who just turned 50? Or Angela Bassett, who is in her sixties? Or Salma Hayek, who is 54???Fifty isn't senile or elderly by any stretch of the imagination! So the whole premise of Deborah's description as feeble (with gnarled hands!) at 54 should be really annoying to a lot of the readers on here.

A lot of words, short story.
This book just moved to slow and was extremely repetitive. This could have been a great book and finished at 300 pages, unfortunately it just wasn't executed well. I hate when the back or secondary story line is handled without the reader. We just get a quick summary tied with a bow. Like, I have invested over 400 pages of mostly ramblings, you can spare 50-60 more. Since the ending was out of nowhere wrapped up neatly and way to fast. 2.5⭐'s
