Great tool but is it made by draper? I dont think so...
This is an excellent item. It produces very good flares and isvery simple to work.im amazed how little leverage is required with the spanners to produce the flares with spanners.Having previously used a silverline brake flaring tool the comparison is like night and day.I am however very dubious this tool is made by draper.all draper tools and especialy draper expert tools I own are stamped with the logo my machinethis item has a cheap draper sticker on it. If it were not for the sticker the tool could be from another manufacturer, bought on bulk and a sticker saying draper placed on it then priced at 10 quid more expensive than the manufacturer is charging on other internet site's as well as amazon. The fact the sticker is placed on the tool die after it has been oiled and is ready to fall off in a quick and cheap manner suggests to my suspicions are valid. Due to this I have dropped 1 star.search for "brake pipe tool" then select the cheaper item that looks the same on amazon or elsewhere and buy that. Its the same item.

Well made, Good value
Seemed well made and did the job very well. I used it to flare in-situ steel brake pipes and make new copper ones. I noticed that one reviewer said the tool had split when making the flare so to prevent any risk of this, I put an additional clamp across the open end to support it when flaring steel pipes. Copper is much softer so i didn't take any precaustions. Seemed to make very good flares first time and I've not had any leaks on the multiple joints I made. Do make sure you cut the brake pipe square at the end with a pipe cutter and de-burr the outer edge with a fine file. I deburred the inner edge with a 5 mm drill. Also, make sure the pipe is free of paint or lubrication so it doesn't slip back in the tool when you tighten the die. I used cellulose thinners or brake cleaner, and marked the pipe with a felt tip so I could check it wasn't moving once I'd clamped it.Also claimed it was made in GB!

Not suitable for steel brake pipes?
Worked fine with copper pipes. But when used with the harder steel pipes on my Mercedes the die thread stripped rendering the tool useless. See photo. Product advert did not say it was not suitable for steel pipes. Requested a refund. Shame as I expected better from the Draper brand.

Worked first time, does both steel and copper lines
The brake line on my 2002 Ford Maverick sheared off when I tried to unscrew it from the front brake hose. For various reasons, an on-vehicle repair of the existing line made far more sense than trying to replace the entire line back to the ABS module. After initially making the mistake of trying to flare the line using a kit that wasn't intended for use on steel lines, I picked the Draper. This was my first-ever attempt at a brake line flare, and it just worked. As it's a DIN flare it only needed one operation, screwing the punch down until it bottomed out - no need to perform the second step required with SAE double flares.Prep the end of the line correctly, remember to dab the supplied grease on the end of the punch, and everything should be fine. One issue I encountered is that a factory bend in the line prevented me sliding the new fitting back far enough to allow the tool to fit as well. I initially tried using pliers etc to straighten the bend, but that wasn't hugely successful; I got the line somewhat straighter, but not quite straight enough. In the end, I found the solution was to use the body section of the flaring tool as a press, into which I put the bent section of line, and which worked perfectly to straighten the line enough to get the fitting as far back as I needed. Just tightening the two clamping screws was all I needed to do to straighten the line out.The only negative I can see is that unlike some other versions of this tool, you cannot unscrew the handle from the body to get into REALLY tight spaces.

Don't waste time with crap tools. Buy this.
After wasting plenty of time and brake line getting terrible flares with the standard 20 euro tool I decided to by this. And boy what a great tool this is. Perfect flares every single time. (Really, out of the 6 I made, 6 were perfect.)Don't waste time on the cheap tools. Buy this the first time and do it right. Also, You can make a SAE Male (Bubble) and Female (double) flare. With the SAE tool.
